Newly retired couple from WI
My husband and I had an amazing time! The resort is smaller which allows for a very intimate experience. There are plenty of pools and the beach of course. The walkways are beautiful trimmed in gorgeous greenery and flowers. The entire grounds are clean freshly landscaped and the room cleaned and checked in on every day and night if you want. The service is outstanding! We had pool side service from Joel and Kerry Lynn (photo below). They were very attentive, friendly and made our time so much more enjoyable. Nicaury Balbuena was also fabulous. She worked closely with Joel and Reynaldo to make sure our every need or perk was taken care of. She checked on us everyday to see how things were and if we needed anything. Reynaldo did the same. Both extremely friendly and always smiling. We felt like they really cared about us! The food was great, we especially liked the variety at the buffet and how fresh the food was every day, breakfast and lunch. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian where they had an antipasto spread to start the meal off and choosing the entrees after that was difficult as there was plenty of pasta and proteins to decide on. We loved our stay and really hope to go back!

Not as good as we thought.
We have been in Live Aqua hotels before in Cancun, Cabo and San Miguel Allende, and we are sad that this hotel in Punta Cana if far away from having the quality in food and services to what we had in same brand in Mexico. We traveled to Punta Cana excited of what we thought is was a very nice and luxury vacation place. And it wasn’t that, Mexico have much more quality in the hospitality service and infrastructure, than Punta Cana. Regarding the hotel, the guest rooms do not have sound proof doors, so you can hear all the guest talking through the aisle. And it gets worse at night with the people coming back from the hotel bars and night club. The first floor have a very nice suites with a private pool, the problem is that this pool is NOT heated, so in winter or a cool weather is worthless to have it. Not everything was wrong in the hotel, there’s many staff very friendly and in our case MIGUEL from the breakfast, Alexander from the French and Francis from the Asian restaurants gave us the plus of service, they make us feel special and we enjoyed evething when they take care of us, congratulations for have them in the hotel.

A Rocky Start That Never Really Improved
A Rocky Start That Never Really Improved We had high hopes for this stay, especially since we’re members and have enjoyed other resorts in the group. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of what we’ve come to expect. The Problems Started Before Arrival: We were told we’d pay upon arrival, but discovered an unauthorized charge on our card beforehand. I called the hotel a week in advance to resolve this and was assured it would be noted on our reservation. When we arrived? No note, no record. The front desk staff wanted me to call the reservation line—the same line that told me the hotel would need to fix it. After much back and forth, we finally got it sorted, but when I asked for written confirmation of the refund, you’d think I was asking for the deed to the hotel. I had to firmly explain that without documentation, we’d have to report it as fraud since it was unauthorized. Room Issues: Our first room hadn’t been cleaned—dirty bathroom, unclean sink. I had contacted the hotel 5 days prior specifically requesting everything be perfect since we were celebrating my husband’s 40th birthday. After complaining, they moved us to a new room and offered complimentary day spa passes. Fine. But the new room? The key cards didn’t work. Multiple trips to the front desk. Then the shower wouldn’t drain properly—it pooled like a bathtub. We called housekeeping at least 3 times. Each time they said it was fixed. It wasn’t. It finally seemed resolved the night before we left. Housekeeping Confusion: Every request was a challenge. Asked for toilet paper? They brought lotion. Called again for toilet paper… it felt endless. VIP Room Mix-Up: They initially brought us to a VIP check-in room, then staff told us “you’re not supposed to be here.” Seriously? YOUR staff brought us there! Food & Beverage: The food needs major improvement. The “Mexican food” isn’t authentic Mexican cuisine. The drinks were undrinkable—all processed juices with no real mixology or fresh ingredients. Service Inconsistency: Service across the board was hit or miss. We constantly had to flag down waiters for everything. It didn’t feel like a relaxing vacation—it felt like we were bothering them with every request. The Bright Spots: Two people made this stay somewhat tolerable: Santiago the waiter and Santiago the cook at the dinner grill. They made us feel genuinely welcome, and the grill station had the best food on the entire resort. Bottom Line: As resort members who have stayed at other properties in the group, this was incredibly disappointing. The level of training and attention to detail here is nowhere near what we’ve experienced elsewhere. Would I return? No. This hotel needs significant improvements in staff training, service standards, and overall guest care before it matches the quality of other resorts in the portfolio.
