I stayed at the Occidental Punta Cana in August of 2025. We (my boyfriend and I) planned the trip with his parents. This was our first trip out of the country so our expectations weren't very set in stone. First off, we booked through Orbitz and while it went well, I would highly recommend shopping around. There were much cheaper prices on Expedia and Cheap Caribbean! The resort: Immediately upon arriving we were greeted by welcoming staff who made us feel comfortable and checked us in easily. We were encouraged to come back to the lobby if we needed anything at all. The rooms were spacious and had a balcony/outdoor area. On the first day, we had a few issues with the AC in our room. Not a big deal, we went to the front desk and they happily upgraded us for the inconvenience and sent a tech to our room to fix it. With the upgrade, we had access to private beach bars, a private pool, and the small restaurant that served breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were many restaurants on resort and we tried almost all of them (excluding the seafood). There is a pizza plate open strictly at night which we admittedly enjoyed many times. The staff was always around and very helpful throughout our time here. We decided while there that we wanted to partake in an excursion but weren't sure what to do. In the lobby, we met with staff who explained all of our options and helped us book the snorkeling (highly recommend) and a shuttle to get us there! A large concern with booking out of country (for us) was feeling unsafe. The resort had security that was consistently on the beach and keeping people who were not vacationing moved along. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our time spent here and would highly recommend it to others! It certainly wasn't the fanciest resort but it was well worth it for the price.

Great resort for birthday trips
Came on a trip for my birthday. Staff is super welcoming and room was cleaned daily. If you’re looking for good bartenders find Starlin and Enrique, they were great all trip.
