Amazing
Amazing hotel! Very clean, beautiful and lots to do. The staff was incredible! Junior our concierge was very helpful throughout the stay. Rafi Lee and Ana at the Tiki bar made our experience unforgettable. They were wonderful, and went above and beyond. Highly recommend staying here !

Very Disappointing and something i don't want to experience again.
The accommodation was adequate, however towels and bed throws/pillows was dirty. Food, entertainment and Drinks was possibly the worst i have ever experienced, it was cheap and unorganised. I will not be going back, disappointed after spending £5000.

3 star at best. Food was awful.
This is not a 5 star resort. We are not world travellers and are quite simple. I don’t understand the rave reviews. Read the negative reviews ( that are realistic ) and take them as true Pro Room was good size Balcony was nice Bed was comfortable Air conditioning worked great Shower was hot ( no pressure though) Drinks were good. Few wait staff at pool were good and bars. Cons Food was awful. Best thing was the New York strip and the buns/ bread .That was it everything else was subpar. Buffet( both) were not good. Italian was awful. Tomato sauce was brown? Was very disappointing. Came home and was sick for 2 days. Sushi looked very questionable. Hibachi was just food cooked in soy sauce. Coffee shop opens at 8am??? Lots of people wake up early and like to get a coffee not here. Coffee shop attendants were rude. While the sand and water in the beach is beautiful. It is so compact and crowded. The chairs are falling apart and dirty( although they were cleaning with bleach one morning so that was nice to smell )This is not 5 star. There was no luxury at all. They also don’t enforce the adults only side ( saw kids hanging out in adults side ) I understand that they allow vendors which is fine but they allow them to be in a certain part of beach and they all take breaks right in front of you?? Pools are nice but look into the swim up rooms which are basically Bali beds falling apart on dirt and mud. Not appealing. Most of the beds and loungers are falling apart and ripping. Butler service was a joke. A few time he walked right by us and said nothing. Would never pay for that again. He got better at end as maybe someone complained. Grounds were okay. Lots of tiles falling apart and never saw anything being maintained. Lots of overgrowth. Had to go to 2 different resorts to find out about transfer. Being we paid for the most expensive we would have thought they could simply email. Rather then wasting 2 hrs All in all very disappointing and would not return due to food and simply the whole experience was not 5 star.

A+ Staff = Fun Family Vacation
We loved the staff. So friendly, attentive, engaging and provided good service. The Kid Zone slide area kept our 3 and 1 year old grandkids happy for hours. The gardens were lovely and well-kept. The buildings showed some age but the maintenance people were great attending to problems. I’m going to single out a few staff who were particularly memorable, but everyone we encountered were amazing. Our “butler” Francisco was AWESOME! He took care of all our needs from a pair of loaner long pants for the “evening elegant” restaurant, to minor room issues, to advice about on site restaurants. William, the sommelier, was great for wine and food recommendations at several of the restaurants. Very helpful squeezing our son and his girlfriend into a reservation at L’Essence on their last night. Antonio from the “Animation Team” was great! He made my 87 year old mother feel so welcomed and a part of things. Alejandro took care of us at the wonderful “Seaside” restaurant at the beach several times. He was always there with a smile, a hug and “solo una cerveza” (as requested).

