Great Hotel/Resort Experience
Great resort, nice modern rooms with adequate space, good food, good variety of food, sturdy drinks, and the staff is very friendly. We really enjoyed our time here, the beach is huge, and clean, the pools are great, and they have nightly entertainment, and after hours bars. Definitely recommend going.

All in All Good!
Travel dates December 5-17, 2026, solo, purpose was relaxation. I arrived just as they were doing the tree lighting. I just have to say this first. Apparently, the suits (skinny jeans and heels) were there to inspect the resort or something. OMGOSH, these folks do NOT make eye contact with guests, they do NOT smile, or engage at all. If you are going to be there doing whatever you were doing, you should be leading by example, ALWAYS, on how to treat guests. IF it is to above you to notice your guests (even when you are getting food) you should stay in the back. Show staff how to represent and make guests happy. This bothered the "F" out of me as a leader. Anyway, more about the service later.. Check-in was a bit slow for my liking, but I was just tired. Everyone was kind and made sure I knew where to go. I found the resort to be easy to navigate without getting lost. Location for me is too far out; however, I knew that. If I were planning on leaving the resort, this would not be my choice. This is my preference as I like to be within walking distance of places I can experience (shopping) or close enough that it isn't a long drive. Atmosphere is PARTY PARTY PARTY. I am 100% not a partier at all, but I felt I had options of pools that had levels of party guests. For me, the pool next to the waterslides seemed to be a bit more relaxed and quieter. You sacrificed close access to a restroom, but that isn't huge. There was a person with a cart bar, and you could go up to the cart to get your drinks. Also, a walk-up bar and swim-up bars. I heard from another solo female guest that she enjoyed the parties that Riu hosted. She shared that they were really fun, she always felt safe, and her parents joined her for the white party. Second hand, but I trusted her and "considered" participating. I did not feel out of place, so you don't have to be into drinking you will fit in no matter what. I wasn't being annoyingly bothered or pushed by guests or entertainment staff (I think they just knew) to engage. I appreciate that so I can listen to my headphones and read my books. Quickly, I read that the waterslides were not fun... LIES, I was so bummed that I didn't try them sooner. I thought they were fun, and even other guests that I encouraged NOT TO MISS OUT thanked me. Super Fun! Women, test your suits! The rooms are just fine, no complaints. What I would expect, and of course, your usual Riu Alcohol dispenser. The food at this location was one of the better experiences. The food was your usual resort food. Some places do it better than others. I felt this place did a good job. They did make some thematic adds I always appreciate that to break it up. It felt consistent, and you knew what you were getting in the buffet. The omelet bar service could be much better. I think they should wear gloves. I don't like it when you pour hot, fresh food on top of the old food when you are refreshing the buffet food. Nitpicky, I know, but I just kept noticing it. Specialty restaurants, several folks don't go because they claim you get the same food at the buffet. I didn't get that experience at the Gourmet, Italian and Steak restaurants. I enjoyed going to those and loved the service so much at those three restaurants. I thought they did a great job of keeping the resort clean again, with all of the partying going on, the place looked picked up for the most part in the mornings. However, the public bathrooms smelled horrific, not normal in a resort. Gross. Noise level was there and was high, people are partying, but you should just know that. I don't have issues with that if you do, reconsider staying here. The gym was fine, no real complaints, mediocre, but it worked for being at a resort. Service: At first, I was blown away by how the servers were not engaging as my experience is that they always do. In the buffet, the wave to force you to them is off-putting. I realize their circumstances, but being engaging right out of the gate without the wave would be better. AM Buffet - TE RE ~ she did a great job of being personable, and I enjoyed my breakfast every time. PM Buffet - BRI-AN ~ he was so awesome, his smile was kick a**, he knew how to stay busy, and be personable geat experience during my dinners with him. Afternoon Buffet ~ Alexis, he was also extremely personable, attentive, with a fabulous smile, and knew how to be personable and stay busy. He would even come grab my plate and take it to my table if he had a minute to spare. I appreciated these three. I felt like there was less connection with the guests compared to other experiences. Hey, if you have an opportunity to sit with an entertainer, do it was fun getting to know Alex, and he sure works hard! Steakhouse ~ Martin rock star service, these folks are moving and grooving, and his service was great! Gourmet ~ Fidel knocked it out of the park; he made me laugh, suggested a starter, and had a fun conversation while never missing a beat with others. Thank you, Fidel! The best part of my trip, hands down, was their resort cat. Anytime I have seen a cat at a resort, they are super feral and starved. This pulls the heartstrings no matter what. Well, not here. They have a tuxedo fella who is obviously a stray, but they actually take care of him. He takes care of the guests at the resort. He is super friendly and snuggly. I spent a lot of time with him, yes....crazy cat lady. However, he connects people and brings out the kindness in people. I appreciated so much that they allowed him to have a safe place to be fed and hang out! The beach was great, I am just more of a pool person, although each location I pick has to have a nice beach. They did! Quickly, as far as value, I don't think I got a good deal, which is fine, I was within my personal budget. Several folks mentioned they were there because the prices were too good to pass up. So I think it is about timing, not sure. Overall, I would say 3.5/Good, not 4/Good, but that is not offered above. Not a bad experience and depending on your criteria, you should give this a go.

Fantastic New Years Trip!
The RIU Latino truly delivers. They hosted an amazing New Year’s Eve party right on the beach, complete with party favors and fireworks at midnight—such a perfect way to ring in the New Year. The clientele here is noticeably more relaxed and refined compared to RIU Cancun, which has more of a party-heavy vibe. This resort was perfect for me. The beach is immaculate, little to no seaweed, no vendors harassing you, and the hammocks are a wonderful touch. Although it’s a large resort, I actually loved walking the beautiful grounds. There isn’t much immediately around the hotel, but Ubers are inexpensive and make it easy to get to nearby shopping centers. There are five large, well-maintained pools, and you can always find seating—no issues at all. The pools never felt overcrowded, and having two pool bars is a great bonus and makes spending the day by the pool even better. The bar staff was excellent, Renée at the pool bar, Bryan with the bar cart, Augustin, and so many others whose names I wish I could remember. Drinks and food were very good throughout the resort. Alexis at breakfast and lunch was incredibly attentive and always made us feel welcomed. Housekeeping was absolutely on point. I would head out to breakfast and return to a perfectly made room. A special thank you to Juana, who was so sweet and left the most adorable towel animals daily. She always greeted me, checked in to make sure I was okay, and whenever I saw her around the resort, she greeted me with the warmest, friendliest smile. I also loved that this is adults-only. The water park was so much fun, and the entertainment team, Yale, Julie, and the rest of the staff, were amazing. They were fun, engaging, always remembered your name, and the shows and game nights were very entertaining. Check-in was quick and easy, and I was given my room right away, which made the arrival experience stress-free. I highly recommend RIU Latino if you’re looking for a relaxed, chill RIU where you can unwind, enjoy great service, and still have plenty of fun in the sun.
