DO NOT STAY HERE, NOT SAFE!!!!

PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE, IT IS NOT SAFE!!!!! The hotel is located at the worst possible location, way too many homeless people, garbage all over the place... That is somehow understandable due to the difficult situation Greece is having; however it is inconceivable that they don't have any security there... NO ONE! You are basically all by yourself. On April 2024, we were picking up our luggage and someone from outside came in and took my wife's backpack where we had all of our passports. When they showed me the surveillance cameras, you can actually see the moment where the Albanian homeless takes the backpack and the guy from the front desk walks into him just to ask him if he needed something. But when me wife came back to ask for the backpack, the response was that someone just took it. To be clear, I know the guy is from Albania because at the end of the day, tI managed to catch the thief with the help of the police, following them with the "Find my Iphone" app, but the passports were already gone. After that, the hotel provided some help with the international calls and calling the police, but after other than that... nothing. They took CERO responsibility; they even said that there was nothing they can do because the lobby is a public space. They said that they couldn't help us with a room, and that they will not pay for any other hotel... So there were we, with a 4 year old daughter, in the wild. My wife wrote the next day to Melia International, and the response was that they provided all the help and that we decided to stay, even after advising that the Tourist Police could give us a paper to leave the country (which by the way, is not true).

    Pool now open. Lovely stay

Stayed just one sunday night here. We parked free outside the hotel easily. Check in was easy and overall all the reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. They gave advice and maps to help us. Great budget clothing shops and coffee shops in the area to wander round. Straight walk to plaka in 10 mins. Our room was a supreme double. We had a rollaway bed for our daughter in our room. Jacuzzi bath and jet shower were much appreciated on achy muscles. THE POOL IS NOW OPEN !!! However, the bar and jacuzzi are not yet. There were a couple of loungers by the pool too. Breakfast buffet was nice. The usual cooked food, yoghurts, breads etc. Id stay here again. Sadly didn't get time to use the other facilities.

    Disappointing, not usual Melia standard

The hotel is nice enough. Modern and clean. However, the reason we chose this hotel was because it had a rooftop bar and pool with a view of the Acropolis. This was closed for maintenance when we checked in on 24/3/24. When I said to the hotel that they should have this on their website so that people have the option to change hotel before they arrive. To which I was told it was the responsibility of our travel company. No Melia, it is your hotel, your responsibility to notify if facilities are out of use. Very disappointing as there were other hotels with a pool we could have stayed at nearby. Breakfast was also chaos ! The staff could not keep up with the amount of guests, and the restaurant rarely had tables free. Now I have seen Athens I wouldn’t go again. Hotel is also not in the best area, some rough sleepers etc

Great place to stay, lovely hotel

Great stay, great location for exploring Athens. We had a lovely room which was very clean, good bathroom, again very clean. The breakfast was good with lots of choice. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which again was lovely. Our family was well looked after! Thank you!

    Not recomendable

Careful! They will charge for everything that they want from the minibar although you didn't even know there was a minibar in the room. After send different emails trying to solve the issue, they just say that they are right and they keep your money from the credit card
