Wonderful Stay!
The Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas is a wonderful place to stay. Rooms were very clean with our own bar. Plenty of water and sodas were put out every day. Food was delicious and I especially liked the omeletts made to order for breakfast. We took a couple of excursions and they were awesome as well with pick up right on time. Our king bed was actually two beds put together which I found sort of strange but it was fine. The beach had several piers so it was a bit difficult to walk a far ways as there were rocks here as well. The ocean was pretty calm as compared to another resort we stayed at a couple of years ago. The pools were very nice and had jets in parts so you could get a water massage. There was a 24 hour food place to grab some chips and cheese or a burger and a soda.

Good times
Stayed 14 nights in feb 25, overall very pleasant stay, I was here the same time in 24 & nothing has changed especially the food in the specialty restaurants which was disappointing once again, the best of the bunch was the Italian with the rest not really worth a visit apart from the ambiance for special occasions, overall the hotel is awesome with 95 % of all staff making your stay great, one last gripe is the evening entertainment, same dire shows as last year, come on RIU sort this out.

Four Star Resort with a 5 Star View
The resort itself is nice and the rooms are comfortable. We had a room on the 6th floor on the end above the swim up bar pool. Relaxing on our balcony and enjoying the view was fantastic. We spent our days either at the swim up bar/activities pool or on the beach. The pool is rather noisy and has a party atmosphere while the beach is calm and relaxing. The drinks are made well and top shelf liquor is available if you ask for it. The food at the buffet was adequate with a decent amount of variety. We found the food at the a la carte restaurants to be terrible and would have just stuck to the buffet if we had known. The steak was tough as shoe leather and the fish was inedible at the Black & White. The octopus was barely cooked and couldn't be eaten at the Mexican. Couple that with an extremely loud room with terrible acoustics and it was not enjoyable at all. The best meal that we had was at the Krystal which we thoroughly enjoyed and would have been worth going to a second time. The others restaurants were just okay. The entertainment was the usual sappy resort stuff that occupied some time in the evening. On foam party nights there are just fillers with bingo, trivia or some other low budget things. They had a band some nights after the show but the poor acoustics in the theatre does not do them any favours. By 10 pm it's getting pretty quiet. The resort wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. If they could improve on the quality of their food I would have rated it higher. If we could get a good deal I would consider returning otherwise I'd rather pay a little extra to get better meals.

Beautiful, well kept, friendly staff
We took the “upgrade offer from the RIU Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen just so we could try one night in Cancun rather than the usual stays at PDC. It was nice to be closer to the airport and they took care of everything. Main change we noticed was that the pools were more the focal point than the beach.
