  Forced hotel change, unsafe room, and no resolution

  I booked Ocean at Taino Beach based on the advertised amenities and conditions. Upon arrival, my reservation was changed without my consent to Coral at Taino Beach. I was then forced to pay an additional USD 260 at check-in and told I would not be allowed to check in if I refused. This fee was not disclosed in my booking confirmation. The Coral room did not have in-room Wi-Fi. The room itself was poorly maintained and unsafe. There were uneven and unstable areas inside the room, and my two daughters fell multiple times and were hurt as a result. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud, making it unbearable to use. I reported this issue repeatedly over five days and requested either a repair or a room change. Each time I was told someone would come, but no action was ever taken. I also emailed the hotel’s internal management team during my stay and never received a response. Overall, this was a serious service failure involving misrepresentation, forced undisclosed charges, unsafe accommodation, and lack of basic guest support. I would not recommend this property based on my experience. The location is very good though

  Beautiful pool, property and beach in a very outdated resort.

  This place is a blast from the past. Pepto Bismol walls, mirrors everywhere and forest green tubs and sinks. Appliances are ancient and don’t work well. Kitchen under equipped. Roman jacuzzi tub behind the bed was amazing. And the deck off the unit was wonderful, overlooking the gorgeous pool and landscaping. The grounds are meticulously maintained and fantastic birds abound. The beach is lovely except when the cruise ship crowds arrive and descend on the pool and beach. You need to get out there before. 10 to grab a chair, but they do leave at 3. Get a car. Skip the expensive resort excursions. Great restaurants but you need a car to get to them. Go to Merport for lunch! Garden of the Groves is wonderful as is the Rand Center. Gold rock beach also beautiful. There is no reason to spend much time inside your ugly unit at such a beautiful place!

  Very tired resort

  Between unfriendly front desk check in, no internet available in the room, sand on the floor of our room on check in, no heat in our room( there was a cold snap), many cupboard doors did not fully close, no dish cloths or a tea towel, no hangars, no bottle opener in the room, no food available on site after 3 pm. AC unit in ceiling dripped and noisy- this resort is not up to RCI standards. The Ocean building is closed due to prior storm damage. On a positive note the pool and the beach were very nice.

  SAD

  We enjoyed our stay in June 2025, but the hot tub was not working and the hours for the resturant closes @ 6pm? The grotto bar closes @ 4 pm? As for the room comfortable enough for me and my husband, we noticed the ac register was leaking look up and seen MOLD!! Reported it to front desk no one came to address the issue? When we returned home my husband became very ill with Legionella pneumonia caused by the mold in the ac register! To top everything else no WIFI was not informed of this until we arrived. We will diffently check all ac units from now on where ever we stay.

  Needs work

  Our room was ok the couch needed to be replaced as it has been well loved. The coffee table was the same way, scratched up with veneer peeling. The television didn't work well and was all fuzzy, we did not have a remote for the living room TV. The remote to the bedroom tv would not turn it on or off or adjust the volume but you could change the channels with it again picture was all fuzzy. We had a full kitchen; we cooked most of our own meals only ate at restaurant 1 time, it closed at 6pm everyday as did the swim up bar in the pool area. Property needs some work done to it, paint peeling, Some of the buildings are closed right now and there were no signs of construction/updates being done. Staff was nice Big Momma is an absolute gem and graciously took us to a gas station when we arrived with her own car so we could get some food and drinks for the night because the bar and restaurant were already closed. Groceries there are expensive, and they only shuttle you to the grocery store on Sun & Mon. you have to get a taxi if you need to go at other times. They offer a shuttle to Lucaya market every hour on the hour, go early in the day that is when most booths at flea market are open. If its after 2pm don't bother most things will be closed.
