Could be better.
Very nice location and beautiful views. Not much to do at the resort and needs a lot of updates. Very affordable.

Take a tent and spend your time sleeping on the beach, it would be cheaper and less stressful.
Imagine there are 7 of you on a 10 day vacation and each you pay an additional $300.00 per person per night for a Premium Suite that are supposed to be NEAR one another and upon checking in you are told they overbooked and they do not have any premium suites available. Now imagine of the 4 "Motel 6" style rooms they assign you 2 of the balcony doors will not open, the A/C's will not cool the room below 80 degrees Fahrenheit, three of the 4 rooms have toilet seats that ARE NOT ATTACHED to the toilet (try to sit on a toilet seat that is not attached and I bet you will find yourself on the floor) and the rooms are BUILDINGS apart. Now imagine 1 out of every 15 to 20 employees of this "Resort" speaks english and of those 1 in 15 to 20 employees (the few who have the authority) NEVER SEEM TO BE AVAILABLE. Now, imagine spending the first 3 days of a 10 day vacation searching for someone who can help with these problems! We spent the first 3 days calling the manager of the resort, the manager of the room service, and the manager of customer service, 3 days of walking from offices to offices of these people 3,4,5,6 times a day trying to connect with someone only to be told these people were not available. We finally got an email address to one of these people but the response to the email was always "We are working on this situation" but never more than that. Finally after a day and a half of frustration by the lack of any meaningful response I emailed the resort and copied the Customer Service Vice President of Barcelo and the CEO of Barcelo into the email detailing the problems, can you guess what happened? Nothing, zilch, crickets chirping. The Customer Vice President or the CEO didn't have the common courtesy to respond to what is clearly a lack of management inefficiencies at this Resort, I can only guess they said amongst themselves "You have paid us for the top tier level and we didn't provide you with what you paid for but we don't care because we already have your money". Now imagine after a day and a half of fighting to secure the suites we had paid for, we meet 3 couples who had just checked in and notice the wristband that signifies you as a Premium Level member and we asked them about their experiences with getting the Premium Suites, 1 couple told us they were told there wasn't a Premium suite available for them so the Resort put them in the Presidential Suite, the other 2 couples told us they were immediately given their suites without any problems. Finally after 3 days they gave us our suites and promised to reimburse us for days we spent in the "Motel 6" style rooms...After 2 months they finally made a refund.....OF $44.00 per person. Not per person per night but a grand total of $44.00 Total!!!! So there are points for you to consider if you are looking at vacationing at this Resort, 1. Do not expect to get what you paid for, 2. Do not expect to receive a REFUND ($44.00 is a slap in the face considering the extra $300.00 per night we paid), 3. This Resort caters to those who speak Latin American exclusively so if you don't speak Latin American you would be wise to pick another Resort. As for the food at this Resort?? I can spell that out in 1 word, Sub-Par. As for the waitresses around the pool...Excellent service (Maybe the service these waitresses give should be Barcelo's Standard). Entertainment....Loud music well into the late hours performed on an open balcony overlooking the pool that shakes the patio doors. The other entertainment? An onsite casino that makes you pay for your drinks. Liquor....As a PREMIUM guest you are supposed to get top shelf liquor, unfortunately they do not stock top shelf but they do have outside vendors roaming the property who will sell you top shelf liquor at 5 times the price.

Do not go
DO NOT GO ! The rooms are dirty, full of cockroaches and barely clean. The food was bland n repetitive. The bar staff was not friendly and seemed to be bothered to be there. Do not trust the reviews as the entertainment team goes around asking people to write a good Review. Plus I had numerous bed bug bites Pictures speak louder thank words so I will post pictures

Yolanda at Spa at Occidental Cribe
I stayed at Occidental Cribe, beautiful resort in Punta Cana. The best experience was when had a massage by Yolanda. She did amazing. The best massage I have had! She really took her time and listened to my concerns. I highly recommend Yolanda at Occidental Cribe Dominican Republic.

Nice property, but service and room maintenance need improvement
We enjoyed the well-kept outdoor areas at Occidental Caribe — clean pool, lovely gardens, and a safe, lively atmosphere with plenty of daytime and nighttime activities. The variety of drinks across the bars was also a plus. However, our experience was affected by unresolved issues in our room (AC and TV problems reported from day one with no follow-up). The gym and sports bar need maintenance, and the food could be improved in both taste and healthy options. Room conditions also need attention to match the quality of the common areas. Overall, a hotel with great potential, but it needs improvements in customer service, food quality, and room maintenance.

The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced:
*Motorized watersports may be banned
*Non-motorized water sports may be limited, or banned
*Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silencedThese guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next. Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter. These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.
