  I wish I could give zero stars

  This was the worst place I have ever stayed at. No water on the first day. Lobby bathroom looked like the poop cruise. Couldn’t get into our rooms until well after 6pm. Food was atrocious. If you’re from North America, do not expect quality. Nothing was in English at the buffet, so it was all a guessing game as to the ingredients and it looked like garbage. The curtains in the room and the shower were full of black mould. The housekeeper broke my son’s phone charger on the second day. The hair dryer caught on fire and was sparking and it took 45 mins for someone to come and it wasn’t urgent to them. They shut the power off and cut the cord cause it’s hardwired into the wall. Came and left without a word. My daughter was sick for 2 days and we finally had to call a dr. He sent us to the hospital, which cost us almost 5000$ and we sent her back to Canada on the next flight where she was diagnosed with salmonella poisoning and ecoli along with another friend of ours. No one cared when we told them. The very few people that could speak English, suddenly forgot how to. My daughter had to check out 3 days early to fly home bc of food poisoning from the hotel, and instead of refunding her even a portion of her money, they did nothing and then put someone else into her room that was still paid for by us for 3 more days. They definitely were double dipping on that one. The specialty dining was terrible. I didn’t think anyone could mess up Italian but they sure did it like champs. We spent of most of our time eating pizza in their little food court. The drinks were horrible. They use their own brand of alcohol, which is gross, and they are very heavy handed making it not enjoyable. And literally 5 people there speak English and even that’s not very good, but they all want to be tipped. We travelled with 10 people. Our kids and our friends to celebrate our honeymoon. We have never been to the DR before and will definitely never be back. I’m sure you have a beautiful country, but this place ruined it for sure. We will never stay at another Occidental or Barcelo ever in our lives. Zero stars. Would not recommend.

  Wonderful vacation with friends!

  Wonderful service at buffet from Frennia Famiglia & Elsa Yaques! Ketty Feliz gives great service at the Beach Buffet. All restaurants were great!

  Very strong 4 ! Fantastic week . Very efficient check in and out

  I give it a very strong 4!very nicely kept resort , big , functional and comfortable rooms , good food , good a la carte restaurants, good entertainment, enjoyed night entertainment especially where it was very popular with guests , allways full house , very nice beach but loungers are getting old , very nice pool, but lacking shades, beach and pool drinks were ok . Fantastic lobby bar with great atmosphere and good drinks . A fantastic resort for quality -ratio . Thank all the staff that catherd on us , all were fantastic. Thank you for a great week! A mention to Transat Holidays for their allways hasel free transportation and accommodation!

  Not Impressed

  The outdoor grounds, beach, and pool are absolutely gorgeous, but unfortunately the rooms did not meet expectations. Our shower had mildew, the furniture was very outdated, and the pillows were extremely flat. The sheets and towels also did not appear as fresh or white as they should have been. Pool chairs were an ongoing issue, as many were taken to the beach each day, and the few remaining ones were often “reserved” with personal items even when no one was present. There was no beach drink service, so we had to walk back to the buffet whenever we wanted a beverage. My husband noted that this trip was for my birthday when booking, but there was no acknowledgment or effort to help us celebrate. At other resorts, we’ve experienced thoughtful touches (for anniversaries and birthdays) such as champagne, fruit baskets, or special desserts, so this was disappointing. The lobby did have a great ambiance, we especially enjoyed the live music and watching the football game. We stayed for one show which was nice. While we did enjoy the rest and relaxation, we would not choose to return unless it were complimentary.

  Lobby Bartenders are 10/10

  Robinson Alejandro and Alberto are the best bartenders. Make the best drinks on the resort! Very attentive and great chats! 10/10 would recommend.
