A place defined by its STAR staff!
Once again, Rose Ashley made all the difference in our stay by going above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable during the vacation that we had spent all year dreaming of. Specifically - we all know that sleeping on a convertible couch mattress isn't ideal, but with everything that Rose set up for us, it became bearable, and we were able to get much-needed rest :) This is just one of the many ways she went the extra mile for my family and me. She has become an icon of our vacations, and we cannot wait to be able to greet her again during our next stay. However, we'd be remiss if we didn't also give much-deserved s/o's to other very special staff members who left their mark on our hearts: Alex @ Solé, Diane @ Fresco, Caithlyn @ the Navigator, Melissa M. @ Front Desk, Caroline & Ito @ Aquarius, Jason @ the Steakhouse, Jean-Pierre @ Bellhop Services, and Melinda & Emma @ Activities. Flamingo Beach Day Pass Review - Beautiful Island, worth it!
My boyfriend and I went with the Day pass here. Parking to get to the transport was easy to find when we went at 10 am. Unfortunately all the cabanas was showing sold out when we called before going, but two were available when we got there. You have to stay at Renaissance to have first dibs and can only book on site if not. Im so happy we got one. Note, food and drinks are not provided on a day pass. I brought water with me. It was a beautiful day. The staff were really nice, relaxed, and we saw several flamingos and iguanas. Flamingo and Iguana Beach is maybe a 1 minute walk away from each other, separated by a short bridge. Adults and walk through both. I saw more flamingos on iguana beach, but that is as expected since they roam where they want to go. All in all, very reccomended experience. I will go back in the future.

Perfect stay!
Great place to stay… The staff are exceptionally friendly, from the waitstaff and bartenders, to the housekeeping and grounds people. We go every year here and it’s no surprise we keep coming back.

Oct 02, 2026Worth staying at the resort for flamingo island access
The hotel was ok but a bit outdated. They are currently renovating the lobby so don’t stay right now if that is a problem for you. I’m sure the lobby will look excellent when completed in November. The ride to flamingo island was quick and the island is beautiful. Worth staying at the resort for the access.
