Unreasonable Hospitality!! Book the trip!
Unreasonable Hospitality…is your team required to read the book or watch the Ted Talk? It felt as if they are because our expectations were exceeded at every corner! Your team members are empowered to go above and beyond and because of that they made the experience very special for our 22 Anniversary. Mauricio and Edwar were the absolute best…no matter the request it was always met with “I’m on it!” Paulino kept the drinks delivered at the AS pool with a smile and a sense of urgency. We received probably the best massages of our lives (and we’ve had quite a few 😀) from Eva and Gabriela. We stayed in the Junior Star Class Swim Up Suite and I highly recommend! We will be back!

Nightclub nightmare!
NIGHT CLUB REVIEW ONLY! PH needs desperately to find a new night club DJ, the one they have is absolutely garbage! He had emptied the entire club by midnight - people were leaving in disgust at his continuous rap and hood music. Refused point blank to take a request “sorry, it’s my music!” Everyone went to bed.

Exceptional Experience ☀️
I haven’t been to a resort like Planet Hollywood in a while. Extremely clean, organized, amazing food. I can’t say enough good things about this place. We stayed at the adult side, but we had access to the family side where you can also find a lot of fun things to do such as the lazy river, also attractions at night on the family side are really good. The day we arrived they had a Mexican Party, which was a lot of fun, we watched a Michael Jackson show that was also fantastic. We got to enjoy a Moon Dinner on the beach for $70er person, it was worth every penny. They had live music, Surf and Turf for main course, a beautiful and romantic atmosphere. David, Milton, Joe and Fernando Bacon are the best entertainers!!! The adult pool always has fun activities and entertainment with these guys. The service by the pool is impeccable. Miguel, Moses and Alejandro are super friendly and attentive. I’m probably forgetting some of their names because we had the pleasure to encounter such gracious workers everywhere. If you’re looking for a resort in Cancun, this is a win win! Thank you Planet Hollywood :)

Best Bachelorette ever!
I went with 5 girlfriends, my fiance, and 5 of his friends for our joint bachelorette/bachelor trip and we…ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! The staff is incredibly friendly and fun. The rooms were perfect. The restaurant options were decent. Making reservations was a little stressful but in the end we were able to have each group have dinner together without issue. The night life was perfect for what we wanted/needed. The resort itself is beautiful, very clean, and picturesque. We stayed on the adult side but used the lazy river often. Highly recommend for group trips that want to have a fun time, especially when on a budget

