A wonderful 13 days
Just returned last night 1/21/26. We are 3 active couples in our 60's & 70's. Yes, some in our group went down the waterslide. Personally my husband and I have traveled to a variety of locations, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe - River Cruise and many Caribbean Islands and Mexico. We stayed at the Riu Tropical Palace in Jamaica last year and suggested to our friends to go to Riu Latino for our 9th annual Friends Vacay. We do not drink so if you are looking for info on the alcohol - won't find it here. Transportation - USA Transfers - have used them repeatedly - so easy, great communication. Took about 45 minutes to get from the airport, minutes going back to the airport. The resort overall is a small resort and everything is easy to get to and find. It's not super tropical in appearance - building is boxy, pools are all square or rectangle shaped. They were continually planting new plants so the vegetation - palm trees, flowers are young but everything is kept up so it looks nice. Food - I believe from going to MANY All-Inclusives that the Riu Brand has figured out how to do a buffet. Each station has a cook, so you are getting freshly cooked food. They have an outstanding variety and we were there 13 days and I think for the first time no one said they were "over the buffet". And there is a dinner buffet that we like for an option that many resorts are doing away with. We love having that option. The Asian Restaurant is actually a buffet too and everyone like that. The Steakhouse was good the Gourmet was ok - different and the Italian was very good, probably our fav after the Asian. None of us are "foodies" so if you are you might desire more. Peppes the grill by the beach had Great grilled chicken and that was our "go-to" when we didn't want to eat at the buffet. But what made the Buffet the best was our waitress Nelli - she actually made our vacation. When we arrived we went to the buffet and were greeted with the biggest smile and it never went away. As the week went on I specifically watched her and she was constantly finding ways to make the guest experience the best. So thoughtful and by the second or third visit whe knew what we wanted to drink, I like limes in my water there was always a plate, extra napkins and that smile!!! I watched here work with other employees and everyone seemed happy working with her. She definitely should hold a higher position because she is an asset to the dining experienc. I typically don't go to a resort twice but because of Nellie I would go back to this one. I miss her already. Beach - the first day there was some sargassum in the water but after that didn't see any. A huge tractor is out there in the morning taking care of any on the beach. We were initially concerned about the number of umbrellas and lounge chairs (because of the pic on the website) but there were plenty and help is out there to find one for you. Also they have beach games going on throughout the day. Walking to the beach is a bit of a workout and we had one person with mobility issues but he was able to walk down a couple of times, but the sand is beautiful but very thick and deep which makes the walk a workout. Pools/Waterslide - As you are facing the beach the Pool on the right by the waterslide is the quietest. And lots of people used the waterslide - note it is closed on Mondays. We went over to the left where the bigger pool was and where the activities (pool exercises and fun games). It's louder there with music. Cleanliness - Oh my goodness, I read repeatedly about the cleanliness but thought - "Ok Really? so many people commented on it". But wow - there are people constantly cleaning every floor, the pool decks, the bathrooms, the hallways, the foyer floors, and so now I know why so many people commented. Rooms - The rooms are your basic resort room, clean. We were given a room that was not what I had requested and I decided to go with it but it didn't work and the problem was resolved in a matter of few hours. We are a coffee drinkers and the coffee in the room is great so when we went through our room coffee I would ask for more and always got what was needed. There were no robes in the roomes but one quick call and the robe was at my door. Entertainment - I would say the the demographics is basically 20-40 year olds and it seemed like people were participating in the evening activities at the stage. Each night by the restaurants there are people dressed up with different games to play. One thing we really appreciated that you can rarely find is the more casual feel for dinner. I'm all for if you want to dress to the nines - love even seeing everyone dressed up but we are from a cold climate and the men appreciated not having to wear pants. Men wore nice t-shirts and dress shorts so like in Jamaica it was a more laid back Caribbean feel that we really liked. I wondered what 13 days would be like as we typically do 10 days but this was a wonderful almost 2 weeks.

Perfect Chill Resort
This was a wonderful resort to stay at. It was our first all-inclusive. The chill vibe and beautiful views were perfect for what we needed. We ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet and Brandon was our server. He was amazing. He worked hard and fast and was the friendliest staff member we had contact with. Super nice guy and very attentive.

Outstanding Entertainment Manager – Ana 💯
Second year here at RIU Latino adults only, stayed 16 days this time. Honestly Ana manager of entertainment team is a big reason we keep coming back. She’s always smiling, always around, always bringing good vibes. Entertainment feels fun and easy, not forced at all. You can tell she really cares about people and her team. After so many days it really started to feel like home and leaving was not easy. Thank you Ana for making our vacation so special, we’ll definitely be back. Larisa& Gurgen

Amazing Experience - Would Recommend
We traveled last week with a group of 12 and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was excellent—the buffet, Peppe’s, and the Italian, Asian, and Steak House à la cartes were all fantastic. We agreed with other reviews that the Italian restaurant actually served the best steak. Staff were always happy to move tables so our entire group could sit together. We loved that no restaurant reservations were required. Everything was first come, first served, and we were always seated within an hour. The staff throughout the resort were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the property was spotless with quick responses to any spills or messes. Despite being a large group, we never had issues finding chairs at the beach or pool. We usually went down between 9–10 a.m. and easily secured spots, then moved to the pool later in the afternoon with no issues. The beach was beautiful, raked daily, and towels were always available. The waterslides were a fun bonus. Minor Cons, if we had to mention any: The distance between the beach and pool/bars may be challenging for some. That said, there was drink service on the beach for the win. Hallways can be noisy, so light sleepers may want earplugs. All 12 of us would absolutely recommend this resort.
