Pay to party at the pool for the day but stay somewhere else

I have visited the Cabo area dozens of times over the past many years and have stayed at many of the top hotels. During a prior visit, I had dinner with my wife and a group of friends at Craft. Based on that evening, my wife said she wanted to book at ME Cabo for our next trip, which happened to be for a long Birthday weekend. The overall experience was completely disappointing. The hotel prioritizes non-hotel people paying day rates to come and party at the pool over the quality of service and attention provided to actual hotel guests. The same hotel guests who also spend money at restaurants and for other hotel services. My experience started the first day after I was told that I could not get an umbrella for my wife because they didn't have any. After further addressing this with the staff, I was brought to an area where there were additional open chairs with available umbrellas and they placed reserved signs on them for me. I walked away to get my wife, and we returned just a few minutes later to find the umbrella was now gone. I again addressed that with the staff and it took another 20 minutes to get a replacement. At that point, we had enough and decided to just head out of the hotel and walk to downtown. The next morning, I thought I would give the pool another shot but decided to order some room service breakfast first. When I called to order an omelet for my wife, I was told there were no omelets available. I was however instructed that I could get scrambled eggs, but only that, and none of the other egg dishes that were listed on the regular room service menu. From that point, I walked downstairs to talk to the front desk, as it made no sense. I was then told that I couldn’t order the breakfast items on the room service menu because the Mamazzita restaurant had a buffet that day. What difference should that make? I have never heard of anything so absurd. Furthermore, I have never gone to a hotel restaurant to eat breakfast, serving a buffet that didn’t offer omelets or even an à la carte menu option for guests eating at the restaurant. Why do you even have a room service menu? I then walked to Mamazzita to at least try to get a couple of cappuccinos to take back to the room when I was approached by a manager who must have caught wind of my conversation and offered to have some omelets made for me. I told him that I was already fed up and was going to move to another hotel, but he was insistent and took care of me. While waiting for my food, I walked to the pool and asked for a couple of sunbeds set up with an umbrella for me and my wife. After our food arrived, we walked to the pool only to find people sitting in the chairs that were set up for me. Done with the hotel at the point we decided to just leave for the day. When we came back later that day, we decided to sit at Taboo and have a couple of drinks and some food. We tried a couple of “craft cocktails” that were nothing special, so afterwards I asked for a specific drink from one of the pool staff. She took my order, but later returned and told me that they could make it on the rocks but not blended because they don’t have a blender? The grass hut in the dirt lot down the street even has a blender. What resort hotel doesn’t have a blender? The next day, we just headed out of the hotel first thing to have breakfast downtown and didn’t even return to the hotel until the afternoon to watch the Super Bowl game at Craft. That was ok, but do you really need to price-gouge the hotel guests with a special Super Bowl menu? A single beef skewer, not much more than 3 ounces, with a couple of pieces of pita and some tzatziki for $82? The next morning, we again walked downtown to grab breakfast, and I was happy to head home after that. Quite a memorable Birthday weekend and overall poor hotel experience. I should have left after day one, but ignorantly remained optimistic that things would improve. That was not the case. Total waste of a trip and probably a waste of my time to even write this, as I normally wouldn’t bother, but this was such a poor experience that I felt compelled to leave a review.

    Exhausted after the stay.

Where do I even begin... First of all, we didn't feel like we were welcomed at the hotel, the check in process was horrible and we were told that we need wear our keys at all times, there were problem with my credit card. anyway, it might just be that one person, but I wasn't feeling relaxed after spending all that money for the room. We were assigned a concierge, and she basically responded super slowly or didn't even bother respond, honestly, I don't even feel like I have a concierge helping. Now on to the room, the first day our towel in the room were missing a bunch, the one that we got had red stain on it, the faucet is also kind of broken, it would only stay on for 10 sec before it closes. The shower doesnt have a showerhead which is sort of inconvenient in my opinion. The key broke twice and the key fob went out of battery, my friend and my room both had the same problem. There are a few times we called the front desk, and no one picks up the phone. The beach had so many salesperson that it's impossible to be left alone and enjoy the scenery.....too much commercial stuff going on, The music running from like noon to like 12am at night, I'm not a picky person really but spending $700 on a room looking for a relax and luxury experience not too much to ask, honestly, I feel exhausted after the stay...maybe its just me.

Outstanding service from every team member we encountered. Everyone went above and beyond for us and we felt completely relaxed throughout our stay. The hotel was clean, had incredible food and was in the best location. We will definitely be back.
