Great deal for all-inclusive
My buddy's bachelor party went off with only a few minor glitches at Riu Cancun. Everything about our stay was great with the exception of a few small issues... Our main issue was the miscommunication about how to make a dinner reservation at the special restaurants—we were told you did not need to make a reservation and it's "first come, first served." Well this was correct except they failed to mention that you need to go as soon as they open and put in your name/group and then you'll get called. It was part of our plan to eat at the nice steakhouse on our last evening, and not a single one of the restaurants were seating anyone by the time we went down. They should make this very clear at check-in, especially for those inquiring specifically about how to do so. Another thing we found odd was that they closed the pools at 7pm, when the sun hadn't even set yet. I understand this might be a safety issue, but it was too bad as we had some lovely evenings that would've been nicer spent in the pools. Finally, I would just give the warning that the drinks were a bit gross at times. I would stick with simpler drinks because things like frozen daiquiris and margaritas were so full of sugar (or sugar-substitute?) that they were barely drinkable. Other than these things, we really had a great time! The food was pretty good considering the cost of the stay, despite us not being able to go to any of the specialty restaurants.

Riu is 👍
It was really good in general.staff were great, drink was great, entertainment was really good. You don't get board in this hotel. I didn't like italian restaurant at all! Japanese also wasn't great. The only restaurant that i liked was stakehouse. In general food was not bad but not awesome. The beach was also not bad because there wasn't anywhere to lay down beside he beach, we had to lay down beside the pools which was full all the time!

Beautiful view of the ocean!
This resort had one of the best views of the ocean I’ve ever had! We had an ocean view room and loved sitting on the balcony and watching the ocean! The ocean was so clear and blue! The rooms were clean and well stocked! The food got repetitive and a little dull but it was still good! There were 4 pools. 3 in one area of the resort (one pool bar with an amazing view of the ocean from the infinity pool, one entertainment pool where they had fun pool games everyday, and one calmer pool with an infinity pool and pretty view of the ocean) then the 4th pool was off to the side of the lobby and it is a quieter pool but the water was freezing! One recommendation I have though is they need a pool bathroom near the 3 pools. This resort is adult only and had a very party atmosphere especially at the pool bar. The beach itself isn’t very big but the beautiful water makes up for it. The only other thing I noticed is that the pools get shaded early in the afternoon due to the hotel being tall and blocking then sun. Overall I would recommend this resort especially for its beautiful views!

Vacation
Overall, the experience was a good one. Staff was very attentive. Food was amazing. The only issue I had was that my room was a little dated. The resort is beautiful though.

Ideal vacation
We enjoyed the property, location, and food. The room was basic, but clean, the entertainment was about what we expected. Would have liked a king bed instead of 2 doubles pushed together. Suggestion, would be to add karaoke to nightly entertainment somewhere. Also, was annoyed that the Pool tables were a pay to use, at an all inclusive resort.
