Poisoned - avoid eating here!!
I became acutely ill while dining at this resort after consuming ceviche. I arrived feeling well, ordered only the ceviche, and became sick while still on the property. I was using Snapchat during my visit, including capturing the sunset shortly before I fell ill and recording the reaction when I realized something was seriously wrong. Snapchat automatically time stamps and GPS tags videos, which clearly shows my location on site at the time symptoms began. My treating physician later confirmed that I am not allergic to shellfish and advised that my reaction was consistent with food contamination or cross contamination. As a result of this incident, I lost four days of my vacation confined to bed due to severe illness. I required urgent care treatment immediately after becoming ill and later required additional IV treatment in order to recover. In addition to this, I was charged $133 for a day pass, despite room rates being available at that same price point. When staff were made aware that I had become ill on site, no medical assistance or support was offered at the property. I contacted management directly and made repeated attempts to resolve this privately and professionally. I requested reimbursement only for the immediate medical expense. Despite providing documentation and medical confirmation, the property refused, stating, “at this time we are unable to cover external medical expenses, as we cannot conclusively establish the origin of the condition.” This review is being posted only after the business declined to make the situation right when given multiple opportunities to do so.

Sunset Cruise with David & Richard = Best Experience
Hands down this sunset cruise was the best boat experience my husband and I have ever experienced. We've traveled and done quite a few places/countries and we agree this was the best. David was awesome in guiding us to snorkel and see a variety of fish, sea spiders, and other things along the reef. Richard was an amazing captain and even made sure to get close to dolphins for us to see. The experience was on our first full day at Flamingo Beach and it really set the tone. Also the ceviche, sandwiches, drinks and music were a bonus. If you're staying at Margaritaville Flamingo do the sunset Cruise, you won't regret it.

Pura Vida! (Don’t hesitate- book today)
Spent 1 week in paradise with my family (family of 4 and 2 grandparents)! We had two rooms- one room 3205 (king size bed facing pool with a balcony) and 3206 (family suite with two queen beds and pull out couch and kitchenette facing away from pool (parking area- no balcony)). The place was fabulous! Nice and simple at this time of the year (first week of December) as it was less than half full. We were wondering there was no pool view for the family suit- but having the room on the opposite side was smart because as bands played at night at five o’clock somewhere bar (pool side rooms heard it all- which often only lasted until 9:30pm but if you have young kids they likely would be in bed earlier and likely enjoy the quiet side). First full day we booked Margaritaville Sunset Cruise- super fun and awesome snorkelling in a sheltered area- great for kids and non swimmers. Second day we headed down to Iguana Surf out of Tamarindo to take surfing lessons. Highly recommend them! Third day we head to LaFortuna (Arenal Canopy Tours). We booked this private full day tour. Left resort at 6am and it was 3.5 hour drive there and back. Headed to the swing bridges, then went to the 10 zipline canopy tour, then to the hot springs. Hot springs were busy but it was nice to see! Home by 9pm. Fourth day we rented a golf cart from across the street -$83 US for a 6 seater. It was fabulous!!! They give you a map with some ideas and we cruised up the mountains on both sides of the resort and also headed out of town to Conchal Beach. It was around 20 minutes on the golf cart then a 10 minute walk in. Super fun to snorkel from the beach on the right hand side. Lots of seashells! Five day two of us went Scuba Diving with Pacific Coast. Awesome and well organized crew! Day 6 beach day!!! Two of us got massages on the beach from Carolina. $40 US for an hour! Best deal ever and you get to listen to the waves come in! Super awesome! She knew what she was doing :). Hard working lady! Margaritaville Resort has the best beach I have ever seen! We have been to the Caribbean lots and this was something else. Some days waves were bigger but overall it was fabulous. Used boogie boards daily from the resort. I felt super safe swimming with my 9 year old and 13 year old. The beach was quiet. So nice and safe to walk anytime. No one bugging you on the beach to buy stuff. Many locals come down on the weekend to enjoy the beach. Just a fun vibe! The food was great - make sure to ask for menus from the breakfast area. They are great to order from if the breakfast buffet is missing your fav items. Booking into the Italian restaurant is importantly to do first thing each morning if you want to eat there. Great pizzas and pasta. The buffet for supper charges themes of food each night. Very good! The pool is great- I was afraid it would be too small. It is well set up for little kids (they have their own zone) and deeper (chest) for the rest of the pool. Lots of water volleyball going on. Awesome bartenders- Staicy, Juan Luis and Elias Flying into Liberia is so much better than San Jose. So much more chill and is located on the out squirt of Liberia. Don’t hesitate- book it - you won’t regret it!!! Pura Vida!!

Great beach vacation at a beautiful resort. I would recommend this resort for relaxation and a great beach. The pool was a good size for a smaller resort.
