    Good enough

I enjoyed my stay overall. I wanted to relax and I was able to do that. The beach was beautiful. The food was not good. The quality, taste, and the cooking of the food was bad. I went to the bathroom a lot, so it didn't digest well either. I enjoyed the RIU party and some of the other activities at the resort.

Riu Bambu Needs Major Improvements to Match Its 5 Star Rating

Our family recently stayed at Riu Bambu over the New Year period, and while we arrived with high expectations based on the resort’s advertising, the experience unfortunately did not match what was promised. Overall, the property felt closer to a 3‑star resort. Several issues affected our stay and in particular for the price we paid for a advertised 5 star resort. Our patio door had no functioning lock, and despite requesting repairs three separate times, it was never addressed. The in‑room safe worked only intermittently, which made securing our belongings stressful. Maintenance concerns extended beyond the room as well — many bathroom door handles around the resort were missing or broken. Basic amenities were also inconsistent. The main bar had no milk available for two days, which meant the coffee machine couldn’t be used properly. On two afternoons after 1 p.m., towels were completely unavailable, which is surprising for a resort of this size. We also noticed coffee being poured from a bucket into the machine, which raised concerns about hygiene and standards. The beach area in front of the resort was not maintained to the same level as neighbouring properties along the same stretch, making the contrast quite noticeable. Service varied. While some staff were polite, many interactions felt indifferent or unengaged. That said, the chef deserves recognition for being attentive to our daughter’s celiac needs — his care stood out and was genuinely appreciated. One highlight worth mentioning was the New Year’s Eve buffet, which was by far the best meal served all week. The quality and presentation that night showed what the resort could deliver if that level of effort were consistent. Riu Bambu has potential, but significant improvements in maintenance, service consistency, and overall quality control are needed for it to meet the expectations set by its advertising. We hope management takes this feedback constructively, as the location and layout could offer a much better experience with the right attention.

Resort is below average, only beach is nice

Just returned from a vacation at this resort. Overall we had a good time, but I must say the only good thing about the resort is the beach. The resort itself is very outdated, the rooms are old and tired, the towels are smelly, sheets are dirty. It’s quite loudly most of the times, especially during the parties. The food is tolerable: quality of products is poor. Only dinners at specialty restaurants are ok, buffet is pretty bad. Definitely not coming back.

    Rui bambu, punts cana

Hotel room in desperate need of updating. In the mama juana restaurant birds were flying around and attempting to pinch food from residents tables. Hot water only comes on at 8 am. The reception and exterior cannot be faulted. If you go with low expectations about aa room then you wont be disappointed. This hotel is advertised as a 5 star and we would only give it 3. The food is mediocre in all restaurants We 1st stayed there in 2019 and retuned for christmas and new year plus its supposed to be a 5 star. We were really disappointed with our room and food and wont be returning 😪
