  Some Great Memories, But We Wouldn't Return

  I can't recommend Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana. For a resort marketed as a premium, family-focused vacation, the food, service, maintenance, and amenities fell far below expectations. There were some genuinely great moments for our kids — but they weren't enough to outweigh the problems. Food & Dining This was the biggest disappointment, and not because of one bad meal — the quality was consistently poor. Breakfast was routinely cold after the first morning. Lunch options were limited, with Aqua Bite by the pool becoming our default: cold burgers, over-fried chicken, soggy fries, subpar pizza. Dinner meant just the buffet plus one other restaurant most nights, which is surprisingly limited for an all-inclusive. When a storm knocked out one venue, they opened another, but the underlying food quality didn't improve. Beef dishes in particular were bad enough to be essentially inedible. The one standout was the character breakfast (included through our Costco Travel package) — genuinely one of the better experiences of the trip. Water & Illness I became sick during the trip, as did other members of my party. I can't prove the water caused it, and I don't want to state that as fact without testing — but having multiple people in our group affected was concerning. Bottled water in our room also wasn't reliably restocked; I had to request more several times. Kids' Activities Our kids enjoyed the water park when it was functioning, and the evening activities (discos, games) were fun. Characters appeared around the property, though finding them and figuring out the schedule was hit or miss. The clear highlight of the whole trip was paying extra to get the kids personally slimed — worth every penny, and a memory they'll likely keep long after they've forgotten the rest of the vacation. That said, some of the free video-game equipment in the kids' lounge was broken, and the paid arcade games were overpriced at $5 for 3 tokens. Rooms & Maintenance The property felt worn and overdue for a refresh — it didn't just feel old, it felt like maintenance had been deferred. More seriously, the door between our room and the exterior pool area didn't lock properly, which is a real safety concern at a resort full of children. Housekeeping was inconsistent: face cloths weren't always replaced, and the minibar wasn't reliably restocked. Service & Checkout Service was inconsistent throughout our stay. Checkout took close to an hour, and we found charges on our final bill for items that should have been included — I'd recommend anyone staying here review their bill carefully before paying. Other Guests' Experiences We weren't the only unhappy family. One father told us his family had been moved between rooms four or five times due to ongoing issues. Another couple told us they were cutting their trip short after only a day and a half. We also heard about a serious plumbing failure in another family's room — I didn't witness it myself, so I'll leave it at that, but it added to the overall picture of a property with real maintenance problems. Bottom Line The sliming experience and the character breakfast were genuinely great — exactly the kind of memory we hoped a Nickelodeon vacation would deliver. But those bright spots existed inside an overall resort experience that wasn't good enough: cold food, limited dining, a room safety issue, inconsistent housekeeping, and a frustrating checkout. The property needs real investment in maintenance, food quality, and service consistency before we'd consider going back.

  BEWARE: Families & Allergy Guests Must Read Before Booking

  BEWARE... First this resort is NOT friendly to out of towners. Limited English speaking staff, they even had the kids movie in Spanish. I had high hopes for this resort but NEVER again. I came to this resort with my adult sister and my 6-year-old daughter expecting a safe, enjoyable vacation at a five-star property. Instead, we experienced a dirty room, horrible service and two serious food safety incidents in just 2 days out of our 6 day stay that required medical attention and resulted in zero proactive response from resort management. Incident One — Verdello Restaurant My 6-year-old daughter bit into a chicken nugget and spit out a large silver metal foreign object embedded inside. Management was notified, apologized, and promised a Guest Services follow-up call the next day. That call never came. I had to personally go to the front desk to request an update and ask that an incident report be filed, something the resort should have initiated immediately. Chicken nuggets remained on the menu the following day with no resolution. My daughter has had tooth pain since the incident. Incident Two — Spacewalker Restaurant My sister has a documented tree nut and peanut allergy, which she disclosed multiple times to our server before ordering dessert. Despite being told repeatedly she was safe, she bit into macadamia nuts hidden in the ice cream served alongside her brownie, none of which was listed on the menu. She suffered an allergic reaction requiring an emergency steroid injection at the resort's medical facility. Hours earlier she had been turned away from help when the front desk transferred her call which then disconnected to a busy signal, forcing her to leave her room at night to seek treatment in person. The Resort's Response No proactive outreach was made at any point. All follow-up was initiated by us. My sister was denied a complete copy of her own signed medical and incident report documentation. Our travel agent ultimately had to escalate on our behalf because the resort failed to do so. We ended up leaving the resort and moving to a safer resort nearby to finish out the rest of our stay. Still awaiting next steps from the resort for a full refund. It's been over a week and still no refund. Book at your own risk.

