Long review - read if you like detail!

We have just returned from 17 nights at Ports of Call. We flew with BA from London Heathrow via Nassau. Excellent flight and all on time. Only flight in at that time so straight through customs, short wait for cases and then on our way. We got in a shared taxi that dropped off at Hotel Indigo and then us - $40. We booked a pool terrace room and were given 112. We didn’t use the small terrace outside room other than to dry our washing but we liked being able to easily access pool terrace and used these table and chairs / loungers in evening. A small problem with shower head, reported to reception and all sorted quickly with a new one fitted. The hotel experienced a water leak and had to move people on our side of hotel to other. We were given 154 and appreciated being able to get another pool deck room for remainder of our stay. The manager met with my husband and we appreciated the way that this was dealt with and responded to. Location is great for walking to everywhere we want to go. So many places and Graceway Gourmet is close by - Good deli section that does good sandwiches (tick the checklist to choose what you want) and salads (ready made or salad bar to choose your own). Things I wanted to know before we came: - Supermarket - Graceway Gourmet across road has everything you need and pharmacy next door. - Beach towels - you get 2 cards on arrival, swap for towels and then you change at reception whenever you need to. - Fridge in room - Decent size for drinks and food. - Book swap - There is an area in reception for leaving and borrowing books. - Getting around - Easy to walk to and a range of options for eating. - Ice machines - On 2nd and 3rd floors and insulated ice buckets in rooms were great. - Showers in rooms - All good and no issue with pressure etc. - Water - Provided in breakfast area and you can fill up your water bottle. - Safes - Provided in room. - Beers - We drank the local beer everywhere, Turks Head Brewery. I-Ain-Ga-Lie lager or I-Soon-Reach light lager. They also do an amber, a stout and an IPA. - Rose wine - Graceway Gourmet stocked one we liked $15. We received a card each for a free welcome drink on arrival (beer, fruit lunch or rum punch) - a nice touch. Beach was easy to walk to and plenty of loungers with umbrellas available. Golf cart provided to take you if you choose to use it. We took our own drinks but sometimes someone will come along from Reef Rockers bar in nearby Ocean Club and ask if you want a drink. The hotel could be missing a trick not having a cooler with beers and soft drinks for guests. The bar would benefit from proper menus, more interactive service and maybe daily specials. We found a lot of guests did their own from their rooms. Happy Hour at hotel we didn’t bother with as it was buy one, get 2nd half price and it was nicer to go out. 5-7pm daily - Blu Bar - Regent Village, 8 mins walk from POC. They have a menu of half price drinks. Pelican Bay bar - All drinks half price. You can walk along beach. 7mins to right with Blue Umbrellas then walk into Royal West Indies Resort. Eating out and where we went. It obviously depends on what you choose from menu and on the day but have scored our experiences out of 5. We walked to and ate at below: - Tribe 3/5 - Castaways 2/5 - Danny Buoys 1/5 - Coco Bistro 5/5 - Coco Van 5/5 - Flamingos 4/5 - Turks Kebab 4/5 - Conch and Coconuts 4/5 We walked to got food to take out from: - Patty place 5/5 - Graceway Gourmet salads and wraps 5/5 We drove to and ate at: - Shark Bite 3/5 - Baci 5/5 - Hemingways 5/5 - Da Conch Shack 5/5 - Crackpot 3/5 - Omar’s 4/5 - Mr Grouper - next to Fish Fry 4/5 Beaches we went to: - Grace Bay - Lovely for sunrise walks. You can walk a long way left or right as you get on beach. - Leeward. Clear blue sea and powdery sand. Can see why it is one of the top beaches. - Sapodilla Bay - We went early for walk and swim before crowds but they do have loungers there to rent. - Taylor Bay - No loungers or facilities and much quieter than Sapodilla. Amazing clear shallow sea. - Malcolm’s Road beach, Smith’s Reef and Coral Gardens for snorkelling. - Flamingo Beach - $30 for 2 beds and umbrella. Ate lunch at Rickie’s and ended day with mudslides from Ocean Club and then walked back stopping at Pelican Bay happy hour on way. A good day! We also walked to Salt Mills and had a look in shops and visited Potcake Rescue. We tried lots in different places and found the best for us: - Conch salad - Rickie’s Flamingo Cafe - Conch fritters - Mr Grouper - Rum punch - Da Conch Shack - Jerk chicken - Conch & Coconuts Back to hotel. The staff in the hotel are always busy maintaining and cleaning. Gardens are kept well. However would be better if machinery such as leaf blowers are used after breakfast. It woke us up early before 7 a couple of times. Most of the staff were friendly most of the time when we greeted and spoke to them. WiFi was good and two different POC ones - one worked much better on the by the pool. Comfy beds. Any issue we had in room, we advised reception and someone came and sorted it quickly. Breakfast - Changed in the time we were there. They got new equipment to present the food and the cold meat and cheese and fruit selection were extended. We appreciated this as we did not usually opt for the 2 hot options - scrambled or boiled egg / bacon or sausage. Bread/bagels/pastries/croisiants available and looked much nicer in new basket trays. The ladies worked hard restocking and keeping everything topped up. Ports of Call is a perfect location if you want to be near everything, not necessarily rent a car. The hotel is a more affordable option and it feels like the hotel is always working on improving things. Departure on a Sunday - We got a taxi from hotel at 1515 for our 1835 flight. $35 and hotel sorted for us. BA was one of last flight out of so airport got quieter quickly. Check in was quick and we sat upstairs. Thanks to BA for good flights and to Ports of Call for a lovely stay.

