Excellent!!! More than 5*
I absolutely loved my stay at RIU Latino! The fact that it’s an adults-only hotel was a huge plus for me, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere throughout. The location is perfect—far enough from the bustling Cancun, yet close enough to enjoy the area if you want to explore. The food was incredible—a wide variety of delicious options that exceeded my expectations every day. On top of that, the entertainment and parties organized by the hotel were outstanding, offering something fun and exciting every evening.

Great stay, great value
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Riu Latino with a family group of 12 people. Even though each of us had very different preferences on how to spend our time at the resort, everyone had an absolute blast since there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Would absolutely recommend to a friend looking for a reasonably priced all-inclusive that has a great variety of food, activities, pools, entertainment and more. Pros: - Great quality and selection of food - Variety of pools, beaches, activities, and entertainment - Great value for money Cons: - Beach is a bit far from resort - Inconsistent house keeping experiences - Food: the buffet has some of the best food I’ve ever had at any all inclusive resort, including several other Riu resorts. The buffet has a fantastic variety of well-made, tasty food that should suit just about anyone. From those who look for the safety of burger, fries, and pizza, to those who prefer authentic Mexican or international cuisine, to simple salads, meats, cheeses, or gourmet deserts - this place has it all. The food was different every day but always had “safe” options and great new additions to explore and experiment with. The restaurants at the resort were ok - given how good the buffet was, these are very much optional experiences to have a more elevated dining experience. Milan (Italian) was good, with a good appetizer buffet and a la cart menu featuring Italian dishes. The Steakhouse was “ok”, with the steak being quite bland and fatty, and service was very, very slow. Compared to the steak and speed of the buffet, I chose not to return especially as this is located partially outdoors so temperature can be an issue. Geisha (Asian) was my least favourite, with a limited selection of sushi and a small variety of other Asian dishes. - Drinks: there was a good selection of drinks available, and the bartenders always tried to make anything they could off menu. The bartenders were mostly fantastic. Make sure to bring a reusable, insulated cup and money for tips to make the most of your drinking experience! Also, be sure to ask for name brand alcohol if you prefer - we found these to be more consistently strong in alcohol than generic brands. For example, ask for a “coke and Bacardi” or “a shot of Patron” instead of rum and coke / a tequila shot. Our favourite was the Soonchai special made at the bar in the lobby - made by one of the bartenders and included a great mix of muddle watermelon, lime juice, cherries, champagne and more…delicious!! - Room: Modern finishes and simple decor. Everything in the room was functional, including the air conditioning (something that isn’t always the case at all inclusive). We had no issues with the room during our stay, however the mattress was not great. It felt very low end and springy for a 5 star resort. Pillows were also very thin and we had to request additional pillows. We went with a group of 12 people who all had great rooms and great house cleaning. We unfortunately had several issues with our house cleaning. Management was very receptive to addressing our concerns and apologetic; however, by the end of our 7 day trip the issues (particularly around receiving clean / non-stained towels and bedding) persisted and we opted to simply not get house keeping for the last day of our trip. - Resort: the resort was beautiful. The pictures we found online don’t do it justice. The exterior of the building is painted in plain white and I wish they added a bit of colour to make it more vibrant. Riu resorts have moved to a more modern look and feel over the years so everything is a bit simple and monotone, which misses some of the local flair / whimsy of the older style resorts. But don’t let that bother you as the resort is still stunningly beautiful, located on a large and beautiful white sand beach with picturesque ocean views. The grounds are extremely well maintained and were cleaned thoroughly at all times. There is a great selection of pools - party / drinking pools, activity-focused pools, and more lounge-focused relaxing pools. It ticks the box for practically everyone. Not to mention the super fun water slides! The resort also had FANTASTIC wifi coverage - we didn’t find a need to have data at all while we stayed there. For those who watch TV at night before bed, there was also a good selection of channels - of the 80 or so we got, about 20 of them were in English, including Discovery, History, AMC, and others. - Entertainment: Riu is known for the great performances and the Riu Latino was no exception. There was always a great show to enjoy every night, each of them different from the next. The entertainment crew are all so vastly and multi-talented. It’s the perfect way to spend (or start) your night! - Staff: all the staff were wonderful to us. Yaz at the front desk was so helpful especially helping to accommodate our large party size and different room preferences. Everyone was very happy at the end of the day! - Beach: the beach is beautiful - though a bit of a trek from the main hotel. It takes a couple minutes to walk across the beach towards the shoreline. There are no trees available for shade close to the water, but the resort has umbrellas and loungers available for use. The waters were blue/green, with soft sand (and a very small section of gravel), making it very swimmable. There was little to no seaweed the days we were there and never anything that became too bothersome. - Safety: despite all the news you might hear about safety issues in Mexico, I have never felt unsafe in my multiple visits there. In fact, we felt way safer at the Riu Latino than two recent trips we took to the Dominican Republic. There are safety staff on premises at all times. The beaches are patrolled by actual police, balancing the right amount of visibility to make you feel safe without feeling like they “need” to be there. We had no issues leaving things on beach chairs while swimming. One of our crew even left his bag unattended accidentally in the lobby for 1 hour and came back to find it untouched.

Dine with Nely
Our girls trip at Riu Latino did not disappoint! One of our highlights was our buffet server Nely. She gave us top notch service with a friendly smile and learned our drink order early on having our drinks waiting for us before we returned with our food. We couldn’t have asked for better service!

Clean, beautiful resort
Nely was the best server ever. She remembered us everyday and made our stay extra special. Entertainment at night was fun and they kept the place impeccably clean. We were here on a friends trip and everything was so fun- so nice to not worry about anything!
