Could work … but you must know

I don’t usually read or write any reviews because , well , we all have different needs and perspectives and financials… and because I am in the travel profession. So why am I so inclined to leave a review on this hotel? Let’s start…. This hotel is missing the mark on so many points … yet , if it was not an all inclusive and claiming to be a resort , it could work beautifully for you. It has the same vibe as a Marriott Garden Inn or an old hotel that you may see redone in north Miami. If you are looking for an All Inclusive Resort , this doesn’t hit it. The food is not even sub par… schools serve better food. I will go as far as saying it is not even edible. The drinks are terrible… and for most this may be a selling point on the All Inclusive. Now the price point , sure it hits a two star All Inclusive bringing in the folks looking for a low budget resort …. So let’s talk about that …. Can you even call this hotel a resort? No. The amenities are not there… it is not a resort. There is nothing ,one bar for the pool And restaurant outside, and beach … serving up drinks that would make any happy hour lover feel not so happy … and you can sit at the bar next to a 8 year old who is demanding to be served … yes , you will have bartenders and great runners on the beach who will provide that warm Mexican charm and will make you feel like you are at a nice tropical hotel … and I give them kudos for that , however, … you are not at a nice tropical hotel … you are back in college when you went down to Daytona and you wondered why there was so much paint on the walls covering up other old paint and why door handles fell off when turned …. And really wondering why that same handprint has been on the glass for 4 days … but at least in Daytona the beer was hitting the spot … Melia , this didn’t work… this would be a great airport hotel, with a beach , big bonus … we love all the restaurants in Cancun and we have 4 teenagers … so I can not say we had a terrible time , no , we had a nice time … we learned quickly to use the hotel as a place to sleep … and then we spent the day and meals off campus …

    Disaster

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from Nov 24, 2025 til Dec 1, 2025. I am writing this review while we pack to get out if here on Sunday evening, Nov 30/25. We booked this hotel, even though it was not an adults only location, because they offered this "LEVEL" option which gave you some private areas that we thought might be some quiet ways to get away from the "family" dynamic. It turns out, everyone takes the"LEVEL" option, espcially folks with 3 toddlers and a baby in tow. My mistake....nothing against kiddies having fun....just got fooled by the sales pitch. But here's where it goes downhill for everyone. The food service is a big issue. The Buffet selection is extremely limited, and very crowded. Your solution SHOULD BE, the 3 restaurants which require reservations of course. Reservations for the night are taken starting at 9am the same day. Very tight window considering we are on vacation and shouldn't have to follow such a strict schedule. I had some help with reservations from my "personal concierge"(a LEVEL benefit) but I'm not sure everyone was able to take advantage of that as the benefits of the concierge were not clearly explained..I think I'm just a little more inquisitive than others. Food was "OK" except for steaks. I have never had a steak that I could not tell what type of meat it was. It was cooked on a flat top...no char broiling. But the meat was tasteless....it wasn't beef, it wasn't veal, it wasn't pork, it wasn't lamb or goat. I think it was a new "hybrid" meat being developed as a cheap substitute to beef....think I'm imaging things?......come taste it first yourself. One of the most important things I want to mention is the security issue. At first, I thought I would recommend this place is for families ONLY. Just too many screaming kids running amok day and night and late into the night. That's fine if you believe thats the only way kids can have fun is screaming at the top of their lungs all day...I didn't raise my kids that way. But, for you families planning to bring your kids here BEWARE. I've been to many resorts in the Caribbean but I've never seen one with such lax security. It seems that when the weekend comes along, the locals infiltrate the area. That's fine, as the locals deserve a chance to relax at the public beaches. BUT security staff at this hotel seemed to enjoy a long chat with the locals while many of them came walking through our chair areas....not a big deal right? Well, many have cell phones and other personal items at their chairs while they are in the water for a dip. Some even have a child or two at the chairs building a sand castle. Although I'm sure 99.9% of the locals are beautiful, God loving people, it only takes one bad apple to lead to disaster. All the hotel has to do is post a couple guard to watch our stuff and try to keep non patrons away.....just TRY. But, my experience was that the "guards" wanted to chat with their compadres instead of watching out for my safety and the safety of all those kids around. Honestly, I was going to say "Don't come here. families only". Now, I'd be concerned for kids safety as well....I understand staff wants to be nice to their local friends but sorry....it's their job to watch our stuff and our kids first. By the way, there is plenty of public beach for the locals. Lots of water and sand to share. Just leave us alone in our area, THAT WE PAID FOR!!! This hotel needs to make some major improvements.....safety first!!

    No thanks!

I’m 24 hours into my stay and I can’t wait to leave. The food is awful. They do not have English TV for the kids and let’s see, the shower water is tepid, did I say the food was awful, especially the Italian restaurant and the red wine included is blech. Won’t be coming back here.

Not Suitable Unless Your A Family With Young Kids

This is a resort for families with kids! My wife and I were there for two weeks in November 2025. There were kids running around in the dining room playing tag during dinner hours. Other times there were kids rolling around on the floor during dinner. I almost stepped on them! The staff looked the other way! There were a couple in the room next to us with a young child. Every morning the child was awake between 5:30 and 6:30 screaming for his parents attention! The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything! The first room they assigned us had virtually no space to store your clothes! 4 small drawers and no place to hang anything. Leave your clothes in your suitcase for two weeks! Finally got a room with at least a small space to hang up some clothes! There was no place in the room to hang up wet bathing suits. No hooks in the bathroom and because I didn’t pay for a suite there was no balcony to hang anything. Most rooms in this category had no furniture except the bed and this was an upgrade over the base room! No chairs or a table. Finally got a room with one chair and although the rooms were very large, no furniture. All the photos of the resort and rooms showed the rooms with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Not unless you upgraded to a suite which was significantly more. All rooms were ocean front and our room had a window which if you walked up to it you could look out and see the ocean! The food was better than average for an all inclusive but you wouldn’t want to have to spend much time in the room!
