After many excellent stays at various Riu Resorts our first stay at Riu Dunamar was all we hoped it would be. Our ground floor room requests were in a perfect location and we even received an unexpected upgrade to a beautiful corner suite. Our room attendant made sure the rooms were very clean and well supplied The buffets had lots of great food options and the place was spotless. Eva at the dinner buffet was the best. Very attentive and friendly. Lots of pool options and grandsons loved the waterpark. Drinks around the pool were plentiful as Russell made sure all guests were served quickly and with a smile We will definitely be back

Fantastic hotel
First of all, claps to the girl on the grill doing the steaks all days on the buffet. The food was the best of the trip, and the bed quality and the drinks.

RIU Dunamar
I love the staff, hotel, and food. Thank you for a spectacular stay. It was awesome. Looking forward to coming back.

Room was nice and clean . But had to report it on app to be cleaned for bugs . As kept getting bitten . The left some spray in the room for us to use . Said spray the room as we left at. Night for dinner . The first night we arrived was very pleasant In the dinning room .But suddenly changed overnight. In the morning we asked for coffee . As the same as other guests . But totally blanked us . I asked another waiter . She did the same . So fetched our own from the machine . Noticed the other guests were been fetched glasses of fruit juices to the tables . The evening was the same . Asked for water and a glass of wine . Brought it about 15 mins after . This happened several times in the restaurant. When going to the bar I noticed that the local Mexican and Argentine people were always given premium drinks with all the trimmings etc . We had the local spirit and just placed in the the bar . Every bar you went to was the same . The pool bar has a waiter service around the pool . We were ignored all the time . Just serve the locals and just go past us . The main steak house was even worse . We were served out starter etc . He poured us 2 glasses of wine . He asked us for our main course. Brought the dips etc . Asked for some water and more wine . He kept walking past with wine bottle and smiling and serving the other Mexican guests . After about 20 . I noticed every one wet red eating there main meals . I approached the waiter for our main meal . He eventually fetched it 5 mins later . Dumped it on our table and just walked off . This hotel definitely does not like the English tourist . As mainly South American quests are in the hotel . The last straw was the main bar in reception. Blatantly giving other tables little snacks . And totally blanking us . Reported it to reception three times . Said was going to look into it. ( would definitely not recommend this hotel to the English )

The resort had an overall nice feel. I will start with the lobby, exterior and grounds, all were nicely clean and well maintained. The room overall was nice but some areas are clearly in need of painting (walls/baseboards). The staff was exceptional. Everyone was attentive, nice and a pleasure to interact with. Entertainment could be a bit better. We found ourselves kind of bored. The club was more Spanish focused. I get it, we’re in Mexico but the music should be more diverse. The food was okay. We mainly ate at the buffet and were able to find a variety of options. The location is super far from everything else so if you’re looking to be near the action, this would not be the best resort option. If you’re looking for a nice, budget friendly resort, then this one would check the box.
