Feb 03, 2026Not so hidden gem in the zona romantica.
The location is phenomenal, we were right in the center of the zona romantica. Everything we wanted to do was a short walk or drive away. Hotel Playa de los Arcos is a laid back place with lots of repeat clientele. The rooms were in a colonial style and were charming if a little dated. Best service by far was from Angelica who attended to our needs and kept our room shining. We stayed in room 422. She was so helpful and dedicated to our comfort. Very friendly and such a lovely soul. Our room was comfortable and the value of this hotel was well worth it. It is a budget friendly gem with the amenities (pool and beach access) that beats out more expensive places and cheaper places without the pool and beach. Most of the staff greeted me whenever I appeared in the morning from pool cleaners, security, to front desk.

Jan 29, 2026Heart of Old Town with nice beach.
Great location in the Old Town, or Zona Romantica, as it's called. Older resort, but has nice beach with abundance of chairs and umbrellas. The water in front of the hotel is petty much the safest access on Los Muertos, although one should be mindful of boat traffic that zooms in and out from time to time. Our camaista, Angelica, was wonderful and very helpful. Check around for the best rooms, as there are quite a few "caves" with no view at all. Some rooms have kitchenettes, I think all have fridges. A real pleasure every time!
Very pleased with and highly recommended this hotel! The employees are friendly and welcoming. Special mention to the staff working in the morning buffet. Rogelio, and Efrain have to be the best waiters that I’ve ever had! Such great service! The food is tasty and the restaurant overlooks the beach. Fantastic!

Resort after 37 years
The best experience in this resort was Angelica who took care of our room. She was friendly and very helpful. Always smiling and kept our room spotless. Hotel was just ok. All inclusive has changed. Now all you get are the basics and anything special costs lots more money. The beach was nice and staff was incredible helping with lounge chairs and tables. Food was hardly worth mentioning. We came here 37 years ago with family and returned with them too see how things have changes. Some good others no so good.

1) location is in the heart of zona romantica: lots of restaurant options, but continuous steam of hawkers every 15 seconds on the beach (friendly but constant) 2) location also means hotel security needed on both street and beach entrances to prevent unauthorized access/theft 3) front desk and concierge staff are rude and dismissive (we regret not paying attention to comments about this in other reviews) 4) worst of all, room smelled dank and had ++ mold growing on the ceiling. Gross You can do better - we would not come back and would not recommend it to anyone
