We had an excellent time on our holiday in January. Our butlers Karen and Joaquin were the best and took care of every need we had. A great week. In fact so good we are going back in February. If there was a down side, I would suggest they have another restaurant on site. But won’t deter us from going back. I have a severe food allergy, but each restaurant handled it extremely well. I never felt like it was unsafe for me to eat at any establishment. Our butlers helped that issue. Was sorry to hear they did away with the Gala night for members. We missed that. Bring it back please! Loved the hotel and facilities.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya
This was our 2nd time to Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya. We love going there!! The staff make us feel at home & the treatment is fantastic! Food & dining is superb! JWB, Landsharks & Frank & Lola. The Boathouse is a terrific buffet. But, best of all....our butlers!!! Juaquin & Karen went out of their way to make us feel so special! Our 40th Anniversary is coming up & we couldn't have better memories! They are so wonderful. We feel like we have new friends now ❤️

Amazing service, and wonderful atmosphere!!!
This resort is one of our most favorite resorts. The food is always good and we love the atmosphere. My husband and I came for a 2nd time to celebrate our anniversary and were completely spoiled by the Butler's, Joaquin and Karen. They went above and beyond to make our stay so special. Thank you ! ❤️❤️ We can't wait till our next trip here.

Top Notch Resort that met all of our expectations! Highly Recommend!
This resort suited us perfectly. We have travelled to the Mexican Riviera several times and have never been disappointed but this resort tops the list as one of the best. We were not wanting for anything and many times the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The grounds were gorgeous, the rooms beautiful, the food was great and I especially liked Joe Merchant's Coffee. What a treat that was! We only went for a week but next time we will stay longer. A week was not long enough!

Feb 04, 2026Disappointing Return Visit to Margaritaville Cancun Riviera May
This was our second stay at Margaritaville Cancun Riviera Maya in three years, and we have also stayed twice at the sister property in Puerto Morelos. We returned because past experiences were excellent and the resort’s standout feature—premium food quality—set it apart from typical all-inclusives. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Dining was a constant frustration. Securing reservations at Frank & Lola’s and JWB Steakhouse required multiple attempts and escalation to management. Even after finally getting reservations, both restaurants ran at roughly half capacity each night, with many tables unoccupied. It is clear the intention is to push guests toward the buffet. The resort is cutting corners on food, service, and amenities. A striking example is the Italian dish Osso Buco at Frank & Lola’s, which was consistently excellent 3 years in a row, but it has now been removed from the menu entirely. This reflects the broader decline in food quality across the property. On top of that, the JWB Steakhouse was misleadingly named: only the cheapest steak cuts were available (only 1 the night we dined there) without an additional exorbitant surcharge, most of the menu items are not served in a real steakhouse and portion sizes across nearly all restaurants were small. Oceanfront rooms are not peaceful. Loud music from LandShark continued until nearly 1 a.m. on our first night, forcing us to move to another part of the hotel just to get sleep. The gym is inadequate for the number of guests. Equipment is limited, and after our first day, towels were not restocked. Another major inconvenience was the main elevator closest to our room, which was inexplicably shut down early every morning with no explanation, signage, or notice. Drinks have also declined in quality. Many cocktails are now made with pre-fabricated mixes instead of fresh ingredients, further highlighting cost-cutting. Overall, this stay did not reflect the quality, service, or attention to detail we have come to expect from Margaritaville. We are not constant complainers but given our positive history with this resort and its sister property, this was especially disappointing. The resort was something special before, but meaningful improvements are needed to restore what once made it stand out. Based on this experience, we cannot currently recommend Margaritaville Cancun Riviera Maya for travelers seeking the premium, relaxing stay it once offered.
