Paradisus Playa del Carmen - 10 days/ 9 nights. We are members of Club Melia

My wife and I went to Paradisus Playa del Carmen for 10 days (11/18 - 11/27). We are both in our mid 50s with no kids. We have been Melia club members since 2011. This was our 4th time to this resort. The weather was in the 80s most of the trip. One day had some rain. We had upgraded to a swim up master suite from a regular master suite upon our arrival. We didn’t realize the upgrade was to the family side until our second day (as that was our first full day, we didn’t get there until 5 pm the first day). So on day 3, we were moved to the adults only swim up suite side. The upgrade is about $200 per day (total, not per person) and gives you access to the swim up, a couple of extra restaurants, an upgrade in alcohol and it is closer to the beach. Miriam Ortiz was our concierge. I’m not exaggerating when I say she is the best concierge we’ve had in the 25 or so trips we’ve taken in the 13 years we’ve had the vacation club. She messaged us every morning to give us the activities of the day and to see if we needed anything. She made our dinner reservations (and changed them a few times at our request). She was able to switch our suite from the family side to the adults only side on the reserve side. She answered any questions we may have had. There are 9 restaurants at the resort. La cappella is the Italian one and was our favorite. Nelson was our waiter twice and he was excellent. We even requested him the second time. The food was very good as well. He treated this as a fine dining experience. Even with things like the house wine Cielo is the Mexican restaurant. Christian was our waiter and he was good. We had Teppanyaki at Tokimeku. The Hibachi chef was Hugo and he was entertaining. The food was very good. Shrimp, chicken and steak. Adolfo was the waiter and he was meh. We felt rushed. And there wasn’t another seating after our seating, so no reason to push people out Naos is the Buffet. It has breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went once for breakfast and once for dinner. Tried going for lunch was but there was a half hour wait, so we didn’t bother. Lemon fish, Flora we didn’t go to for dinner. We did go to flora for breakfast once. We had room service one night for dinner. There are a lot of choices for a room service level Blue Agave was a Mexican restaurant. We had a Mexican Buffett dinner one night (that’s the only night they have dinner). Adriana was our server and she was very good. They had Mexican entertainment that night. They are open for lunch every day and we went there once. Tried to going a second time and there was over an hour wait. Which is crazy. Sante was for breakfast and lunch. Went there a few times for breakfast and once for lunch. This is a la carte not a buffet. Wendy was the best of the servers. We also ate at the two pool lunch places once each. Celsius and farenheit. Tacos/ burgers type food The beach = we went there five times. Iris was the best server. The concierges were Arny and Jonas. Both reserved Bali beds for us in advance. We didn’t go to any of the main pools because we had our swim up suite. This was the best service we’ve ever had at any swim up suite as far as drinks. Isabel, Reyna, Oscar, Cristian were the servers. We used the swim up suite every day but one day Hadar is the adults only buffet equivalent of Naos. We went once for lunch and twice for breakfast. Same food as Naos. Nelvia was a good server. She even got my wife maple syrup for her pancakes when my wife couldn’t find any available There are several bars. We didn’t go to Toji or M bar Kicks = club. We went there three times. Jesus was one of the bartenders and he was great. The first time we went it was very packed. Yet the next day he remembered my name. That impressed me. Giovanni was another bartender and he was good as well Gustavo and Edson were the DJs at kicks. They played a good mix of music. North bar = we went once. Domingo was the bartender. He was good South bar = we went once. Magro was the bartender. He wasn’t as good. It closed at 11. He didn’t let me get a drink at 5 to 11. Turned down others as well. Yet I saw him serve two couples from a wedding 20 minutes after closing. Flor was the housekeeper. She was very good. The soaking tub on our balcony had an issue. She’s the one who noticed while cleaning and had called maintenance. She even came back and did extra cleaning after it was fixed One thing I will add. Please tip your servers, your bartenders. Your concierge. The carving station people, the omelette makers. They work very hard. Overall we had a great time on this vacation

Great spot with excellent scuba excursion.

Lovely, relaxing spot with a great scuba teacher. Highly recommend for families and adults. Very experienced scuba instructor took me on my first dive in reef near resort. Highly recommend Ogusto and his scuba excursion. The resort facilities are amazing around the pool and on the beach. Lovely calm water for swimming. Crystal clear. Food and entertainment very nice. Excellent service. We will be back.

    Fun and relaxing experience vacation

We visited Paradius Playa del Carmen as a Circle member and we had the best time and experience ever. Our concierge, Miriam Ortiz, she was phenomenon. She went up and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. She kept us updated with new activities everyday, ensure to rsvp our dinner, and provided a great response to our requests from our needs in the room to transportation. I even recommended my in-laws about her as they are a member as well. They'll be reaching out to Miriam on their next visit to Paradius. Miriam visited us time to time to make sure we were doing ok and yes we were ^_^; having a time of our lives. She also surprised us with events in our room every other day and we loved it, especially my daughter. It's nice to know we are remembered with happy surprises when we come into our room so thank you, Miriam. There's really no words to describe how amazing she was so thank you so much, Miriam. Also I want to send amazing shout out to servers who always took care of us. Salvador at the pool, thank you for always coming to us with a big smile and even brining us Cappuccino along with other drinks. At one point, he brought us expresso martini too, which i didn't know about it and we loved it!! Also huge shout out to servers at the Lunchbox, especially Selina and Amaya. Selina knew exactly what drinks we wanted on daily basis before we even asked and just brought it to us. It's super nice to know she remembered us and our daily drinks. She always served us with huge smile and we loved every moment of our breakfast. Amaya served us lunch and he was super nice and attentive to our needs, especially to my daughter, who is a picky eater. Thank you Amaya for putting a smile on my daughter's face. Oh and our favorite dinner was at Cappella and huge shout out to Carlos who took care of us as well. It was our first night we visited the restaurant and Carlos made it easy to order. He gave his recommendations on drinks and food, which was perfect. When we came back again, he remembered us and placed 2 plates of mussel orders for my Daughter lol. He remembered how much she loved mussels. I know servers take care of many guests so it's definitely amazing when we are remembered for second time so thank you Carlos. I would totally recommend this family resort and we are already planning to go back soon. Thank you again for an amazing experience as this has been one of the best vacation thus far.
