Not Comming Back
My husband and I spent two nights at the Molokai Shores over Christmas. The location is central to the island. The spectacular view of Lanaʻi, an ancient fishpond, and the sunrise from our room was awesome. The room was mostly clean except for thick dirt on the top of the fridge, the top kitchen shelves, and light dirt on the living room floor since the back sliding door was left open. There was also a bunch of giant roach poop on dishes in one of the bottom kitchen cabinets. The TV remotes needed cleaning, the clocks needed new batteries (all the times were wrong), and the fold-out bed in the living room was extra uncomfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking tools. The family pictures of the condo owner around the place were off-putting, but the maps of Molokai on the wall were awesome. We could hear the traffic from the highway in the bedroom and a few gunshots at night on the night before Christmas Eve, probably people hunting for their Christmas dinner. There was no way to get extra towels for the pool or beach. Due to a hidden $139 cleaning fee and a $30 "parking pass" (magic marker on scratch paper), my $135 a night Kamaʻaina rate turned into $275 a night with taxes, so it was not really worth it. The lady who "checked us in" at the condo HOA office was grumpy, but Donna at Castle was nice. People who live at the condos scratched our car rental twice, and we can't help but think it was because the "parking pass" identified us as outsiders. Of course, no one answered the phone, including Castle Resorts, on Christmas Day when we tried to ask about any security camera footage for the police report. The police officer came right away and was nice and helpful. Forget about trying to get cell phone coverage (T-Mobile) at the resort.

Stay Away!!!
Unit #205 in Bldg. A was filthy. The screens on the balcony doors were broken. The railings on the staircase leading to the room were caked with dirt. Unit obviously hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The office person was disinterested and put out when we asked if there was any tours available. Her answer was NO! Also not helpful in finding local restaurants. We had a 3 day reservation which we cancelled on the spot. Very disappointing.

Very dirty room
This has been the worst hotel experience in my last 20 years. Unfriendly and bored people at the reception. Room completely dirty and very strong smell of mold. Met spiders, bugs, ants and cockroaches in the room. Fan not working and fly screen broken that all the moscitos had a free entrance. Absolutely awful.

Best view ever!
Only stayed the one night but what a lovely sight in the morning! Only an expanse of grass between us and the palms and the Pacific. Watched a dozen boys play shuffle board while 6 or 7 people who've clearly retired went off on a two hour hike--made us smile.