    Could be alot Better

My honest opinion- What we liked -Great location, the hotel was refurbished to respectable conditions, workers are often moping the grounds, water and coffee available all day, cleaning ladies are nice . What we did not like - Some of the workers are not welcoming - front desk ladies are not friendly- (the young man working the front desk was super friendly, says hi when you walk by and smiles-perfect ! )The bar man -he ignores everyone. Breakfast is basic .Room conditions -stuff is broken and wont get fixed until you tell them. Overall a decent hotel at best ,staff need to be trained on providing friendly and warm service . Upgrade your service and your hotel in my opinion gets another half star . I probably would not stay again-sorry . (2.5 Stars is my rating )

    Excellent accomodations for the price.

The room was spotless with fabulous beds and linens. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved wandering through the little shopping and dining area. The pool and outdoor playground was small and slightly run down.

Serious Safety Concern and Disappointing Guest Recovery

I stayed at Ports of Call Resort in Turks and Caicos from April 30, 2026 to May 4, 2026 for what was supposed to be a meaningful birthday trip. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and included serious safety and service concerns. On May 1, while I was actively in the shower, the shower head detached and fell. I reported it to the front desk, and maintenance did respond quickly, which I appreciated. However, the following night, around 2:00 a.m., we were awakened to our room extremely hot and significantly flooded with very hot water. The in-room phone was not working, so I had to contact the front desk from my cell phone. Water was actively leaking from the ceiling and through/near a light fixture (photo attached), which was not only disruptive but also a serious safety concern. We waited approximately 45 minutes to an hour at 2am in the morning before being relocated to another room. Because water was actively flooding the room, we were unable to gather our belongings at that time. When we returned around 6:00 a.m., the room was hot, fogged over, had condensation on the ceiling, and some of our personal belongings were damp. This also happened on my birthday, and we had an early morning excursion that could not be refunded. After being moved, the second room had little to no water pressure, and we were later told water service would likely not be restored until later that evening. I contacted the resort directly before posting publicly because I wanted to give them the opportunity to address the matter appropriately. Their resolution was an offer of two future nights, with an expiration date of two years, but it required a signed agreement that included not posting a review. There was no consideration of the impact that this issue (and lack of appropriate follow up) affected my birthday celebration and the overall experience for my guests. I declined the offer because no actual refund was provided, and I did not feel that future nights with those conditions adequately addressed the seriousness of what occurred. I am giving two stars because some staff members were responsive in the moment, but overall, this experience was not handled with the level of urgency, accountability, or customer care I would expect from a resort. Future guests should be aware that some negative experiences may not appear online if guests accept compensation that requires them not to post about what happened. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Ports of Call Resort if you are looking for a reliable, well-managed stay or a property that takes serious guest disruptions and safety concerns seriously.
