  A week in paradise!

  Booked this hotel based on previous visits while on a cruise. You can book an excursion on the ship that includes lunch and a few hours on the beach at this hotel. It's a pleasant check in with the host showing us to our room and explaining amenities in the room. We had an upstairs room with balcony, distant view of ocean that was nice. The room, fully functioning kitchenette, utensils, fridge, microwave and all you really need. If you plan on NO cooking or reheating food, then choose the cheaper room without kitchen. There are only 2 issues that I feel needs attention. 1- the breakfast is plentiful, but often eggs and other American dishes are left cold, with the canned heat being allowed to stop. Going early, or later didn't make a difference. Many serving dishes were allowed to be empty. There's ample staff about, but they need to do better in my opinion. The 2nd issue is the pool area. The pool is lovely, but the animals leaving behind their dirty business needs to be cleaned up around the pool and in the pool. I've seen the waste still present poolside after several days, not pleasant to navigate around. The hotel is a good location for the village of great restaurants just steps away. All are good. Something for everyone. There's a small but superior grocery store in the village, take a carry bag. They have everything under the sun! Expensive, but an added bonus for a stay. It's a taxi ride to other restaurants, beaches, but readily available with a call to reception. Reception is great. English spoken everywhere. American dollars taken as well as American Express and most all credit cards but not Discover. Tips are as in the states, but they like tips in cash we found. Most transactions are shown in Euros or they will translate for you so you know. I would recommend having a back up card, and a way to get cash from an ATM if you need more cash.

  La Playa - Honest Review

  Great location relaxing - only reason not 5 star was due to a security issue that was resolved quickly. Owners made us feel safe and comfortable for remainder of stay. Near restaurants and beach is 1 min. Would stay again.

  Superb staff, all-round incredible experience, great value for money

  This resort was fantastic because it ticked so many boxes – location, convenience, food, accommodation, and professional & welcoming staff. Elena in particular is an extremely hardworking front desk operator who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and took extreme care to ensure the smallest details of our trip were perfect. I need to stress that everyone at this resort without exception was courteous and professional, but she is an absolute rockstar. She is very passionate about the island, was deeply knowledgeable and very sweet. She helped us book a day trip to Saint Barts and also helped recommend food/sightseeing options there and also in St Martin itself. If they have employee of the month, she would easily win every month. I cannot thank her enough for being a large contributor to us maximizing our vacation. The resort itself is in a great location in orient Bay – short walk to restaurants and the supermarket. The breakfast buffet is great quality. While not an overwhelming variety of options, I like that it was simple and focused enough to get you going during the day. The free parking lot is a huge convenience; we rarely had trouble finding a spot. The room was very spacious and clean. But the real surprise was the depth of amenities available in the room; full kitchenette, iron, desk, functioning safe, etc. A complete suite which could accommodate a long stay. Incredible value for money. We were unlucky with the weather that week and couldn’t enjoy the beach at Orient Bay- but in St Martin it’s very easy to drive around and explore other beach options. The beach itself is beautiful but it seems is more susceptible to waves and stormy weather than other parts of the islands, at least from what we observed. Although I personally don't hyperfocus on swimming pools while at a resort, and much prefer going to the beach, this resort doesn't have a large noisy pool bar atmosphere like at an all-inclusive so people should take that into consideration. Overall we have no complaints whatsoever the resort at all, highly recommend for anyone thinking of visiting St Martin.

  Family hotel next to de beach

  Very good hotel next to beach. Direct access to the beach with very nice and cool staff. We were as family and had a great stay. Nearby you have different restaurants and bars. The orient beach is 2 min walk where you find all kind of watersports. The breakfast area is next to the beach with feet in the sand. Amazing. There are all kind of birds and iguans around. The rooms are very large with a separate toilet. Even a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave is in the room. We had s view from our balcony to the beach and sea. You have a beachbar with all kind of drinks. The chairs are for free at the beach and drinks will be served by service personal. All in all a place to be and to relax.
