Inconsistent service & Food Quality, and lack of event coordination
This is quite the harsh review, but it’s well warranted given the experience. Pros: The location is great! The ocean is beautiful and the views can be great, depending on your room choice. There’s a variety of options for dining or pool vibes based on your liking. Staff at the sports bar are so much fun and super attentive, shout out to Ivelisse for the laughs and ever-filled margaritas! The Italian restaurant had the best quality food and solid service as well. There was a foam pool party which was a blast! Overall, very clean resort! Cons: (Broken down into categories) Timeshare Sales: On the arrival day, we were accosted to do a VIP Breakfast, which is essentially their sales tactic for their timeshare-like program. We respectfully declined, but even on day 2 we were followed into the spa to be asked again as they were offering free massages if we attended… Quite embarrassing for a 5-star resort, if I must say. Restaurants: The food was not very good. I was surprised at the poor quality at most of the restaurants, but especially the Hibachi. The lack of consistency across the board on quality and taste was disappointing, and also made it hard to select a solid meal. Spa: As expected, high price points. However, I had a pedicure done and two of my nails were botched and it was slightly painful during the pedicure. They both got infected the very next day. While the massage was decent, this basic spa service really ruined the experience. Restaurant/Bar Service: Outside of the Italian spot and the sports bar, the service was consistently poor. After being seated, it could take up to 25 minutes to place an order. We had servers forget our orders at times. I’ve seen (especially the outdoor restaurants & bars) the staff take more interest in their own conversations than supporting the guests. We ordered 2 mojitos and a dessert at the center pool bar/restaurant and the bartender literally walked away, came back and said he lost us after the drinks. He proceeded to say they don’t serve the dessert item, asked his coworker and was corrected that they do. They never put the order in and we had to re-ask 30 minutes later. At the seafood restaurant, we and two other tables got up and left after we hadn’t had a server check on us since ordering our entrees. We all sort of just looked at each other confused that no one would even acknowledge us, and we all just got up and left. Activities: Ha… we attempted to join bingo or a cooking class, or even Yoga on the beach. None of these worked out. Staff had no idea where, when or what was even happening. We were redirected to different places. Our butler would say one area, which was different to what was posted on the board, but different from what was online. We finally found yoga, and they had no mats and essentially want you to do yoga on the sand. While the singing shows were good, the seating for shows was heavily limited. They were also not at the right places (in the theater versus outside) and everyone was confused. There was a magic show advertised everywhere, and it turned out to be a Rock band. They put a lot of effort into a 5-year anniversary event, it was rained out which is sad but for a tropical location, should have been more prepared for. If you don’t play billiards, use the gym or want to be at a pool, there’s nothing else really available for you throughout the day or evening. We gave up and just drank the entire time at the sports bar. Aqua Club: Not worth it. Another ploy to sell you time shares. A bar with “exclusive drinks”. The service inside was fine. But there was nothing else there. The service at the Aqua Club beach area was so bad, we had to essentially get our own drinks. We waited over 30 minutes for a bottled water. They weren’t even checking members actual wrist bands for the club space. Save your money and skip this. Overall, it was quite a terrible experience for the amount of money we spent. I’ll not be trying another property from this group, given this was our first. I’d consider paying the same amount for a different hotel.

Friendly Staff!
Loved our time at the pool and beach. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Confesor at the smaller pools anticipated all of our needs and was bringing us food and special drinks before we could even ask. Top notch!

