  Do Not Recommend — Extremely Disappointing Stay

  Extremely Disappointing — Not the Beach Vacation We Paid For If you are considering booking this resort, do your homework before you go. Our experience was nothing like the beach vacation we thought we were paying for. When we landed in Mexico and told a local where we were staying, their immediate reaction was, “Yuck.” We were also warned that the ocean in front of the resort was not safe for swimming because of dangerous conditions. That was news to us. We booked a beach vacation, yet we were never clearly informed that the beach conditions would prevent us from enjoying the ocean. This was a major disappointment and something we absolutely would have wanted to know BEFORE spending our money on this trip. When we arrived at the resort, our first impression was just as bad. The property looked run-down and poorly maintained. We immediately asked whether we could leave and receive a refund for the unused portion of our stay, even if there was a cancellation penalty. We were told that because it was Sunday, there was no one available to help with reservations until 9:00 a.m. Monday. We checked in and contacted CheapCaribbean to see if they could help us get out of the resort. We were told the decision was up to the hotel. The next morning, at 9:00 a.m., I went straight to the front desk and asked to receive a refund for the remaining six days of our stay. The hotel refused. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. The room was musty and damp. The couch was absolutely disgusting. There was visible water damage on the wall and in the ceiling of the shower. Our balcony door was broken. And the view from our front door was of a trashy-looking construction area. The grounds were poorly maintained. Lawns were not mowed, plants were dead, and a water hose was stretched across walkways. At the family pool, lights were hanging out of their sockets. The pool furniture was old and worn. Then there was the adult pool. It was disgusting. There was hair, bugs, dead crabs, and cups from the bar floating in the water. To our knowledge, the pool was not properly cleaned during our entire stay. The coffee shop wasn't much better. There were holes in the ceiling from water damage. We were among the first guests there when it opened one morning, yet there were crumbs all over the tables and floor. It appeared that the area had not even been cleaned from the night before. For the amount of money we spent, this was completely unacceptable. We didn't expect perfection. We expected a reasonably clean, properly maintained resort, accurate information about the beach, and basic hospitality. Instead, we spent our vacation dealing with poor maintenance, questionable cleanliness, water damage, broken fixtures, an unusable beach, and a resort that refused to refund us even after we immediately explained that the property was not what we had expected. The most frustrating part is that we tried to address the situation immediately. We didn't wait until the end of the trip and then complain. We saw the condition of the property when we arrived, asked to leave, and were refused a refund. Based on our experience, we would not return to this resort and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation. Book with caution and make sure you understand the actual beach conditions and current condition of the property before handing over your money.   Great experience. Great people. Workers are friendly and treat guest with excellent care. Activities are fun. Vanessa is a great entertainer and makes guests feel welcome . She made the stay very enjoyable!

  Very lovely week

  Thank you for a lovely week in this resort. Our room was very nice and clean every day. The staff were alwaty good to us. Hard working bunch. Food and ambience were great. I may add a suggestion though you can have some entertainment. You had nighty singers but we thought a bigger production in the entertainment is needed every night to keep folks engaged.
