  Great relaxing trip

  Riu Jalisco was great and we will definitely be booking again. We stayed in the new building closer to the pools and beach. No elevators but we had a ground level room. Room was very clean. Only slight complaint was the auto-lighting in the bathroom; it would not turn off for a few mins and would shine through the shower window into the bedroom. They state that the fridge is only re-stocked every other day, we had no issues, water was always restocked to 5 large bottles. Amenities checked and cleaning was done daily. Our room was behind the main theatre stage. Did not have any complaints about the noise from the theatre. I was expecting it would be bothersome during the evening, but it was barely noticeable. Food was standard for a Riu resort, nothing spectacular but consistent. Alot of fresh fruit at the buffet and also at the poolside snack bar. I appreciated the labelling in the buffet, each dish will tell you what possible allergens there are, very helpful if you have food sensitivities/allergies. Being a full family resort, my expectation was that it was going to be overrun with children, but it did not feel like that at all. We were also there just after Spring break so maybe less families there at that time. Even so, the pool area layout and placement of the children’s area was great. Poolside, there were always a lot of chair/loungers available. After having been to other resorts where I had to get up before 7am to reserve chairs, this was nice. There was daily entertainment and exercise classes at the pool. There was live music a few of the days, which was nice and different from the usual DJ. There wasn’t any poolside drink service. Maybe this is standard at a Riu family resort? I’m not sure but I found it odd, I haven’t been to an all-inclusive where there wasn’t drink service to the pool loungers. The bar always had a long line-up for drinks. Chairs on the beach were just as numerous but there were no umbrellas. Beach vendors were renting them out for 30-50$ USD per day. There was a small market right next to the resort selling souvenirs. The beach vendors are everywhere but I didn’t find them aggressive. You can visit the associated property just down the beach, Riu Vallarta. You can use their pools and eat lunch in the buffet, but only lunch, not breakfast or dinner or the a la cart restaurants. It was nice to have access and have reference if we ever were going to consider staying there. We only ate lunch there once; the buffet food was about the same as Riu Jalisco. It was my partner's birthday during the trip, we did not say anything at check-in, but it looks like they noticed and they left a small treat and birthday note in the room on his birthday. We weren't expecting anything but very nice that they noticed.

  White party

  This was our 1st trip. Everything was amazing but only one day on Friday after white party, people were shouting near room at 2am We were freaking out as we got very scared. We literally thought some kind of violence is going on It was very scary. This is the only reason I gave this rating But rest everything was amazing

  Their lack of security is a RED FLAG! Phones stolen from locals

  My husband and I traveled to Mexico this past weekend, and we stayed at Riu Flamingos. We visited Mexico for a friend's wedding that took place on their property on Saturday, May 16. The evening of the wedding, both my husband's phone and my phone were stolen on their property. After questioning a few people who were in the area, we walked up to the front desk, where we received little to no help or even concern for our stolen devices. We have been able to track our phones when they are turned on, and they are two miles away from Riu Flamingos at someone's house...THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. The phones were stolen from their property the evening of May 16 and were immediately taken off the property two miles away on the same night. The bottom line is that the resort has a MAJOR security problem. This tells me that people who are not staying at the resort can sneak onto the property if they so wish. Red flag! When booking an all-inclusive resort in another country, you expect top-level security because you want to feel safe when you're on vacation in an unfamiliar setting. This doesn't make me feel safe, and I am incredibly disappointed in the level of care, attention, and protection the resort offered my husband and me during our stay. If we felt safe to rescue our phones, we would have, but we are not from Mexico, nor do we feel it would have been a smart idea to knock on someone's door demanding our phones back. However, it's incredibly devastating to know where our phones are, but we have no means or way of retrieving them. At the end of the day, we do not necessarily care about the phones...but the photos and videos that we have lost because of this incident. We traveled to Mexico for a friend's wedding, which means SO many important, irreplaceable, and priceless memories from their wedding day that are now lost. I am praying that whoever took our iPhones comes to their senses and returns them to the hotel, but I am not counting on it. I hope this can serve as a reminder that RIU can do MUCH better in terms of guest incidents and, most importantly, the level of security of their property. We are very upset, and this will definitely deter us from ever returning to a RIU property in the future.

  Beautiful renovations

  Riu Jalisco/Flamingoes We stayed at the Rio Jalisco, which switched over to the Rio flamingoes April 29 to May 6. The renovations here are amazing. The hotel incredibly clean and well cared for the staff work hard are super friendly and trying to ensure everybody has a great time there’s an ice cream bar inAmerican hamburger stand restaurant a taco bar snack bar at the grill at the Pool bar, chipotle which is the main buffet, which is where we ate at most of the nights and the breakfast is here are probably the best I’ve ever had anywhere phenomenal! The only thing I can say about this hotel, which is heartbreaking for me to say we stayed in the 7000 which is the newest block buildings and it does not have an elevator. We made the mistake of Karen in our own suitcase there and my husband has health issues and we wereon the second floor, which turns out to be the third floor, but if you come in from the front, it’s the fourth floor so Karen bags up those stairs was a lot. If you stay at the far end, it’s a little bit less cause you go down only three set of stairs so make sure you if you have mobility issues and at the very least tip and ask a luggage bellboy to assist you. We did make a mistake one night sadlyI’ve eaten at the Asian restaurant which was beautiful, but we did get out was it the restaurant? I don’t know thank God I brought antibiotics I bounced back fast all in all a great trip. I would return 100% great location.

  Beautiful renovated resort

  Major upgrades made to this hotel. Pleasant staff, great food! My only complaints would be lack of washrooms and bars near the pools. Long walk from the beach and some pools. No shade on the beach at all. Would not hesitate to come back!