Star Class Sounds Great on Paper — Our Butlers Saved the Trip
Star Class Sounds Great on Paper — Our Butlers Saved the Trip Overall: 2/5 I want to start by emphasizing that Edwar and Mauricio, our Star Class butlers, were by far the best part of our stay at Planet Hollywood Cancún Adults Only. They genuinely bent over backwards to make sure we had a good experience. I honestly believe that without them, this review would be significantly worse. They constantly stepped in to fix problems, help with reservations, track things down, and make sure we were taken care of. If I were managing another resort, I would seriously try to hire these two. The Good Butler Service — 5/5 Edwar and Mauricio were exceptional. They were attentive, professional, and clearly cared about making our stay enjoyable. When the resort’s systems or policies created problems, they were the ones who found solutions. Pool Service — Great The pool servers were friendly and generally stayed on top of things. Service speed was hit or miss, but the staff themselves were great. Sunset Steakhouse — Best Restaurant Sunset was easily our favorite dining option. We ate there twice. The first server seemed like he absolutely did not want to be there and was visibly irritated, but the second experience was much better. On both visits, however, the steaks were very good, as were the appetizers and sides. Massage & Hydrotherapy — Excellent The massage and hydrotherapy experience was phenomenal. We paid $95 per person for a 50-minute beach massage, which we felt was reasonable for the experience. We also received a complimentary one-hour hydrotherapy session as part of Star Class. East Teppanyaki The show was great and entertaining, although the food was extremely salty. Breakfast Buffet The regular buffet had some very good breakfast options. Unfortunately, lunch and dinner were a different story. Coffee Shop The coffee shop was good, but staffing was a problem. It was common to see one person trying to handle six or more people waiting for food and drinks. Joe — Water Activities Joe, who introduced himself as being from Venezuela, was fantastic. He ran the water activities throughout the day and did an excellent job keeping people involved and entertained. If I were a competing resort reading this review, Joe, Edwar, and Mauricio are three people I would try very hard to recruit. They deserve to be at a resort that has the operation to match their level of service. The Not-So-Good Rooms The rooms were decent and reasonably clean, but they are already starting to feel dated. Some of the doors were sticky and swollen, making them difficult to open and close. We also encountered a dead spider in the bed and a baby frog in our room, which obviously wasn’t ideal. Check-In / Prime Travel Club Our actual check-in was fairly quick. However, almost immediately we were approached about the Prime Travel Club. The woman was nice, but the sales approach felt aggressive, especially after traveling and just wanting to get settled into the resort. Star Class Check-In Area The Star Class check-in buffet and drinks were disappointing. There was no ice and no cups, which doesn’t exactly create a premium first impression. Restaurant Reservations — Major Problem This was one of our biggest frustrations. Trying to get restaurant reservations on the first day was ridiculous. We were essentially unable to book restaurants for almost the entire week. Our butler ultimately had to work around the system and get us into restaurants at his discretion based on whatever times he could make happen. Again, Edwar and Mauricio saved the situation, but guests shouldn’t have to rely on their butler’s ability to work around the reservation system just to experience the restaurants advertised as part of the resort. Star Class Bar The Star Class bar actually ran out of ceviche, steak, and mint — and not for an hour or two. These items were unavailable for an entire day. For a premium Star Class experience, that is difficult to understand. Private Cabanas We were removed from a private cabana twice because the resort couldn’t find us properly in their system. We also couldn’t get the bottle of liquor we wanted even though we were told the resort had it available. These aren’t necessarily huge problems individually, but they become frustrating when you’re paying for an upgraded experience that’s supposed to provide better service and exclusivity. Pool Temperature The pool water was insanely hot. We’re talking closer to hot-tub temperature than what I would consider refreshing pool water. Cancún is already extremely hot, and getting into a pool should be a way to cool down and relax. Instead, the water often felt like another source of heat. Food — Biggest Disappointment I’ve stayed at multiple all-inclusive resorts in Cancún and elsewhere, and unfortunately, the food at Planet Hollywood Adults Only was some of the most subpar resort food I’ve experienced in Cancún. Gusto Italian was okay, but nothing particularly memorable and the portions were very small. East Teppanyaki had an excellent show, but the food was extremely salty. The regular buffet was good for breakfast, but lunch and dinner were disappointing. The taco truck outside Building 11 was actually pretty good when it was open, although the employee working it was rude every time we interacted with him. Grounds & Cleanliness The landscaping was generally maintained, but the overall daily cleanup of the grounds could have been much better. There were cups, trash, and other items left around the property, particularly around the pool area. For a resort trying to sell a premium Star Class experience, the grounds should be kept noticeably cleaner throughout the day. The $500 Resort Credit The advertised $500 resort credit is misleading, in my opinion. Instead of being a straightforward $500 credit, you receive a coupon book loaded with restrictions and conditions. By the time you work through the limitations, it doesn’t feel anything like having $500 in resort credit. I would rather see the resort simply provide a clearly defined $500 credit that guests can actually use without having to navigate a list of restrictions. Bottom Line This resort has some serious operational issues that need to be addressed, particularly restaurant reservations, food quality, Star Class amenities, inventory, and general attention to detail. But I cannot say enough about Edwar and Mauricio. They were the reason this trip ended up being enjoyable. They repeatedly stepped in when the resort’s systems failed us and did everything they could to make things right. The frustrating part is that the staff we interacted with were often excellent, while the systems they were working within were not. Planet Hollywood has the potential to be a very good adults-only resort, but right now the Star Class experience doesn’t consistently match what is being promised. If you’re considering staying here, manage your expectations. And if you happen to get Edwar and Mauricio as your butlers, consider yourself lucky — they will work extremely hard to make your stay as good as they possibly can. For us, the butlers saved the trip.
