Sep 24, 2026Melissa Athens Stress Free Vacation
We tell our Travel Agent we want a hotel in the heart of the city with breakfast buffet included or offered. Who wants to get up the first day of a trip and can’t find coffee and breakfast included the property! Melia Athens is an amazing property. Rooms have small fridge, lots of space for 2 people and their luggage. Buffet in the morning was a great spread of fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries. Plus meats, breads and cheese. Coffee machine where you can choose specific coffees The roof bar and pool were amazing with the view of the city. We ate lunch in the restaurant which shares small bites menu with the bar. All the staff from check-in, to food service were wonderful. We contacted the front desk via email before our trip. They were able to contract a cab to pick us up at the airport at 11:30 pm and also arrange service to our cruise ship at check out. Talk about a stress free visit.

Melia is always a good idea
We traveled as a couple in September. Chose the hotel for rooftop pool and location. We were not disappointed. Fabulous hotel, large, comfy rooms, cleaned daily, great amenities in room. One thing I will mention is the lighting. If you use the bathroom during the night, due to the glass panels in the bathroom the light shines brightly and directly into the bedroom. Also the bathroom door has massive gaps round the edge so not much privacy. On a more positive note the reception team were very helpful and welcoming. The rooftop pool is stunning, just what you needed after being out in the gorgeous weather, great views, good drinks and food. We did not eat in the restaurant or use the bar at night. A great 5 night stay was had. We would return. With regards to the area. Not as bad as some reviews say. Omonia metro is 5 mins away and you can get anywhere in Athens quickly and cheaply. The Omonia area was not the best to look at and after midnight it wasn’t the most busy but you just need to keep your wits about you.

Aug 24, 2026Just okay
Stayed overnight on a trip out of Athens and was happy it was only for a night. Service from staff was inconsistent. Breakfast was just okay, few options and scant even early in the breakfast service hours. One standout was the wonderfully comfortable beds. This is more of a residential neighbourhood with some quirks and most significant sites are not within easy walking distance. Fortunately, taxis are quite reasonable in Athens so if you prefer to be near the action, this isn’t really the place. Having stayed at other Melia properties, this one was a bit of a letdown.

Fantastic start to our Greek island tour!
Excellent hotel in every aspect! I’ll explain why: 1. Location - centrally located, nothing is too far and we used uber/ local taxis to get most places and they were reasonably priced. The views from the rooftop bar/restaurant/pool area are stunning especially and night and we finished our evenings off there on each of the 3 nights we stayed. I’ve seen some reviews stating the hotel is in a dodgy area - we did not think so! 2. Service was excellent throughout - from a late evening check in through to check out - staff were polite and courteous and most importantly helpful. 3. The food was great in the rooftop restaurant! We ate there in the first night and then had snacks throughout our stay. 4. The pool area is fantastic! There aren’t many loungers so if you do want some together you might struggle unless you get there at 10.30 when the area opens. That suited us as we spent time by the pool in the morning and went out exploring in the early evening when it wasn’t so hot! 5. Value for money. We had two rooms during the height of the summer and I thought the price paid was reasonable, particularly compared to other hotel brands. All in all, a great stay and a wonderful start to our holiday. Thank you Melia Athens!

Great stay
Well located. , very. Comfortable clean rooms. with a great mattresses !! Polite helpful staff. . Basically you know what you’re going to get at Melia and Athens certainly delivers . I choose the hotels I stay on the gym first . I. looked ok online … it was oldish Tecnogym equipment but acceptable. To my surprise and absolute joy it’s all been upgraded and is brand new Tecnogym equipment 👏👏👏 Makimg such investment and not advertising it to guests on Its website is modest and silly too . Well done though 👏👏👏👏 Great breakfast choice and great stay Thank You.
