  The towel game

  Our stay was great. Food was very good. Only problem was getting chairs at the beach. You have to be up at 5am to get a good spot on the beach. People are putting down towels early and sometimes not showing up the entire day. I think they should have someone monitoring this. If you aren’t back in 2 hours after reserving your spot for the day, then your towels and items should be removed by one of the workers. Secrets does this and it works really good there.

  Peaceful Paradise

  Very peaceful and tranquil if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. The resort property is quite large and requires good mobility as there are quite a few set of stairs, ramps and some somewhat steep walkways. You can either walk to your room/around the resort or take a golf cart driven by an employee or other motorized vehicle which is offered continuously. We had two queen size beds in our room and found it quite comfortable and spacious. The fragrance from their soap/cream/shampoo and conditioner is quite nice. We found the water pressure somewhat lacking at times and hot water took a while, but other than that we were quite pleased. We thoroughly enjoyed the several beaches that were on the property as well as the pools. Sometimes it was hard to find a lounge chair though. Their fitness center is quite large and well equipped. We enjoyed the yoga sessions as well. They have several pickleball and tennis courts and various water fun activities to choose from. We found that the drink service (wine, coffee, etc.) in the buffet seating area was quite slow. We felt that the servers didn't come around as often as they should to make sure you had coffee/drinks or refills. This was also common on the beach at times and at the pool. The food was quite good and there was lots of variety of dishes. There are five a la carte restaurants to choose from. We only ate at three of them and the service and food was very good. The restaurant staff were very friendly and happy. The property is very well maintained and clean. We had a very relaxing holiday and will be returning.

  La Brisas Huatulco What you really get

  ery old and requiring a lot of maintenance and/or refurbishment of room, Upon check in we were given a room they said had 2 guens and no kings avaliable , the room had a king and a queen bed shoved into it and absolutely no view or balcony, shower would not work and no hot water. We came down the next day and had to change rooms so the day was shot as we had to be out by 10am and could not get into new room till 3pm . New room was better with a nice view and king bed but still no balcony. The check in staff was very helpful but they kept saying they were at 95 capacity which we doubted by seeing the number of rooms changing by people unhappy with the first room. If you are looking for a luxury room for your holiday keep looking. Due to the location of the rooms you needed to take a shuttle to everything with very steep hills and really not safe to walk . If you have any mobility issues this is not the place for you. Restaurants. we did a few a la carte restaurants and found the Mexicana to be Very Enjoyable with great service,food and view, left that dinner with all the boxes ticked. Then the Mediterranean and the others take a miss and go to the Buffet, they were not even worth going to and did not finish our meals there and went to the Buffett. Overall the Buffett food was very good with a lot of unique local and international food options and great service. Now for the Good Stuff Beaches were great and snorkelling was excellent for being so close, life guard staff was good at making sure people did not touch or damage the corral, abundance of sea life, loungers we great but they could use a few more as you had to hunt for them a lot. Overall a decent place for a quick 1 week beach vacation but take into account that the rooms and locations may disappoint , if you are looking or a relaxing somewhat fancy place with good entertainment and better than average food look elsewhere. I would give La Brisas Huatulco a 2.5 to 3 star max . Felt we overpaid by about 700 to 1000 for what we got.

  Love las briad

  Fantastic time. Aurelio fantastic. Loved the animation crew. So friendly and inclusive. Braulio, max and adiel all great. Loved the resort. The shuttle takes you all over. They’re within a minute. I would not hesitate to come again. What a vacation.

  BEWARE ...... FREE DOWNGRADE

  I am a Canadian Travel Agent and have booked many clients’ vacation packages to Las Brisas Huatulco. I reluctantly have to submit the following review. My husband and I just returned from a 7 night stay at the resort (our first visit). I had booked and paid for a Las Brisas Beach Club SUITE (the most expensive room category in the resort) in the “Mar” section of the property. The Las Brisas website clearly states that this category of room as situated on the 2nd or 3rd floor of this section of the hotel. Without any prior warning or apology, we were given a room on the 1st floor (semi basement level) down a flight of 21 steep stairs. This room had a damp smell, and most importantly, the room was not even a suite it was just their basic double room. Upon inquiring at reception, I was told that the hotel was at 94% capacity and that “sometimes this happens” and they put guests in other rooms. On our 3rd night they relocated us to the correct category of room we had booked and paid for. This involved packing up all our belongings, checking out of our room, storing our luggage in reception for several hours until we could then access the correct room we had booked and unpacking everything once again. We lost at least half the day doing this. Not only were we never informed of our “free downgrade” we were not offered any monetary compensation. We were first offered a free massage which was not acceptable. Then we were offered a credit for the hotel shops – which was initially acceptable because I was under the impression that the shop at the hotel selling jewelry was part of the establishment. It turns out it was not and was independently owned. The credit was for their shop selling swimsuits, beachwear, towels, floaties etc. I did not need any of these items. I once again asked for a cash refund. I did not want a full refund for the 2 nights – just the difference in the price that I had paid between the Suite I had booked (on the correct floor) and the standard semi basement room we were assigned. I was told they could not refund anything onto my credit card? Yet they have no issues accepting payments by credit card at the reception desk. Our situation was not an isolated incident in the Las Brisas Beach Club section. I spoke to several other dissatisfied guests in the same situation as myself. No warning of the “free downgrade” and no offer of a monetary refund. Some of the guests had to wait for 3 or 4 nights before being given the correct room. This was very disappointing as there are many good aspects to this property. The beautiful beaches and hotel grounds, the sports facilities, the standards of cleanliness and the staff would get my top marks. The food was average but quite acceptable and the rooms themselves large, clean, but a little tired. My main grievance is not getting the category of room (Suite) that I had paid for. The neglect to mention this fact upon check-in and the complete refusal for a monetary refund for the difference in cost is most unsatisfactory. From this point on I would be reluctant to recommend Las Brisas Huatulco to clients as I would be unable to guarantee to them that they would get what they had paid for. The hotel is obviously purposely overbooking the Suites and then is not prepared to compensate guests with a refund when they give them a downgraded room.
