Oct 15, 2026Worst all inclusive experience I've ever had.
The only positives about this resort is that the rooms were clean and the beach was nice. The cons: The mini frig consisted of 6 soft drinks. We were informed if we drank all of those we would be charged. The "reservation required" restaurants were very low quality. Only low end alcohol available. Modelo was the only beer, even Corona was considered a specialty?! Everything seemed as if they were doing it as cheaply as possible. The only good restaurant is the buffet. Lots of kids, lots of noise at night. Phone was broken in the room, Leak in the ceiling, smoke detector going off at night. Harassed multiple times by the front desk staff to do some nonsense time share thing to get a discount on excursions. This is a poor excuse for an all inclusive resort.

Oct 14, 2026An Amazing Family Vacation at The Reef Playacar!
We spent one wonderful week at The Reef Playacar with our family group of 12 people, including both adults and children, and the hotel exceeded our expectations! The service throughout the resort was excellent, the hotel was very clean, and the staff were always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. A special mention goes to the entertainment team, especially Oz and Gaby, who did a fantastic job making our stay even more enjoyable. We would also like to give special recognition to Uziel and Enrique at the bars. Their outstanding service, friendly attitude, and attention to detail made a real difference to our experience. These four team members truly deserve recognition for their excellent work! The food was another pleasant surprise. We found ourselves enjoying it more and more each day, with a great overall dining experience throughout our stay. Room cleanliness was impeccable, and housekeeping did a wonderful job. Although The Reef Playacar is a smaller resort, the beach was surprisingly beautiful and very enjoyable. We did encounter a little seaweed, but it certainly did not take away from how much we loved the beach. Overall, we had a fantastic family vacation and left with great memories. The excellent service, friendly staff, cleanliness, entertainment, food, and beautiful beach made our stay truly special. Thank you to the entire The Reef Playacar team, especially Oz, Gaby, Uziel, and Enrique, for making our family vacation such a wonderful experience. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Went to the Reef Sept. 25 till Oct. 2 with my fiancé . We had a great time, The people that run this place made our experience amazing. We weren't made aware of the environmental tax which was 490 pesos which was ok. But when we checked in we were given 2 champagnes awesome!! We had to wait a couple of hours to get into our room that wasnt fun, but when we did get into the room we had champagne and roses on our bed.. celebrating our 15 yrs together. But then we talked with the coniseurge and he talked us into going to another hotel for breakfast the next morning and there they wanted us to do almost a time share or buy a place. That was not happening.. we got a cab which they paid for and went back to our hotel to finally relax and enjoy our vacation.. so the rooms were were very clean and the maids worked very hard . Even brought us wine on one day.. loved it. The beach was beautiful but did have a lot of seaweed in the mornings.. kinda felt bad for the guys cleaning it up by hand and bagging it.. The pool bar was our hang out. Love the bartender Fredy.. he could make any drink you wanted.. and made great conversation.. the resort is in a jungle setting and was very clean and well kept.. it was pretty awesome even with all the little animals. The food was good as well , found it was the same most times at the buffet for lunch and dinner.. We did the Italian restaurant and it was so good... all in all the resort was good and I always tell people you make your vacation what it is.. it was a short walk to the market about 10 min. Bought a few things to bring home..

It was a really nice stay and i loved all the activities you could do. Osnay was really motivated and made everyone welcome. He is one of the best Volleyball players i met at the resort:)

Friends trip
Great experience, great value and service for a 4 stars resort , very very happy with the room the food , cleaning, atmosphere, location and staff and I want to mention to great and lovely persons always available to help the activities team Osnay and Daniela .
