Just ok…like a larger hotel
The resort was very low key with not much activity to it. We travelled with family which included a pre-teen and two older teens. There was nothing for them to do. The resort suites couples looking to stay to themselves or families with small children. The staff was friendly in all areas. Both pools were very cold. We have travelled every December prior to the holidays at different locations and this was the first time I did not enter the pool once. Only one person in our party of 6 did, and that was to go to the pool bar. Most parties stayed to themselves as there was not much socialization. Evening activities were limited. Karaoke was fun, but they started late and ended early which the guests were bummed about. We are used to active social resorts. This was not it. The rooms were just standard rooms. Nothing overly negative or positive. The grounds were well taken care of but the walk areas around most of the resort are extremely slick when wet. The staff did well to try and take care of it. The ocean was hit or miss with seaweed. We walked down past the jet ski location past the sea wall and on the other side was clear blue water just past the wave break. The buffet got better as we got closer to the weekend. It seemed they had more guests so it was a larger variety then. The food was ok. The Fish House was the best restaurant. There were limited options to snack especially at that 3-4pm hour between pool and dinner time. This property may be for some, but I don’t believe we’d come back in the future.

Nice property but not good food
Nice property and people worked there were nice . We thought snorkeling gear was included but nope it was not. Water merky due to pier next to hotel so next hotel over had beautiful water for snorkeling. Again , food options are VERY limited . Ridiculous trying to book at one of their 3 nice restaurants but when we ate there it had plenty of empty tables . Buffett was not that good but only other option for dinner since other restaurants are always booked .

Great resort, mediocre food
We enjoyed our stay at Melia Cozumel, this is a smaller resort but still big enough that it felt luxurious. I eat plant based food so I was looking for a resort with decent plant based food options. Melia advertised that they offer plant based food, which they do, but it was a bit over stated. There are 2 restaurants, and the buffet. The restaurants were great, and had good plant based options. However, upon arrival we learned that the restaurants are only available by reservation, and of course they were quite booked up. They also only allow a certain number of reservations, depending on how many nights you are staying. We were staying 7 nights so we got 2 restaurant reservations, and otherwise we ate at the buffet...which was, okay. The food was fresh and decent, but the plant based options were quite limited at the buffet, depending on the day. They also have a 2-tier system, essentially general guests and the "Level". The Level is sold as a premium experience, in reality it seemed to just be a different building on the resort with a few additional restaurants, and they had access to certain areas of the beach where us commoners did not. They could also reserve cabanas, whereas we could not. The beach was pretty nice and the room was clean and as expected. Overall we had a nice experience, and especially for the cost we thought it was good value.

Excellent!
The place is fabulous, the beach is always clean, and the staff provides exceptional service. The food was very good especially at the fish restaurant. A particular shout out to Gerardo who personally took care of us everyday. Friendly, efficient, punctual, he always provided the necessary information and unexpected touches that made our stay memorable. Many thanks to the entire team that makes this place what it is.
