  I’ve stayed at PH CR various times and has always been a very pleasant experience. facility is well maintained, food options are delish, starclass is worth the xtra cash. this youngman, yeraly, stood out (starclass pool), was very attentive and professional. Always looking forawrd to my bext stay at PH

  Great Family Trip to PH Costa Rica - Aug 2026

  6 Night / 7 Day – Star Class / Room 25-205 This was a great vacation for my family. Star Class: We felt it was worth it to pre-buy (do not upgrade at the resort = $$$) – the butler service was a game changer, the ‘private’ star class pool/snack are/bar and ala carte breakfast were great, you get a free 1hr of ‘hydrotherapy’ (for everyone in your party over 16), the best room locations, and a coupon book (that you can use at the Spa, PH Store and excursions). We felt it was ‘extra’ money well spent. Room: Clean, AC worked great, close to Star pool (and only a flight of stairs down to the main pool area), and room delivery arrived within an hour – No bugs or any issues to complain about. Weird lay-out but enough room for a family of 4 - a photo attached of room balcony view. Resort Staff: All super friendly, remembered our names, and fulfilled any requests quickly. We don’t speak Spanish, but that was never an issue. Butler/Agent: Our ‘Agent’ Jose was simply amazing – he was a highlight of our trip. Quick to respond to texts, answered questions and resolved all issues we had (like booking the reservations/excursions/ordering medication from a local pharmacy…). He took care of us and would be a key reason for our return. Food: Ate at all the food locations atleast once = overall a good experience. Buffett: it was ‘ok’. Tried it once for breakfast, lunch, and supper – the crepe station was nice, the egg stations were quick, and there was generally enough selection to get what you needed to not be hungry, but not enough selection to ‘wow’. Start Class Breakfast (Ala carte at Blue-Star Restaurant): It was great – not a huge selection on the menu but you can customize your order to anything you want (more or less of items of even things not listed on the menu), fast service and tasted great. Ate here every morning except once. All the family gave a strong ‘thumbs-up’ to the food and staff. Supper: All restaurants had good food with quick, friendly service. Our favorites / highest to lowest: Teppanyaki, Italian, Steakhouse, Tex-Mex, and Sushi). Note: some restaurants had huge portions and others on the smaller side, but generally enough not to leave you hungry. Room service: It was good. Took about an hour to arrive and tasted fine. Not a wide selection but did its job as a snack to cover you between meals or as a late-night bite. Beach: The black sand was HOT, so make sure to wear swim shoes/sandals. Wasn’t crazy about the swim area being ‘fenced’ with buoys and netting, but with all the other water activities going on, it’s understandable to create a ‘safe’ area where you don’t have to look out for kayaks or jet skis. Best part of the beach (for my family) was the dozen+ friendly monkeys wanting to visit and get some free fruit from the tourists. Main Pool: Lots of daily activities – shout-out to Terry! Daily pool volleyball (and other games), and Terry would take people who wanted to continue the fun down to the beach for more volleyball or soccer. Lots of chairs are always available. Star Pool: More laidback and relaxing. The waiter would come by often to take orders or offer surprise food/drinks. Lots of chairs are always available. Cabana: We arrived at 8am but couldn’t get our room until 3pm, so we rented a ‘bubble’ cabana as a base for us and all over carry-on from the trip. It was US$149 and well worth it. An enclosed, semi-secure area with couches, a fridge, tv and private pool (that can hold about 8) with lounge chairs. Our cabana waiter Josue was great, always checking in on us to make sure we were good, and if we needed more drinks, food, or bubbles turned on at our pool - photo attached. CONS: There weren’t many cons to this resort for us. The biggest was the steepness of the hill between the main building (top) and the main pool (bottom) – but there are phones at each building, and by pressing 0 and saying where you are, a shuttle would be there quickly to pick you up. Another small issue is that the location is remotely located, so it takes 30-45 minutes to get to any excursion. TLDR: Great for families, pre-pay for Star Class

  A Wonderful Family Vacation in Costa Rica – Great for Families with Kids

  We were a family of four traveling with our two kids, ages 6 and 10, and we wanted to experience more of Costa Rica instead of spending the whole trip at the resort. We stayed at several hotels around the Papagayo Peninsula, including Planet Hollywood, and each one gave us a different experience. Planet Hollywood was a great choice for our family. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the staff were always friendly and helpful, but we were still able to try all of them. The buffet also had a lot of variety, which was helpful with kids. One of the best decisions we made was booking our tours with Nomad Tours Costa Rica. Gabriel was very helpful from the beginning, The excursions were private, which made a big difference for us. We could go at our own pace, and the tours felt much more relaxed than being part of a large group. The prices were also very reasonable for private tours. We especially enjoyed the rainforest tour with Ronald. He was great with our children, very patient. Another favorite was Buena Vista Adventure. The kids had a great time ziplining and going down the waterslide, while we also enjoyed the hot springs. If you are traveling to Costa Rica with kids and staying around Papagayo, we definitely recommend getting out of the hotel and exploring the area. Overall, it was a wonderful family trip, and we came home with some really great memories from Costa Rica.

  Planet Hollywood Costa Rica: Amazing post birthday celebration

  The entire stay was amazing from beginning to end. This trip was a post birthday celebration for me and it was truly an amazing experience. Costa Rica was the beautiful backdrop for this fantastic trip. We checked in at the hotel with Oscar who explained everything about the resort and assigned our butler Anto to us. JC took us to our room. Planet Hollywood’s all inclusive resort has various room options and my travel agent set me up in a Star Director’s 2-bedroom. It was spacious, clean, comfortable and had a fully stocked minibar and snacks. Antonio (Anto) our butler, came to the room and helped us get situated. He further explained the amenities, dining options, tours and experiences, and the spa area which had an included hydrotherapy experience. Anto was attentive and knowledgeable and he ensured my friend and I were well taken care of. He assisted us with anything that we needed. He helped us set up all our dinner reservations for the duration of our stay so we were able to not worry about it each day. We enjoyed sushi, steak, hibachi, fresh fruit, and even ordered room service for our breakfast. Each night there was some sort of entertainment. Throughout the day we roamed the property, enjoyed the beach or lounged by the pool. We rented a cabana which was a great experience and provided our own private mini pool area. During the time we enjoyed the cabana, we were well taken care of with drinks and food. We enjoyed the spa with hydrotherapy and I enjoyed an 80-minute massage by Lizette. It was the best I have ever had. The service throughout the resort and the entire time we were there was stellar. Everyone was Amazing and Anto is a star himself for making our stay a standout. He had special touches he added like sending chocolate covered strawberries to me as a birthday treat! The cost of this 3night, 4day trip was worth it. It didn’t break the bank and I should have extended my stay an additional two days. Next time! If you’re looking for an amazing experience with clean rooms, great service, good food, tour options and more, I highly recommend Planet Hollywood!
