  Fun bday getaway

Stayed for 5 days in Privilege. Check in was easy. Transportation was easy. It is a nice resort, clean, and fairly calm. After 8p.m. it gets pretty quiet. Atmosphere was good for relaxing. Rooms were spacious and clean. It is humid but the AC keeps up pretty good! Shower has great pressure. I felt it was a good value for the price. Maybe more of a 4+ star than a 5. The staff really made the stay great. Lisandro was our butler and they were absolutely fabulous 👌 5 🌟 I would come back again just for how amazing everyone was. There are some shops, decent variety of food options, drinks were decent, the beach was smaller but nice. The Privilege area of the beach was nice and quiet and clean. The pools could use a little TLC but were still great. We went for our daughter's 12th birthday and it was great. Sad to leave!

Wonderful staff, but the resort did not live up to its five-star marketing

I was disappointed with our stay at Ocean Riviera Paradise. The resort was fine to good overall, and the staff was wonderful, but it did not feel like the five-star luxury experience we expected from the photos and advertising. The biggest disappointment was the beach. There was almost no usable shoreline in front of the resort during our stay. To get into the water comfortably, we had to walk down the shore toward another resort. If your idea of a beach vacation includes sitting on the sand and easily swimming in the ocean, this may not be the right place. The kids’ water park also looked less bright and new than it did in the pictures. The Sailfish beach restaurant and bar were closed for construction, which we did not know when we booked. Had I known, I would have chosen different dates or a different resort. A temporary restaurant and bar were available, but the setup was just okay, and the bar cart could not make frozen drinks. The Privilege beach area had also been moved to a cramped spot where the chairs and palapas were very close together. We stayed in a Privilege Master Suite Oceanfront, and my parents were kindly upgraded to a Privilege Master Suite Private Pool Ocean View. Both rooms were spacious, with plenty of closet space, a full bathroom, and a half bathroom. The beds and furniture were comfortable, and housekeeping did a good job with the floors and surfaces. The bathrooms needed more attention, though. Some of the grout and sealant looked uneven and discolored, and I noticed mold or mildew in parts of the tile and shower. We also could not get a bottle of liquor for the room, as we have at other resorts, and the kind we wanted was not available to buy on property. The pools were a highlight. There are several, and they looked clean and well maintained. The bartenders and servers around the pools worked hard and were consistently kind. If you prefer spending your vacation by the pool, you may enjoy this resort much more than we did. The food was mixed. Compared with other all-inclusive resorts we have visited, it was my least favorite overall, though we had some very good meals. Sakura was excellent, and Margarita was so good that we went back. We enjoyed the osso buco and most of the pasta at La Locanda. The Privilege Lounge was our favorite breakfast spot; the team even made pancakes for my four-year-old when he asked. Mike’s Coffee was great, especially the afternoon muffins, and the crepes at Ocean Burger were excellent. We were less impressed with Blue Moon, apart from the short ribs, and the included steak at the Steak House was disappointing; the steak available for an extra charge was much better. The margaritas were delicious, though the drinks generally seemed lightly poured. What made the stay better was the people. Everyone we encountered was kind, attentive, and hardworking. Our butler, Pool, went above and beyond for us. Jennifer at check-in was thorough and welcoming, and the upgrade she arranged for my parents was wonderful. We spent a lot of time enjoying their private pool. This resort has the potential to be a five-star experience, but it needs closer attention to maintenance and detail, along with photos and descriptions that accurately reflect what guests can expect, especially the beach and any restaurant closures.

  Not accessible enough

Overall good resort, a little to big for our liking as staff not as personal and hard to see and know where entertainment team would be thru out the day. Room was set up great for someone in wheelchair with accessible restrictions. Always something going on and loved the outside nightly entertainment area. Cons of why we would not be back, pools where lacking servers and could never get a drink unless I was in pool due to every bar other than lobby having a step. Also could not enter any stores or ice cream shop. All that could be fixed with a simple ramp like they have at coffee shop.
