Beautiful, Quiet resort with wonderful staff
I have a rule of never going back to the same place twice but this can be the exception. Rooms: Quiet, clean, big with a very comfortable bed. Internet was good and the TV had some english speaking stations. Resort: Clean, Midsize and it wasn't a concrete jungle. The room numbers do not match the building numbers so you must look for your building number first. Beach sand was heavier than other parts of Cuba but still very nice. Lots of shade for those who want it. Night entertainment: Was OK. The bands in the lobby should have played on the stage in my opinion. Food was very good. (Much better than the food I had at a RIU in Mexico a few weeks before). I never tried the a la cartes but were told they were quite good. The bread was the best that I have ever tasted also the same as the ice cream. Pizza was very good. Lots of meats and fish to choose from. Staff: Yellow staff (management, I think) ensure that everything was going well and ensuring you were happy. We had a priviledge reservation and as soon as we arrived we were greeting and personally check in, with a glass of champagne. Luggage was locked away since we arrive so early in the morning, until our room was ready. This included a lovely meal that was made sure not to include foods you didn't like. They also had an excellent 3 piece band for background music. The rest of the staff was also amazing attentive, always with a smile. Tipping: They prefer American bills or Pesos. Bring lots and be generous because of the great job they do. Note: If you can bring some dry cat food as they warm your heart. This restort is quiet so if you are a big partier, it is not for you but if you want a quiet place with good food and nice beach, you will be welcomed with open arms.

A great place for varied interests
Travelling as a couple with kids in their late teens and early twenties can be a challenge. How do you find a place that checks all the boxes for everyone? For us, this is definitely the place. We’ve tried to do it elsewhere, but we always agree that Memories Jibacoa is the best. Great variety at the buffet for different tastes. The beach is quite for readers and sleepers. Easy to find a spot in the shade for the 4 of us. The sea is alive with a reef just off shore for hours of snorkelling exploration. Great entertainment in the evening, or play some pool, or watch the show while playing pool! The staff is also a highlight at this resort, once again we’ve tried other places and have yet to find staff that work together to make your experience as coherently as this place. To top it off, anytime you want to go off resort you can find a friendly driver, with or without a guide to take you on day trips for a reasonable price. Havana, Matanzas and Varadero are all within driving distance from here. Negatives? It can be a little hot in August, so we’re going back in January!

Delightful, with two improvement suggestions.
We had a lovely time. Enjoyed the hotel location, the beach, hotel grounds and layout. Considering the scarcity and economic conditions in Cuba our expectations were exceeded. The staff were helpful and friendly. Two areas for improvement: 1) As a vegetarian I found very little in the way of protein. This could easily be remedied by preparing beans, lentils etc in a non-meat base. For example, there was often a chick pea dish in the buffet however usually there were small meat chunks mixed in to it, and was most likely cooked in a meat based broth rendering it inedible by vegetarins. Black beans and chickpeas seem available, so cooking them without meat would help satisfy the vegetarian and vegan guests. 2) the two pickle ball courts are great to have at the resort, but one was entirely unusable due to extreme surface cracks. The one we used was a little better, but again still dangerous due to cracked surfaces in places and a sizable manhole cover tripping hazard. Overall, we loved the location, service, cleanliness and the beach, and we look forward to returning.

Memories Jibacoa - Safe and Sound
We have been to this hotel many times and it really is our second home. I usually write about how great the staff is and how the tennis pro Alberto is the best tennis instructor that I have ever met and how the entertainment staff try to make your holiday everything you are wanting it to be. This is all still true but there are 2 things probably more important that I want to address. The first is that you have probably heard about the 4 diseases that are being carried by mosquitos. I asked about them before we went and were told that they are a problem in the towns but not on the resort because they spray, cut the grass and don't allow garbage to collect, We were there for 2 weeks and I never saw a mosquito. I would still suggest you bring extra bug spray, use it every time you go out in the evening and leave it for the Cubans when you go home. The second thing I would like to comment on is food, I think this is a big worry for people going to Cuba these days. the truth is that inspite of their best efforts there may be a few items that they can't get at a particular time. For example this trip they didn't have tonic water for a few days. This hotel is very proactive at ensuring they have most current and future food needs met. You hear stories about Varadero hotels running out of things for days on end. This is not the case at Memories Jibacoa. They rarely run out of anything and if they do it is usually available again in a few days
