Good food, good service.
This evening we dined at La Locanda, the Italian resto at Ocean Coral Spring, Jamaica. We were served by Stacy-Ann who was an exceptional server. Our appetizers were very tasty, and our main courses ( ravioli and lasagna) were also very well presented and delicious. When initially served the mains required reheating. Stacy-Ann brought them back fully heated. Once again, they were delicious. Our merlot wine was the perfect complement to our meal. We finished with tiramisu and cheesecake, both excellent.

Too many issues…very disappointing response.
We arrived at 10:30 at night… No welcome cocktail. Bellman asked if I was travelling alone. I have to say that I was very happy with my swim up suite. And decided, that first day, that it was the perfect room for a solo traveler. But then, Day#1, I had a problem with my in-room safe. I called the front desk to let them know that my room safe was not working and they sent someone out. It took a couple hours for them to show up… maintenance condescendingly showed me how to set a code. I told him that I was a seasoned traveller and had experience setting safe codes ( I’m a travel agent). After several attempts, he grudgingly admitted that my safe was not working. He replaced batteries. He took off the inner workings and tried to work on them none of which worked. One hour later he decided that I needed it replaced, and one hour later the replacement was complete ( 4.5 hrs total). He asked me if I was travelling alone. Two other maintenance men showed up to watch him, each giving their input. I did not feel comfortable leaving the room or leaving them alone with my belongings not properly locked away. A second maintenance worker asked me if I was travelling alone. Day#2… my power went out in the night during a heavy rain storm. Approximately 4 AM. At 7 AM I called down to the front desk to let them know that my power was out and they said that I was the first person who had notified them. I asked if they thought it was the whole building and they said they weren’t sure. I asked them to send someone down to have a look. Three hours later at 10 AM I called back to the front desk and asked if they had determined if it was a problem with the whole building. They sounded bewildered and said that it must just be my room. I asked, again, if they could send someone down to have a look. They did not. At 3 PM I called the front desk again, at chambermaid’s suggestion, and asked if someone was going to be checking on my air conditioning soon as I would want to shower for dinner and I was concerned about doing that in the dark. No one came. I did end up showering in the dark and was unable to blow dry my hair. It was not until after 7:30 PM that my electricity was back on. Day#3… in the morning I realize that though my electricity was working, I had no air-conditioning. So once again, I called the front desk to let them know that my power was back on, but I was only able to use the ceiling fan to cool down my room. They said that they would send someone out. No one ever came… for the remainder of my week. So I did not have air conditioning from Day#1 onward. In the evening the temperature was 25°C outside and my room was reading 26.5°C. Needless to say this was not acceptable. That night after going to bed, at 10 PM, I had someone from maintenance knock on my door. I was woken out of dead sleep, and did not open the door, asking them to come back at another time because it was too late. As you can imagine, after being asked on many occasions if I was travelling solo, I was very nervous, and would not open my door at that time of night. I barricaded my door because I was afraid that if I went to sleep, someone would try to enter… I did not fall back to sleep for several hours afterwards. The reason that he knocked on my door was not concerning my air conditioning, but it was because my outside balcony light was not working . This issue had never been reported by me… But all that I can guess is that due to my power going out on Day#2 it affected both my air conditioning and the outdoor patio light. As a single woman, travelling to Jamaica, I felt very unsafe. I put a security bar in my sliding door track and I barricaded my door for any unwanted entries. I would definitely not recommend this resort to solo female travelers. I would like to commend my chambermaid Dorothy ( building #2) for her empathy and taking my situation seriously and to her supervisor. They both advised me to go to the front desk and complain. When I did tell front desk staff, the response was a smirk, and being asked if I wanted to make a “formal complaint”, in a very ‘snotty’ voice and if so that I need to go to guest services. Very unhelpful. I enjoyed the restaurants. Bartenders at pool were great. Shout out to Nicholas and Kardan. All in all, I would recommend the swimup suite. The Thali (Indian) and Sakura ( Japanese) a la cartes restaurants. I will NOT recommend this resort to my solo traveller clients.

Solid 4 star
Travelled on a multi-generational trip in December 2024, ages ranging 9-71. We had conceirge rooms on the Coral Side. Overall, we thought this was a solid 4 Star resort but certainly not the 5-Star it claims to be. Rooms: They look nice and the beds are comfortable but they aren’t very clean. They are surface clean but I am not sure the rooms have ever had a deep clean. We had 3 rooms between us and there was something broken or missing in every room. Nothing that ruined the trip but inconvenient. Food: This is the worst buffet I’ve been to in Jamaica. We’ve travelled to Jamaica many times and I have never seen a buffet so small and so empty. And smelly. Avoid the buffet wherever possible. Service is also terrible. The a la carte restaurants are pretty good. We really liked the Italian and the American and the service at all of the a la cartes was significantly better. The Privilege restaurant was by far the best with the best service. We are there as much as possible. We were traveling with a gluten allergy it was difficult to be fed. Butlers kept telling us which restaurants should have gluten free but the restaurant would say they didn’t. Eventually the butlers intervened so that the person with the allergy could be fed. Amenities: This place has all the amenities for families with children. I was really impressed with the condition of the kids water park and the lazy river. There is a family lounge, bowling, basketball nets. No place for kids to get bored. Beach: We didn’t really use it. It’s pretty crowded and small. The pool was great for us. Service: I couldn’t believe I was in Jamaica. This hotel must treat their staff poorly because everyone was miserable. We were certainly an inconvenience to most of them and tipping didn’t make a difference in the service. Privilege staff was the exception. Would I return? Absolutely not- so many other hotels in Jamaica offer better food and service. However, if you don’t have high food standards and you have a young family, go here if you can get a great deal

Overall a great experience
My husband and I planned a destination wedding here with a small group of close family and friends on the Eden Bay side. We had a beach ceremony and while there were a couple mishaps, everything mostly went well, and even the people on the beach got to see and hear which to my surprise didn’t feel like it ruined the intimate moment. We extended our stay after friends and family left to start our honeymoon. The resort is well kept, rooms are nice and big and comfortable. Housekeeping was great at coming each day. I do recommend the privilege services for an extra fee as it comes with an upgraded liquor package, room service, and butler service. Our personal butler was amazing! Romaine was so attentive and checked in with us each day to see if we needed anything. It was very convenient to have as it was another way to get information or get a ride somewhere we needed, such as a dinner reservation. Katia, our food and beverage concierge was an absolute angel to us. She handled our 13 people group reservation to ensure we got to try the restaurants as some require this ahead of time. For our honeymoon, she made recommendations and made sure we got in to all other restaurants because we wanted to try everything! She went above and beyond to make sure we got into a place that didn’t have our room number written down, she also handled a situation with our wedding reception reservation. She checks in with you daily, responds right away, works around your excursion times, and sends you reminders for your dinner time the day of. She truly made our experience memorable. We will be back just to visit the staff and people that we met! We thank Ocean Eden Bay for an unforgettable experience.

Great guest service
The resort was lovely and the food was great. Unfortunately if you are looking to go to the beach this one wasn't good. Very small and rocky. The pool was amazing, one of the largest ones I've ever seen. We encountered that it was difficult to get into the normal restaurants even the buffet on the first day. They are understaffed and put you on a waiting list but give priority to the priority club so really the waitlist means nothing. We went to express our concerns the next day to our Sunwing rep who then sent it to the guest manager Shanardo Weston. He msg me right away and planned our entire week to make sure we had reservations. That was a game changer and definitely made our family vacation a memorable one. Big thank you. Would definitely consider going back.