Majestic Mirage a Mirage
Review of Majestic Mirage Transfer from airport went smoothly. As we were club reservations, we were privileged to check in in the Club Lounge. We booked this vacation together with our friends January 24, 2024. 5 couples, 5 Club swim up rooms. The organizer of our group sat down with Majestic Mirage front desk and started to organize with them our accommodations. Requests were made with the reservations in January and a reminder was sent again a few months before our arrival. We requested that the 5 swim up rooms be in the same building. Not even next to each other, just the same building! Please note, I worked in two hotels a small 200 room hotel for 3 years and a 1,200 room Holiday Inn in Toronto for 3 years. (At the time this was the largest hotel in Toronto, I worked front and back desk). I know how to block rooms for a group and accommodate 5 rooms. Honestly that’s one of the easiest tasks to do at front desk, you look ahead and you block. Unfortunately this turned into a disaster. My husband and I stayed in a non swim up room one night and then got moved to a swim up room. One couple had to stay in the family section for two nights and then they were moved. Another couple did not get a swim up room at all, what they had paid for, and they received a $100 credit towards their room. Another couple also did not get a swim up room and was awarded a $100 credit. So to sum up: Booked and paid for swim up rooms, requested in same adult building. Received 2 rooms, non swim up 1 swim up room in building 4 1 swim up room in building 3 (moved after one night) 1 swim up room family building of Mirage (moved after two nights) This is absolutely unacceptable. Our organizer spent 2 hours with front desk clerks, and this was the best they could arrange for us. Yes, the room should be guaranteed!! I understand the location cannot. So two out of the 5 rooms did not get what they paid for! Again, absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! Rooms are great, nice to have the second bathroom! It was very cold in the room the first night even though the thermostats said 25° C, we turned it up to 28, much more palatable! Maids were great, turn down service with flowers is a nice touch. My husband used and enjoyed the hot tub outside almost every night. We used the Bali bed outside our room only once because we were on a shaded side, and we had palm trees on the other. We loved the Bali beds next to the pool, and you don’t have to be out there at 6:00am to snag one. We loved the Mirage Club lounge, always something to eat or drink and well stocked. We paid for and expected an adult section on the beach. Unless you as a guest pointing out that there are children in the adult section, the staff will let it go. They even serve them and chat with them. Several times, the waiters or waitresses had to tell guests with children to go to their proper area because a guest pointed it out. Now the food. The Italian restaurant was the best. The Japanese Teppanyaki was fun too, and the food was delish. The steak house Dom Juame was dangerous. 5 of our party ordered the rib eye, and they were so sick the next day, vomiting and diarrhea. Missing a day on the beach or by the pool when you are on vacation is catastrophic, after all the money we paid for this trip. One of our party missed 2 days, she was so ill. The buffet is really hit and miss, if you want to eat fries, you’ll be good. One night was Dominican night, the salad area was the most popular! Seaside is great for breakfast and lunch, they make excellent omelettes. And the burgers at lunch are enormous and yummy! Because we were club we also went to the Italian restaurant a couple of times for breakfast, this was very good as well, but the three mornings that we went, it was pretty empty, at one point I was the only person in the restaurant. If you are a big fish eater, Seaside is great. Everyone, except me, loved the selection of fish. I’m not a fish person and had the chicken wings, they were delish! Personally I did not like the French restaurant, I ordered the artichoke dish, I had to spit it out, it was stringy and I couldn’t swallow it. The pork belly dish did not have hoisin sauce, they put ketchup, we know the difference! The chateaubriand was very good! The shows are all the same, Michael Jackson show, the Dominican show, Rock Show, etc. if you’ve been in Dominican many times, you’ll understand what I mean. The casino is tiny, we went a couple of nights, won one night, and gave it all back the next. Two couples stayed 10 nights and 3 couple stayed 7 nights, on the Friday when the 7 day couples left, one did not have the $100 credit, more issues. This did get resolved eventually, but we were being challenged. Honestly this whole trip was unnerving from day 1! Lots of confusion and running around. So I know some basic Spanish questions, ‘where’s the bathroom’ etc. I know I’m in their country but if you are in the hospitality business you need to know a few words of many languages. Many times I had to use Google translate to ask simple questions. Like just asking the beach waiter for a slushed drink and not an ice drink, or asking the hostess in the Mirage lounge for a bag of chips, not plantains, she didn’t know ANY English! The last night in the resort we decided to eat in the Italian restaurant. We go to the hostess desk and she tells us it’s a 25 minute wait. The restaurant had many, many empty tables, after pointing this out to the hostess, she said the kitchen was very busy. If you can’t fill the tables then why have so many? As this week was the start of Thanksgiving, I would have anticipated that quite a number of Americans would be making their way south, and foresee that it’s going to be a busy week! One more item to bring up about the restaurants policy, in the French and Italian restaurant men are required to wear a collared shirt, closed toe shoes and pants. We did see them enforcing the pants and closed toe shoes, BUT, we saw several men wearing t-shirts allowed in. If you are going to enforce policy, then enforce it, because it’s not fair to the people who do follow the policy! We were told many, many times that the resort was full, and that was the reason for the room mix up, and basically a lot of issues. We were told by an anonymous employee of upper management that in fact the hotel was not full. If you can’t stand people smoking outside, and in the open areas, like the theatre, then don’t go here, they let people smoke everywhere, and anywhere, cigars too! And I saw two ashtrays the whole time we were there, no one cares about where they are putting their butts! One morning I snagged a bali bed on the beach and in a spot beside the bed were about 20 cigarette butts. We were at the Haven, Riviera Cancun last year this time, and they had designated smoking areas…BRILLIANT! Yenny and Amable, were our butlers, they were fantastic, with answering questions, taking room requests, making restaurant reservations, etc. EXCELLENTE butlers! There was a waiter at Seaside for breakfast who always ran around the table yelling ‘coffee, coffee, coffee’. You’ll know him once you see him, he’s a delight, always positive and has a big smile waiting for you! There are a ton of very friendly cats around, they are very affectionate and will walk up to you for a pet. If you can, bring some treats, they’re so sweet! If it wasn’t for the fact that our group made our own good time then I would have said this was a terrible vacation. Asked of the 10 people we were travelling with, ‘would you come back’ the answer was collectively ‘NO!’. Way too many issues not solved, missing a day or two with food poisoning, mixed up rooms, having to move rooms, not getting what we paid for, etc.
