Pleasant, if somewhat isolated resort
We spent two weeks at this resort. Overall experience was positive. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially April in reception. The location is somewhat isolated, not really anywhere to walk, outside the resort. Without a car, you can take a shuttle, taxi or uber. I enjoyed the aqua gym and kayak tour. The beach was pleasant with enough lounge chairs. The food was fairly good, enjoyed the fresh watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple. The specialty restaurants were a nice change from the buffet, which got kind of repetitious after awhile. good variety of drinks. I would suggest more directional signs and a paper map, as how to find buildings was confusing at first, especially in the dark, lighting on paths could be better.

Beautiful resort, highly recommend. We had an incredible vacation here, very laid back but something to do for anyone.

Ok for the price, but not close to four-star due to resort being “tired” and mediocre food.
I will start with what is great about the resort, and that is the service. Every staff member we interacted with was exceptionally nice and helpful. They seemed to genuinely care that our needs were being met. Thelor and Steffany at the pool bar were fantastic, and relaxing by the pool was nice. We had incredible massages by Lorena and Dana- truly one of the best massages I’ve had. The view from the top floor near reception, and the view from our room in Building One, were beautiful. Everything went smoothly at check-in. Now for the not great parts- The resort rooms, pools, and restaurants are very dated and in need of a good cleaning, fresh paint, renewed linens, and maintenance. This is not even close to a four-star resort. There are seventy-three stairs from the main pool to the area with two restaurants, a bar, and the disco. This hotel is not accessible, and not recommended for those with mobility issues. This was not a concern for us, but I felt for the older people I saw trying to manage stairs with canes! Restaurant reservations are strange. There are three restaurants plus the buffet. The restaurants require reservations, and you cannot make them in advance of your stay. They are open for dinner only. Breakfast and lunch are buffet only. You can reserve a restaurant every third day of your stay, regardless of whether or not tables are visibly available. We got lucky because a fellow guest heard me asking about reservations at check-in in and she gave us her reservation for that night because her plans had changed. On night two I was able to make a late reservation at the grill. On night three I was able to make a reservation at dinner time. We were only there for three nights, so this worked out well for us. Had we stayed longer, we would have been at the buffet, which does not work for me. I attempted to clarify this in advance of our trip, and I should have known from the lack of response about reservations, despite asking multiple times, that reservations were going to be an issue. The food at the restaurants and buffet was mediocre. I would prefer authentic, local cuisine at the buffet, and then restaurants with other options. The Italian restaurant had the best food, however, like others mentioned, the steak was extremely fatty and tough. Overall, the food was not good, and for that reason, I would not visit again. For the cost, I could get past the hotel needing updating, but it’s hard to get past mediocre food. Again, the staff was fantastic, and service was excellent. It’s a good value hotel, but if you’re expecting a 4-star property, this is not one.

Not a wow.
Resort is in need of some TLC. Pool was not working properly and closed on our last day. Guest were taking skimmer and trying to clean the leaves etc out of pool. Housekeeping was hit or miss seemed to show up at 5 when we were getting ready for dinner or relaxing after a day in the sun. Buffet restaurant was very small and very limited selection. Food was repeated over and over. You would have to wait for table. No bacon at breakfast. Grill restaurant was not bad, but steak had a lot of fat was very chewy hard to cut with knife they provided. Gym was nice with updated equipment. Seemed to be a lack of attention to detail resort was tidy but not clean like other resorts we have visited. Weather was amazing. Will definitely go back to Costa Rica but not this resort.
