Dec 10, 2024When will I learn.
I am currently at the Riu Bavaro, and can't wait to leave. This has to be at least the seventh time that I have been to the DR and the third time I have stayed at a Riu property. I have noticed some renovations with the property since visiting two years ago, however, not for the better. At check in, no one even helped us with our luggage. After waiting and getting through checking in, we escorted ourselves to our room and carried our bags up four flights. The room was a nice change and almost everything worked well. We did experience problems with the "rain" shower head and after two days still have not been able to get our TV to work. The food this time has been hit or miss and the service has lacked considerably. I am now officially done with the DR. Lastly, the airport experience, as usual is a nightmare, arriving and leaving. With all the business this country makes in tourism, you would think things would change for the better.

Great Hotel, Smoked me out
Riu is a great brand/hotel. Great food, staff, grounds. Good selection of Ala Carter, was not overly busy at 6pm It's just all the smoking. People smoking cigars in the pool. I much prefer the Rius' with designated smoking areas. (Panama, Jamaica) Casino on the neibouring property
