Sep 24, 2026Beautiful Resort Dies Not Quite Live Up To Its Promises!
This review covers four specific aspects of our seven-night stay on September 17-24, 2026: I. Accommodations: Avoid booking the 2-Bedroom Director’s Suite as no one tells you before hand that it is often not available in buildings with an elevator and you may get placed in a room on the bottom floor with a horrible view of a “building” rather than a “garden” (see the attached photo) that provides easy access by a steady parade of huge carpenter ants and geckos - we had to have our room sprayed twice. In spite of the widely advertised promise of “preferred locations” the staff at Star Class Check-in offered no alternatives or solutions. I even proposed downgrading to two junior suites with a water view. They declined and inferred a lack of flexibility because we made the pre-paid reservation through Pleasant Holidays. After appealing to Pleasant Holidays for assistance, we were finally relocated after three nights in conditions that were certainly not consistent with our experience at other 5-Star Resorts in the AMEX and Marriott BonVoy Networks. Special thanks to Joaquin at the front desk for his professional support during our relocation to a room with a partial view of the mountains. Ii. Star Class Benefit Star Class is definitely worth the cost. Golf Cart Access to all Buildings, 24 hr Room Service, access to the Star Class Pool & Lounge, and having your own Butler to make dinner reservations and other arrangements are major plusses. The very best part of our stay was our Butler, Gerardo Cascante, he was professional, proactive and accessible via WhatsApp and merits a 5 Star rating and a promotion! III. Restaurants: The quality and variety of food is great - particularly at the Steak House and East/Hibachi Restaurants! After a bad experience in the private room at the Steak House on 9/20/36, the service at the Steak House on 9/22/26 exceeded our expectations. We want to recognize the manager, Karol and waiter Eythel Jose for their exceptional service! They left no stone unturned during an extraordinary dinner service! The other great meals took place at the East Restaurant/Hibachi. Our highly skilled chefs Dillon & Rafael prepared delicious meals while keeping us thoroughly entertained. IV. The $500 Resort Credit This is a complete Sham! Rather than a credit toward our incidental expenses, we were issued a book of coupons with conditions that made them unusable toward our charges at the gift shop, food and beverages ( birthday cakes & champagne we ordered for our dinner in the private room at the steak house), or spa! In conclusion, I trust that the general manager will take this feed back seriously and make the appropriate adjustments so that Planet Hollywood Costa Rica will deliver a Pura Vida experience for all of its guests! Sep 23, 2026Great Resort and Fun Excursions
We had a great 8-day stay at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica. The resort is beautiful, very clean, and the staff was always friendly and willing to help. We also really enjoyed seeing wildlife around the property. One thing we didn’t realize before arriving is that the resort is located on the Papagayo Peninsula, so there aren’t really any towns or places to walk to nearby. The closest areas are about an hour away, so having transportation is something to keep in mind if you want to explore outside the resort. We wanted to see more of Costa Rica, so we searched on Google for a local company and decided to book with Gabriel from Nomadtourscr. We did a beach tour, ATVs, and a boat trip, and everything went great. It was nice having a private company that could organize everything around what we wanted to do. Overall, we had a really good experience at the hotel and also enjoyed getting out and exploring the area. Just keep the location in mind when planning your transportation. Thanks to everyone at Planet Hollywood for a great stay. Pura vida!

10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
First off everything was wonderful from the pick up from the airport to arriving in the lobby to each day bringing more fun!!! I could really go on and on about this wonderful experience but the people the staff was who really made it amazing! Diana, Daniel, Edu, Estban, Kevin so many names so many people where great but these one stood out to us the most!!! When I say wonderful I mean it excellent. Thank you all for such a great experience!

We were disappointed by the amenities and food however the customer service was outstanding, Joel from Tex mex , Carlos and Josue were amazing , Joel was super friendly he was reallly interested to get to know us and what we were celebrating, it was my birthday and he brought a crew to sing happy birthday, it was outstanding, big kudos to planet holliwood customer service ,Nothing else to say ⚡️

Two stars for pool activities and the awesome people running them but it’s downhill from there. Don’t waste your time paying for the VIP service with premium alcohol, special pool, seating areas, premium room location and private concierge. The food in the restaurants was barely edible, the buffet had a lot more edible options but still not great. The hibachi Restaurant was fun but everything was so salty, the Italian Restaurant was such a disappointment. My kids wouldn’t even eat their pasta. The coffee shop was excellent - good coffee, ice cream & treats available all day. The “premium” liquor was so watered down we might as well have been drinking juice. I read reviews before going about the food and thought it couldn’t be that bad but it in fact was. We would not go back & would not recommend. Surely what we spent per night for a two bedroom suite with the VIP service could’ve gotten us a lot further at a resort where we were just paying for food and drinks on our own. Also this is very secluded so there is no going off site unless by car.
