  We had 11 adults and two kids under 18 all in all. It was a good trip. The weather was great. The hotel was very clean.The beach was beautiful. Our hotel was on the seventh floor and the view was beautiful. The pools were nice. The drinks were great. The food was good. The entertainment in the evening I felt was poor and there was at times long waits for the elevator.

  Riu Emerald Bay Review

  Overall very good. Had requested a room on the top or upper floor a month before but was not accommodated for it so that would be an annoyance for me. TV remote and phone did not work in the room but was taken care of quickly. Age of the hotel is starting to show and needs some major upgrades. Can tell the tiles around the bathtub were added afterwards and tub had rust spots. Overall was happy with my stay. Air conditioning is fairly loud as well.

  Just lovely!

  Beautiful report and location. Good variety of food. Mini bar stocked with primarily high sugar drinks though Diet Pepsi and club soda could be ordered via the Riu app. App worked well for re stocking mini bar, making reservations etc. The local city bus route passes by the front of the hotel for easy access to the city of Mazatlan. My only concern was the significant risk for cross contamination on the buffet tables especially with shell fish. There was beautiful shell fish available most meals but given the potential for serious reactions for those with shellfish allergies, all the shellfish should be together at a separate station. On several occasions I saw a guest use tongs to pick up shellfish, then use the same tongs to take lettuce, tomatoes, cheese etc This can be a nightmare for those who are allergic to shellfish, potentially causing life threatening anaphylaxis. As well, the first aid/ medical office is in a separate building from the restaurants, not quick access in an emergency.

  Great experience RIU Emerald Bay Feb 2026

  Great little airport for arrivals, hired private taxi from airport. Zone 2 $590 pesos took about 15 minutes on the highway. Downloaded the app and checked in advance of arrival, took about 10 minutes at the desk and we were in our room. App is great for check in and request prior to arrival and used to restock mini bar throughout the stay. Response time 10-15 minutes! Room 714 in the middle of tower beautiful view. Quiet room from hotel end a bit noisy from pool area but manageable with the door closed. Room was spacious requested king bed, needed to step into tub for a shower but not an issue. The vibe is vacation and relaxing, staff friendly and accommodating, hotel tower is a bit older but in good repair. New addition is nice but a bit too modern for my taste would prefer more authentic Mexican decor as tower area. Inside and out very clean! Pool area well maintained perhaps more stations to drop off plates as people would leave laying about and attached birds. Mentioned in app and staff were cleaning up after quests ASAP. Great beach area lots of space and lounge chairs. Yes there are vendors and two bands playing at the same time but nothing resort can do. 2nd stay at Riu other was Cancun both great quality of hotel and food for the price. Would highly recommend.

  Amazing vacation!

  I highly recommend the Riu Emerald Bay. My young adult children and I spent last week there. From the shuttle service, food, drinks, pools, beach, you name it, everything was fabulous! The staff are incredible.
