Everything was great
The water was beautiful. Food, drinks and people were great! The resort was nice and clean. We were right across the street from a few restaurants. All in all, a great location.

So Disappointing
I have never left a bad review before and usually take them with a grain of salt. I’m pretty good at taking the good with the bad and understanding that nothing is perfect. Really disappointed to have to leave this review but it was one thing after the other and people should know about it. My daughters and I stayed at the Riu Palace Aruba from November 11/24-November 18/24. We had stayed at the Riu Palace in Cabo St. Lucas and had outstanding service so we thought our experience would be the same if not better in Aruba. This was a special mother/ daughter vacation as we had recently lost my father to serious illness; I was looking forward to being pampered a little and just recovering from the stress of the past few months. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like that of the Riu in Cabo. Upon checking in my daughters’ names appeared one after the other on the reservation. My daughter told the clerk that I was also included in that room and the clerk responded “ where is SHE staying?” 🚩 We were supposed to have a room with two beds but got one with one king and a pullout sofa that was extremely uncomfortable because the springs were poking through the mattress. The toilet didn’t flush. We called the front desk and then waited a long while for someone to fix it. It broke again soon after being repaired. We requested another room and finally given one that was supposed to have two beds which was actually two beds pushed together and made up as one. There was again a pullout sofa which required sheets. We noticed this at about 11:00 PM and called the front desk. After two calls and an hour of waiting, the sheets never came. I continued to call the front desk but no one answered. 🤦🏻♀️We finally got them the next day after much discussion with someone at the desk. Our room was not accessible by elevator which we didn’t mind but on departure day we called down to have someone help us with our luggage and again after two calls and a half hour of waiting no one came to help. We carried our suitcases down the narrow cement stairwell ourselves. Good thing none of us fell. When I tried to talk to the manager he brushed me off and said “oh I’m sorry, I’ll follow up “ as he walked away from me. He couldn’t get away fast enough and clearly didn’t care. The fridge was not replenished daily as stated in the guest guide. We had to call almost every day for coffee packets and water. In general, the staff did not smile; they were miserable and unwelcoming even if you tipped them. Their attitudes did not reflect “a happy island”. They made you feel like you were bothering them.Service was less than adequate; waited a long time to be acknowledged at your table to get coffee but then they wouldn’t bring you cream, water, etc. The host at the steakhouse scolded my 27 and 29 year old daughters when he gave them a buzzer to be called for the 8PM seating; telling them that THEY BETTER GET THERE FAST when he buzzes them! It was shocking and unsettling and although the food at the restaurants was excellent, unfortunately the servers’ attitudes were off putting and downright rude! There were clearly other people who were visibly annoyed and upset by the terrible service and lack of respect from the staff towards guests. The breakfast buffet was good but lunch and dinner … not so much. The servers at the pool were fantastic and good at their jobs. The treatment we received at this hotel was extremely uncharacteristic of a 5 star resort. I will not go back there.

Hotel and Staff were Great!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over Thanksgiving week! All the restaurants served delicious food. The buffet had a large variety of choices, which changed a bit every day. The hotel staff treated us very well. The entertainment at night was fun. The pool was not too crowded. The beach which is open to the public was a bit more crowded. A little noise from the construction next door. Be sure to bring some bug spray and anti-inch cream as we did encounter mosquitoes and some no-see-ums at the pool and on the breach. Overall a great trip for our family!

Aruba is crowded and beaches are difficult to sit and relax because of tight quarters
Hotel is very nice but too many drunks in pool area . Also beach is super crowded as Aruba beaches are public and people come off cruise ships after paying for the day pass allowing them access to everything the visitors staying for week are allowed Water beautiful but a storm at sea brought in tons of thick brown seaweed the town took 3 days to clean

Anniversary Trip
Love the location. People are really nice. Food is adequate. Entertainment in the evening is ok. Places like Sandals have local culture entertainment which is fun, as well as a fun piano bar. Those things help it stand out.
