Lovely Property, But Cruise Ships and Noise Can Affect the Experience
This is a very clean, well-located property with friendly staff and some genuinely nice features, but there are important tradeoffs to understand before booking, especially at higher nightly rates. Pros: The hotel is very clean overall, which I really appreciated. I did not notice any mold, musty smells, messy towels, or worn towels, which were mentioned in some other reviews. The beds are comfortable, and water pressure was excellent with plenty of hot water. One lamp with built-in outlets in the middle of the room did not work, but it didn’t materially affect my stay since there were enough other outlets and lamps. As a Marriott member, I was upgraded to an ocean-view room, which was very much appreciated. Loyalty recognition can feel inconsistent at many U.S. properties, so this was a genuinely nice touch. The staff throughout the resort were consistently friendly and welcoming. The man-made pool and beach area is beautiful and a real highlight of the property. It’s thoughtfully designed, relaxing, and visually stunning. Separately, the location is very convenient for walking around Willemstad, nearby restaurants, and shops, which is a real plus if you don’t want to rent a car. Things I Wish I Knew Before Booking: The resort sits next to a cruise port, and during my stay there was at least one cruise ship in port every day, often two. When ships are docked, they completely block the ocean view, including sunsets. I even walked to the top of Fort Rif on multiple evenings and still could not see the sunset from that vantage point. Over a four-night stay, I wasn’t able to see a single sunset from the property. At night, exterior lighting from the port and surrounding area remains quite bright, so sleeping with the curtains fully closed is necessary. There is also a noticeable party atmosphere at times, with loud music during the day and evening coming from the on-site bar, Five O’Clock Somewhere. The bar sits directly along the main walkway, so guests are required to pass through the area frequently. On some days, the music included heavy bass played at levels that made daytime rest difficult. Even with earplugs and a sound machine, it was hard to nap, and my room was not the closest to the bar. While cruise traffic itself is outside the hotel’s control, the music volume sometimes felt at odds with an upscale resort experience. Even when things were quieter, there was consistent mechanical or air-conditioning noise that often drowned out the sound of the ocean. The breakfast buffet is $32 and quite bland for the price, which felt overpriced. Beach and Island Context: The pool and man-made beach are clearly intentional and very well done. This area of Curaçao is not where the island’s calmest natural beaches are located. Many of the most beautiful, swimmable beaches are on the west side of the island, which is less developed and has very few hotels. Visiting those beaches is absolutely worth it, but typically requires renting a car, and many rental agencies have a three-day minimum. Value Note: I booked at a very good rate and felt satisfied overall. At current nightly prices that can approach $700, however, these same issues would have been much more disappointing. The upgrade definitely added value to my stay. Bottom Line: A good option if you value cleanliness, friendly service, a great pool, and a walkable location, and don’t mind port activity. Travelers seeking a consistently quiet, upscale resort experience with unobstructed sunsets and natural ocean sounds may want to look elsewhere.

Not your typical Renaissance experience.
Disappointing experience. This is definitely a different hotel than the one I experienced on my last visit in 2018. Based on my previous stay with the hotel, I did not hesitate to book as part of my honeymoon trip. Our first room, was set up for one guest with one set of towels. Not a major issue, however the towels were stained and had appeared to be used along with the toiletries in the room. To make matters worse, there was no hot water in our room. We discovered these issues in the evening after exploring the island. I walked down to the front desk to speak with the manager and was told they were busy speaking with another guest, but would call my room once finished. The call never came. I went back downstairs and was told the manager had left but they could send maintenance to the room to show us how to turn on the water. Yes, you read that correctly. In addition to that, they sent more towels to the room, one of which also had a stain. The next morning I was able to speak to DiDi the daytime manager who was very kind in listening to the issues. She along with Zahara (not sure if I spelled her name correctly, but she is one of the front desk agents) worked to move my husband and I to a suite which was slightly better. The suite still did not have hot water and did have some mold issues in the bathroom, but we do appreciate their efforts to make the change. While the hotel in close proximity to good restaurants at the Fort and downtown Curacao, be aware that the infinity pool and restaurant "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" is sold as an excursion to Carnival Cruisers which created a crowed experience on some days. The 3rd star is only for the helpful and friendly staff. Without Didi and Zahara, this would be a 2 star review.

Fantastic location and staff
My wife and I recently spent a week here and loved our stay! We decided to do the all-inclusive package and really found it to be worth it! Our room was great, very spacious and had a balcony overlooking the man-made lagoon. The location is amazing, right next to shopping and restaurants and a short walk to the famous Queen Emma bridge and the downtown area. With the all-inclusive plan we were able to get wine/beer/liquor drinks (with the exception of very expensive upgrades which is understandable) and food at all of their places. They have a lot of variety for meals throughout the day and it was also great that the plan included Starbucks which was awesome. The hotel doesn't have a natural beach but they created an amazing saltwater lagoon that is filled each day from the ocean along with a sandy beach and a small pool both of which have an infinity edge. I also want to mention the amazing staff! Andy and Rai at the Nautilus Lobby Bar were great to talk to at the end of long days of fun. By the pool Romario, Ivoriee and Bianca were fantastic. Overall, the location, the price, the all-inclusive options and the amazing staff made a great vacation. We will be back!

In the Heart of Things
It’s a great location, right next to a lot of shopping and restaurants, and easily walkable to the bridge. However, it’s also right next to the cruise terminal, so it certainly has a touristy vibe, and can be loud, as opposed to a more natural, secluded beach feel that other resorts might have. There’s also no beach, but the infinity pool gives the impression of a beach with a sandy bottom and looking out over the water beyond. The servers by the pool were great as well. We really enjoyed our stay, but this hotel might not be for everyone.
