Beautifully renovated resort
The resort, food and especially the entertainment and the beach was amazing. However, I was not able to reserve a dinner each night of my stay because some of the restaurants were closed or already booked up even on day one when I got there.

Not the Same Resort We Fell in Love With
We stayed here pre-COVID and had an amazing experience, but this time, it didn’t live up to expectations. Staff & Service Some employees were fantastic—especially the sports bar ladies especially Venette, who handled the morning rush like pros and Marvel & Ajyan out by the pool bar. Others, however, seemed indifferent, and tipping felt expected for basic service rather than exceptional service. Food & Drinks The food was solid but nothing special. The steakhouse was underwhelming, but the Mandalay and regular buffets were good. Getting dinner reservations was tough—you had to book on the app by 8 AM 2 days prior to going to have a chance of getting in. The drinks were overly sugary and weak, and bartenders were hit or miss. Some were great, while others barely engaged. Rooms & Maintenance We had major A/C issues, which weren’t fully resolved until halfway through our stay. The resort did offer to move us, but why start the whole process over again. We later learned, to top it off, they actually turn the A/C off for a few hours at night, making rooms hot and humid. The resort had supposedly been recently renovated, but some walls were heavily marked up, some lights were hanging by their wires, and maintenance doors were left open. Worst of all, an “accident” in a public area was still noticeable two days later. Beach & Location The beach had plenty of loungers and little seaweed onshore, but the water had a lot of seaweed growing on the bottom—water shoes are a must! There is a lot of unseen sea life. It would also have been nice to have foot showers near the rooms. I only noticed 1 or 2 on the property. Buildings 3 and 4 are more secluded but require a long walk, so choose accordingly. The swim-up rooms were pretty cool and offered either privacy or great people-watching, depending on the location. Off-Resort Tip Right off the property on the beach, there’s a low-key lobster spot—just picnic tables under blue tarps—but the lobster and crabs were amazing. It looks suspect but has been awesome both times. The owner, Chad, does it right! Highly recommend. Then if you like, continue on and do some shopping on the beach. (It is not part of the resort) but the shop owners are very friendly and fun. Disappointments The resort did nothing to acknowledge our friend’s 60th birthday, even though she organized a group of 11 people. Not a note, a bottle of champagne, or even a banner on the door. The App was very frustrating. Between being knocked off Wi-Fi constantly and having to use the app for most things, ugh! It was not very user friendly or responsive and I don't want to have to carry my phone everywhere...I'm on vacation. I would have appreciated an old school map kiosk in a main area.(not tucked away) and a listing of events without having to use a phone. Positives The White Party and Silent Disco were an absolute blast! Also, check-in and check-out were smooth. The market place and lobster hut on beach next to resort was very convenient and a lot of fun. Final Verdict For the price, okay at best. You likely won’t be completely disappointed, but don’t expect to be wowed either.

Excellent hotel ..
Myself and my wife went for a weeks holiday, we’ve been to other Caribbean islands and Jamaica didn’t let us down. Hotel just recently refurbished was very good….food and restaurants was excellent, make sure you book early as they fill up quickly… location was great, the beach was stunning with some great sunsets ….did have seaweed but didn’t have any effect us or the beach…entertainment was very good, lots of variety and caters for all ages…overall recommend hotel and would definitely stop there again. We had a great time! Book it!!

Decent resort for the price
I’d rate this about a 3.5 star. It’s a nice resort, there’s nothing wrong, really any complaint I have is just a result of personal preference. I didn’t care for the layout. Everything seems really close together so if your room is not right in the center, there’s nothing along the way. The beach bar is pretty close to the pool bar which is pretty close to the lobby bar. Not much to see anywhere else except the rooms. The beach is nice! There is some sea grass but I didn’t mind it at all because I saw a lot of fish and stingrays in it. Never got to see the shark, even though I looked and looked. The pools are nice and I appreciate the fact that kids aren’t allowed in the swim up pool. It’s small though. Not a lot going on for entertainment. Several times my husband tried to play volleyball at the scheduled time but the entertainment staff didn’t seem interested. Maybe because the net is all torn to shreds. Tons of beach chairs around the pool and beach. Tons of shaded areas in both places. No need to get up early to get a spot. Food is decent. No room service was a bummer. Lunch is pretty much the same every day. The staff is amazing. The Jamaican people are so so welcoming! Only real negative was I booked directly thru the RIU website. Never got an email itinerary. Transport was also booked thru the RIU rep but whatever company was used, the rep was never where they were supposed to be and nobody else knew who or what I was looking for, kind of bizarre.
