  Amazing First Trip to Costa Rica

  Our first time in Costa Rica and it definitely won’t be our last. Our stay at Planet Hollywood was excellent from the start. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the property is well organized, and the internal transportation system is fast and convenient. The à la carte restaurants were great, especially the Tex-Mex, which was our favorite. The entertainment team created a fun and welcoming atmosphere throughout the stay, and the cabanas were absolutely worth it for the service and comfort. Friends who had previously visited Costa Rica recommended Gabriel from Nomadtourscr for transfers and tours, and it was a great decision. Everything was well organized and professional. We did Buena Vista Adventures, the La Leona Waterfall hike, and a boat tour around the peninsula with snorkeling — all amazing experiences and very well coordinated.

  Amazing Trip, Will Be Back!

  We stayed at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica for 5 days in a Star Class Junior Suite. This was our second trip to this property and we will certainly be back. Star Class: our butler was Justin and he did an excellent job of explaining all of the Star Class benefits to us and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our stay. He made our dinner reservations for each night. The first night when you arrive, it’s very difficult to get a reservation, but he met us at the steakhouse when it opened and he was able to get us in. Justin was very attentive and would meet up with us throughout the day just to see if we needed anything. The hydrotherapy session included with being Star Class was nice, very relaxing. Rooms: we were in building 26, which was close to the Star Class pool and centrally located on the property. This was the perfect location for us. During our previous stay, we were in building 11, which is close to the lobby and had a stunning view (only down side was that it was loud at night due to the entertainment and we aren’t night owls). The beds are very comfortable, I think I had some of the best nights sleep while I was there! Housekeeping came every morning and the rooms were very clean. They also did turndown service at night which was a nice touch. Food: every meal was delicious! I have celiac disease, so I have to eat a strict gluten free diet. I had no issues finding safe and delicious options. The staff at the restaurants were very knowledgeable. I went to the buffet for lunch only, and everyday the chef came out to speak to me about what I could and could not have. Star Class Breakfast at the Tex Mex restaurant was my favorite meal. They even brought out gluten free muffins each morning! Each restaurant had gluten free bread to offer as well, and the bread was surprisingly good! Guys Burgers was able to do my burger in a lettuce wrap, which I very much enjoyed! For dinner, we ate at the steak house, Tex Mex, Italian and Sushi/Hibachi. All of our meals were excellent. The only down side was the steaks had a ton of butter on them, and the portion sizes at Tex Mex seemed much smaller than the other restaurants. Resort/Service: the resort is large and very hilly. There are golf carts to take you to wherever you wish to go on the resort, but we chose to walk everywhere. The entire resort is very clean, I felt like I constantly saw staff cleaning up and maintenance staff fixing various things across the resort. The pools are all well maintained. The Star Class wait staff at the pool were all amazing and extremely attentive. The bartenders made delicious drinks. I wish I had remembered the names of the staff by the Star Class pool because they all truly went above and beyond. If you are looking for an elevated drink experience, stop by the Premiere Bar in the lobby..the bartenders there are very creative! The spa and gym were both very clean and the gym has everything you would need for a vacation workout. Beach: beautiful and unique as this is a black sand beach.. you will not get that white sand turquoise water vibe. My only warning, the sand gets extremely hot during the day, so you will want to wear your shoes until you make it down by the water! Be sure to walk the entire beach (close to a mile long) and check out the wildlife. There are monkeys on the beach at the resort. The beaches are public so you will encounter vendors trying to sell massages, excursions and souvenirs, but they were all nice and we never felt pressured by them. Transfer: we had a shared transfer with Nexus included with our booking. I did upgrade this to a private transfer, which was worth the extra cost to not have to stop at other resorts on the way or wait for other passengers. Nexus was easy to work with, as their app is simple to use and they have reps on site at the resort.

  Horrible Experience — Lost Wallet, Broken Promises, and No Accountability

  I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent stay at this resort was so disappointing that I feel obligated to share my experience. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into a stressful and unsettling ordeal. I booked and paid for an Ocean View room, but upon arrival I was given a Garden View room instead. I immediately requested a room change and was told the correct room type wouldn’t be available until the next day. While inconvenient, I agreed and asked when the room would be ready. The front desk assured me it would be ready by 3:00 PM. A few minutes before 3, I checked in again, only to be told the room was not ready and that someone could pack up my belongings for me if I didn’t want to wait. I made it clear that I preferred to pack my own things. I returned to the pool to wait, and after not hearing from anyone for nearly 45 minutes, I went back to the room myself. When I arrived, I was shocked to find a bellman already inside my room packing up my belongings—exactly what I said I did not want. I told him I would handle my own things, but at that point most of it was already packed. He loaded my suitcase onto a golf cart and brought me to my new room. I even tipped him, thinking the inconvenience was finally over. Unfortunately, things only got worse. When I began getting ready for dinner, I realized my wallet was missing. I searched everywhere and contacted my butler to escort me back to the old room, but it was nowhere to be found. After searching both rooms thoroughly with no success, I reported the missing wallet to the hotel manager. The “investigation” that followed was unsettling. Security came to my room and requested to search all of my personal belongings. They said it was protocol, but it felt intrusive and uncomfortable. I allowed them to watch me go through my belongings item by item, yet the wallet was still not found. I was told the hotel would continue the investigation to try to locate my wallet. The manager instructed me to keep the “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door so that no staff would enter my room. The next morning, I went to the front desk to speak with a manager. The day-shift manager knew nothing about the situation but assured me he would look into it. I asked him to update me once he concluded the investigation, then left for the gym while my wife went to the pool. When I returned to my room, I was shocked to find that someone had entered my room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign and the previous day’s incident. A birthday plate of chocolate-covered strawberries had been left inside with a message reading “Happy Birthday Ursula.” Although the gesture might have been well-intentioned, it made no sense—it was not my wife’s birthday, and her birthday isn’t even in December as they claimed. Beyond the confusion, the biggest issue was that someone entered my room again without permission after everything that had already happened. When I went to the front desk to ask why this happened, the manager simply said they thought it was my wife’s birthday. This explanation didn’t make sense, and instead of apologizing or offering any reassurance, he just smiled. I reiterated that no one was to enter my room for any reason and that I would come to the front desk if I needed anything. Not long after I returned to the room, someone knocked on the door again—another staff member coming to clean or deliver something, even after I had made it crystal clear that I didn’t want anyone entering. I refused the service and immediately called the front desk to report it again, stressing how uncomfortable and unsafe this made me feel. The manager, who said he would check on me and follow up, never called, never checked in, and never addressed the issue again. At this point, the situation had become so unprofessional, chaotic, and disrespectful that I simply didn’t want to be bothered anymore. I just wanted to go home. I will never stay at a Planet Hollywood resort again, and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking. By the end of the ordeal, I had lost significant time, peace of mind, and my wallet—containing cash, IDs, and important cards—while receiving no real answers, no accountability, and no meaningful support. Overall, this experience left me feeling violated, stressed, and extremely disappointed. For a resort of this caliber, the lack of professionalism, communication, and care for guest property was shocking. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to think carefully before booking her

  Exceptional Service, Especially with Star Class

  My family and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend the Star Class service — you are truly treated like a star from beginning to end. Antonio assisted us throughout our stay, and he was incredibly attentive, professional, and always focused on making sure all our needs were met. Thanks to him and the excellent service, our experience was truly memorable.
