Ocean Blue and Sand- Average travel experience. Family Trip.
We went to Ocean Blue and Sand on Sept 19-26th. The check in was fairly smooth with a quick process and a welcome drink, which was nice. The staff at the front desk that checked us in was not too friendly. Requested a pool view room and she said $700 additional and then dropped it to $400. We declined this and were assigned a garden/tropical view room. We went to our room and the view was terrible. It was in the back of the building with a service road and a fence. So be aware that tropical/garden view room is a service road/fence view not what is advertised. Very disappointed and went immediately back to front desk to complain and was moved to new room with partial pool view (6219), which was appreciated. Our other family members were left with the same terrible view for a week with the service road/fence view. The new room was spacious, clean and very nice overall. A few issues... The sliding door lock to the balcony was broken the entire week even after requests to repair. This is a safety issue as someone could of entered easily from the balcony as it did not lock at all. Also, brought this to our Air Canada rep and he got in touch with guest services to fix it, but still not repaired. The glass in the sliding door frame was coming off the frame as well. Cockroaches- A family member texted us in the middle of the night that they woke up to a large cockroach on their leg, which was very disturbing. We also found 1 cockroach on the towel in our room in the bathroom shower stall. We put it outside and didn't see anymore thereafter. Food was very good with lots of variety. The a la carte food was good though we only went to two restaurants as we preferred the buffet. My dinner order at Margarita was incorrect, but I did not complain and accepted the meal they provided. Mike's was the best of all the restaurants. Just a nice warm and welcoming experience in the coffee shop. The peacock and Flamingo are very social and are a bit pushy for sugar donuts from Mike's if you sit outside. They come right up to the table for your snacks, but they are cute. Pool was great and very warm, ocean was lots of fun and the beach was good. You can see the erosion, but can see how much effort they have gone to to repair it and prevent further erosion. Grounds were okay and trolley is available for a ride if the walk is too much, which is nice. The service in the buffet was hit or miss, sometimes the servers were attentive and brought drinks. We tipped every meal and some servers were friendly. The entertainment was okay as well. The entertainers looked very exhausted. You can tell they worked hard to train, but also some of them looked off key, maybe ready to fall down and at times not on beat with other performers. This is not their fault, I think they appear overworked and tired. It was a nice week, but just didn't feel it was a welcoming environment from the staff so will not visit again. Overall I would say it was 3 stars.

Couple Get away
The property and rooms were clean most importantly. The ocean views were beautiful. The amenities and food could have been much better. We were unable to make reservations to the fine dining restaurants, though we did as instructed. The concierge who were selling time shares, were very pushy. Some throughout the resort acted as if they did not want the to go above and beyond for the guest experience. Fortunately the employees who were in the lobby, espescially Luis Duran who greeted and transported us and our luggage was great. He was very informative, kind, and helped us with all of our excursions, and throughout our whole stay.

Great hotel
Ramon the bartender at the pool is the best! Great hotel. The hotel is very well designed. Everything is at a 5min walk max. The buffet is really good. The japanese and the steak house restaurant are a lil bit desappointed but still pretty sure you can find something good at the steak house.