We LOVED our stay at Live Aqua, Punta Cana! UNBEATABLE SERVICE, Small Resort Feel, Beautiful Grounds and Beach Area
We just returned home after a week stay at Live Aqua and I miss it already! We genuinely LOVED this resort for so many reasons. Starting at check-in all the way through check-out! These are the highlights: SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE- The service at Live Aqua was amazing and probably the thing that, I feel, sets them apart from other resorts we have stayed at! We took part in the Live Aqua Club so during check-in we relaxed in the Club Lounge, enjoyed a (much needed :)) cocktail and received a nice hand massage. After a long day of travel this was so appreciated! It was here that we met our Butler, Yrani. Yrani was wonderful! Every morning she would send us a detailed itinerary of events taking place that day and check-in to see if we had any requests to start the day! Then throughout the day she would periodically check-in, always making sure we had our needs met. One day she even went so far as to inquire if we wanted lunch brought to us in our rooms or on the beach. This attention to our needs definitely made us feel special and well cared for and that is just the start. EVERYWHERE we went we were greeted warmly by staff. I kid-you-not when I say that every single staff member acknowledged you when you passed them with an “Hola” or a simple hand over their heart and they referred to you as “family”. This kindness and quality service was consistent when accessing any of the different services (restaurants, bars, pools, beach, spa, etc.) at Live Aqua. Honestly, the hardest part of the stay was keeping track of the names of all of the amazing staff members so that we could give them the praise they deserve! A few that really stood out were wait staff members Sadie, Lujeiry, Ivelisse and beach wait staffers, Angelo and Josua! No request was too big for these guys! We definitely kept them busy with our drink requests and we were always treated with respect and greeted with a smile. I do not like going to places and being made to feel like I am a bother and I NEVER ONCE felt that at Live Aqua!!! Lastly, a majority of the staff spoke enough English to make communication easy and no one ever expressed frustration when there was a language barrier. The atmosphere of this resort makes it feel small, in the best way possible. I believe they had a pretty full resort but it never felt crowded anywhere on the grounds. We commented several times how serene and peaceful it was. Whether we wanted to sit by a pool, on the beach, or anywhere else, we always found a place to sit and relax without ever feeling crowded or stressed by other vacationers! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained! Beautiful lush vegetation, well manicured lawns and tropical flowers everywhere! It is not the most opulent resort, but we personally don’t care about tall Grecian pillars made of marble, hence why I said “small, in the best way possible.” You can walk to anywhere on the resort in under 5 minutes. Morning coffee, take in the sunrise, walk to dinner (in uncomfortable heels), run back to your room from the beach, only a minutes walk!! We loved that so much! DINNING/ENTERTAINMENT- I will preface by saying that we are not “foodies” so we didn’t come to this resort expecting a 5* dining experience but as far as all-inclusives go, we found the food to be solid! There were 4 of us and we tried each restaurant, including the buffet for breakfast. With that said, we each had a favorite and some we didn’t care for as much. I think that is normal as we all like what we like! My favorite meal and one that I would recommend was the filet with béarnaise sauce that was served at the French restaurant. Our server, Elison was awesome and our butler had arranged a special dinner for my husband’s birthday in a private dinning room, which was a really nice surprise! One other thing we all really liked was the pizza they served on the beach and the sports bar. It really hit the spot after a long day in the sun or late night after a few (maybe too many ;-) cocktails! Bottom line, we never waited to be seated at any restaurant, our food was prepared quickly and the service was always great! Each evening there was some form of music from live music, karaoke or a DJ in the atrium of the resort. This was so fun!! We met so many fun people and everyone was there to have fun! Again, the resorts small feel made this possible. We got to know people and recognize faces throughout our stay and who doesn’t love to make friends! The wonderful staff just added to the fun by laughing and joking around with us. It was really lovely! When the music would end they would move to the theater and put on a stage show that varied each night we were there. They weren’t huge Vegas style productions, but very entertaining all the same! It was clear that the performers spent a lot of time rehearsing and they put their all into the performances. The Michael Jackson tribute show was really good, the dancers were very talented!! Also, the Dominican culture themed show was so colorful and told a really great story of their culture. I love that sort of stuff!! To top the night off all guests can go to the night club to dance and socialize. We also enjoyed that experience! CLEANLINESS/MAINTENANCE/SAFTY I touched on the beauty of the resort earlier but adding to that, I will say that every area of the resort appeared well maintained, clean and we always felt safe! Our room was cleaned and our fridge was restocked daily. I was impressed when one day we forgot to turn off our “privacy” light until late in the day, like 4pm, so we did not expect the housekeeping staff to service our room. However, when we returned an hour later it had been cleaned without us saying a word. I could say more positive things about this but this review is getting long and basically I would only be repeating myself with more positive comments. SUMMARY- The Live Aqua Punta Cana was AWESOME! Honestly, I would be hard pressed to find something negative to say about it! I have never had an emotional reaction when leaving the staff at a resort but I did when our stay at Live Aqua ended. We will definitely stay here again and look forward to seeing everyone in the Live Aqua familia someday soon. Also, I would have no reservations recommending this resort to our friends and family because we really loved the place!!