  Spend your money elsewhere!

  I have traveled with my kids to different states, countries, resorts, hotels, etc and never had an experience like we had at the Nickelodeon resort in Punta Cana. I waited almost two hours around the lobby and in the Prestige lobby to upgrade our room since I was told I couldn’t do it online because we booked with a travel voucher. The manager, Miqueas, then proceeds to take a Spanish speaking couple who walked up while I waited after another gentleman before handling my upgrade. Strike one. Next, my daughters and I attempted to go to the buffet. Not one waiter/waitress comes to take our drink order but I noticed they are going to the white folks and to the lighter color tables who spoke Spanish often to check in with them. I had to ask on two separate occasions in the buffet for a waitress to come get our drink order. I shared this with our Prestige concierge and he spoke with the manager of the buffet. It was then and only then that I noticed a shift. There were more darker Dominicans in the buffet as waitress/waiters and everyone suddenly had better hospitality. Lastly, we stayed 7 days and two days before our last day, it poured down rain. Our room Flooded! Every room in building 9 that was a swim up, got water to some degree. It happened around 5 pm and I called twice. I took the kids to dinner because the water was stinky and smelled like sewage. We came back around 8 pm and the room was still dirty and smelled after they said they would clean it up and I physically left them in the room. I went to the front desk and told them we needed to change rooms because I refused to remain in that smelly room. Lastly, the overall condition of the property is poor. It needs to be upgraded for the amount of money that you spend and there isn’t much to do if you are there for more than 3 days

  Great experience for younger kids, and staff were always attentive and helpful

  We picked Nickelodeon DR for a 2 adult, 2 kid (10 year-old and 8 year-old) holiday using Jet Blue to include flights, hotel, and transport to and from the airport. We stayed Sunday to Friday in July. The hotel was at around 60% capacity. The kids loved the lazy river the most. The mocktails were well done for the kids. Our 8 year-old loved the water slides, but the 10 year-old was underwhelmed. He would have liked something for bigger kids, but we knew we were booking into an experience that was catered to younger ones. The buffet was easy and decent for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went to the other restaurants at 5PM'ish, so we did not have problems getting in. Burgers PH was the winner, easily. The Machete Burger was both fun and actually very good. Our 10 year-old thought he'd get a prize if we finished it, so he gave it a go. (not sure where he got that idea from) While we did not pay for any of the character events, we did do the private slime (great photos from this), and we did a family massage, which was an excellent call. We all enjoyed that quite a bit. The hotel was clean, the employees were very kind and eager to help us work on our Spanish (particularly the kids), and we enjoyed the swim up bar and drinks. The only negative things I have to say, are: 1) that the push for you to sign up for a prestige membership is way too much. We don't travel that much, and the 1 hour chat quickly turned into about 2 hours of hard selling. We did not buy, and we did get compensated for our time in Prestige bucks which took money off our stay, and 2) At no fault to the hotel, it's a bit of a bummer than the seaweed makes it impossible to swim this time of year in this spot. The red flags on the beach made it so we weren't even allowed to put our toes in the water. I get that, and it's at no fault of the hotel. Overall, we had a great trip, and what really mattered is the kids really enjoyed their time at Nickelodeon!
