Do not waste your money
Given what this hotel offered a family of six, we were thrilled to book our trip here. We booked a junior suite, which offered 2 bathrooms and a living area. We immediately knew upon check-in that this was not what we expected in a Hilton property, and far from the resort-style hotel we had looked forward to. The hotel itself appeared run-down and dirty just on our walk to our room. Our room was not up to standards, to say the least (dead bugs, stained carpeting and sofa, stained lampshade, light bulbs burned out, bathroom floor and walls just awful. The mini fridge did not cool our water. The front desk offered to have someone come "deep clean", but we had moved all of our items in, so I did my best to clean and wipe down the room myself. It was late, and we decided to stay one night, as I was grateful that the resort allowed us to cancel the remainder of our stay. The grounds were disappointing; the large grotto pool was dirty. Overall, this property was such a disappointment because this hotel has potential to be a great resort. If you are looking for a "resort-style Hilton," do not pick this hotel.

Less that expected!
When I arrived, I was surprised by the antiquated room. My tv would not work so I called for maintenance. The person came and fixed the tv and left. The toilet handle stayed down after every flush. I was running late for a workshop and found the toilet kept running until I flipped the handle up. The toilet paper holder was just sitting in the wall. When I went to get toilet paper, the holder came right out of the wall. I got up the next morning and the coffee pot would not work. I called for a new one. Someone came to my door and handed me a box with a coffee maker in it and they left. I did not exactly have time to unbox and set up a new coffee pot. They have the old fashioned coffee makers where you put a little pouch in one side or two, pick one cup or two, fill with water and turn the power on. There were only two garbage containers in the entire suite and each of them was a very thin tin container that holds no more than a few tissue or a cup of coffee. It’s hard to clean up after yourself when the garbage can provided is just a tiny container. For the price, I expected a much nicer facility. The rooms are aged. The tub/shower does not have a removable shower heard so it’s hard to clean up a child. The tub does not have a proper drain plug so going for a bath is also not an option. We thought there was a lazy river, there is not! There are a few difference pools and one has some small falls, where water trickles over some rocks. I felt I paid a lot more than what the experience was worth.

Nice facility and even nicer staff.
Older Facility, very nice staff. Phoenix is hot in July and the concrete surfaces around the pool areas are even hotter. Take flip flops or slides to wear the second you step out of the water. The room was older but nice. Every staff person I spoke with was exceptionally ice and professional. I would like to come back between November and February

Dirty, Expensive, Customer Service Lacking
When we checked in, we were given a "room with a view," and charged an additional $45 per night for the upgrade. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no view. Stepping out the door of the room, all I could see was another section of hotel rooms directly in front of us. Looking left and right, there were more hotel rooms, and the view from the balcony was a rooftop covered with AC units. Paying extra for what amounted to a view of concrete and mechanical equipment was extremely disappointing. The next morning, I needed to shower before an important medical procedure. I turned on the hot water and let it run for a very long time, but it never got hot. When I called the front desk, it took quite a while for someone to answer. After explaining that I had no hot water and that I needed to get ready for a medical procedure, the employee asked, "What would you like me to do about it?" Then she followed with, "Do you want me to send engineering to your room?" The lack of urgency and concern was frustrating and came across as dismissive. Once I was finally able to shower, I found hair on the soap dish, hair on the shower walls, and hair in the tub. It was disgusting and made me question the cleanliness of the room. To make matters worse, there was a flashing light in the bedroom that blinked every five seconds throughout our stay. Also had to haul luggage up several flights of steps as there appeared to be no elevator. Parking is horrendous. Overall, this property feels dated, yet it charges premium prices. Between the nonexistent "view," lack of hot water, cleanliness issues, and poor customer service, this stay fell far below what I expect from a Hilton property. I've stayed in much nicer hotels for far less money. I left extremely disappointed and would not recommend paying the premium rates at Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort. I probably won't ever use a Hilton Honors property again.
