Amazing Time
Excellent place to relax and have fun at the same time - you can snorkel right from the beach. Be mindful of the weather. The corral reef is huge and you can go there either from the beach or from paddle boat. Diving club is opened , there are good diving on reasonable price Instructors are friendly and very careful, and very talented. The staff is nice and everybody is doing their best . Food is good with elements of seasonality. Fish - is from the ocean. Activities - every night there is a different show. Not crowded . I was there my 9th trip , there are many repeaters. Our second home. NO doubts.

We keep coming back
We spent 4 weeks at Memories Jibacoa. Arrived on November 5 the day before Hurricane Rafael. Although the hurricane was not as bad here as in other areas of Cuba the staff made sure everyone was safe. We did not experience any shortages of electricity as the resort has generators. We enjoyed our stay very much. Why do we come back here? The food is very good although there may be shortages of certain items we still had an amazing selection of food. The entertainment is excellent - daily activities and evening entertainment can keep you busy if you like. The tennis, snorkeling, great selection of food, and entertainment keep us coming back. The nightly entertainment is really first class - Opera night, Cuban night... the musicians and dancers really showcase Cuba's culture of music and dance. This was our 5th time here most recently in 2022 and 2023. However we always seem to miss an invite to the repeat visitors' party.

Awesome Once Again
We have been to this resort many times and are booked to go again. The question upper most on people's minds is in regard to the power black outs. The hotel has its own generator so for the 2 weeks we were there, we always had power. The second question would be about the food . Food was always plentiful and good quality. There are some things in short supply but lack of food was not an issue. The room we had was wonderful, the location was great as was the cleaning. The hotel always seem to have one building closed for renovations so they can continuously update the rooms. The buffet was an always full of options and most nights you had three or four options for an entree, as well as a huge selection of other dishes. Food was not always kept as warm as it should be. The broad selection of great desserts was an adventure on their own. There were only 2 a la carte restaurants open while we were there and the food was excellent in both. The staff are incredible, and always do their best to make your vacation great . Tennis is an important part of our vacation and this resort has a great tennis coach, as well as 2 good tennis courts. ( there is even pickle ball) The grounds are beautifully laid out but this year the maintenance is lacking . You used to see the same gardener outside your room cleaning , weeding and maintaining hedges and flower beds. This year there are more weeds, the grass is allowed to get long, there is more garbage and the areas more removed from the core areas are getting very limited attention . There are stage shows every evening featuring music and dancing, opera night is great, aqua ballet is always popular. Music in the restaurants was missing this time but there was usually some music in the lobby area from 8-9 or so. The is also music in the Piano Bar after the show

A remote and quiet resort
I have been to Cuba more than 10 times and stayed at a few different resorts in varadero. I was looking for a quiet vacation and found this resort fit the bill. The reviews I read before praised the staff to the point I thought the staff wrote the reviews but I would agree the staff were excellent. Throughout the day there were many activities including Spanish lessons which Jordi made fun. There is a daily hike alternating between a steep climb up the hill and a leisurely walk around it. Lots of other activities throughout the day. My room was excellent for the most part. I had a issue with my safe and it was dealt with quickly. My maid was excellent. I did upgrade to diamond club now called premium for 15 us a day. Given the price it was worth it but don't expect luxury services. The plugs in my room were all 220 and narrower than my devices could use. The gift shop sells adapters for 10 dollars. I only turned on the TV once and there was no signal and others said there were no English channels. Cuba has always experienced shortages but there was always lots of food. I never saw so many condiments in a Cuban resort. Perhaps there was a lack of variety day to day but that is often the case in Cuba. I enjoyed the a la cart restaurants and the use of the a la cart for breakfast and dinner as part of my upgrade. I liked the beach a lot. There was sufficient shade if so desired. The main attraction is the coral reef with many repeat visitors snorkeling daily. The weather was windy and there were jellyfish around causing almost everyday to have a red flag which most people ignored. The beach in varadero is sandier and bigger but I found it fine with beach shoes. The pool area has limited shade and most days it was reserved via the towel game. Generally it was clean and well maintained. The sunwing/WestJet rep was around allot and very helpful. The diamond club reps were always asking if things were good. The servers did come to your seat and ask if you need a drink. There was not a lot of staff doing this but the ones that did worked hard. Talking to other travelers who did some independent travel noted power issues while busing around Cuba but the resort has power 100% of the time. A couple times the generators might have kicked in briefly. A couple who spent a month here including during the hurricanes said the only interruption they had was for 3 hours while they waited for more diesel. Overall my experience was very good. Based on a Cuban rating and allowances for the difficulties Cuba is facing I will say 5 stars but if you are someone who dwells on little things perhaps Cuba is not the destination for you.
