Vacation
We love our hotel - this is our 18th trip to this hotel. I always recommend Riu Palas Las Americas to all my friends.

I Love Riu
I had so much fun here. I will definitely be visiting again. I’ve stayed at different resorts and I can absolutely say that Riu Las Americas has the best staff I’ve ever experienced. Everyone made my spouse and I feel so welcomed and catered to our every need. The resort was always nice and clean and the food was also great. The Riu parties were super fun. Everything was just great. Thank you staff. I can’t wait to visit again.

The best hotel!
Returned home recently from a 2 week stay here with my friend, we stayed here 2 years ago and had such a great time we had to come back and wow it didn’t disappoint! I had emailed the reception ahead of arrival to let them know it was going to be my friends birthday while there and would they be able to help me decorate our room if I brought some balloons etc to which they replied they’d be more than happy to help. Upon checking in we went to our room to see they had already decorated it with their own decorations ahead of our arrival which was a lovely touch! Then on her actual birthday housekeeping rearranged all the decorations and I added some more of my own, reception also sent a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of Prosecco to our room in the evening when we were getting ready which I thought so thoughtful as I hadn’t reminded them which day was her actual birthday! House keeping were brilliant and cleaned our room every day without fail and also came round later the few mornings we’d decided to have a lie in! I’d also booked a beach massage for my friends birthday and it was honestly so relaxing by the beach listening to the waves, the spa staff also surprised my friend with a little cake and candle for her afterwards which was lovely! I’m not a huge breakfast person abroad but there was a large variety of options at the buffet and the same at lunch time, they also have a poolside lunch station which changes between Mexican and burgers/chips etc for those who want a snack round the pool. We never went to the buffet for dinner as we like being served in the speciality restaurants, there is 5 to chose from, our favourites were the steakhouse, the Japanese, and the gourmet restaurant all of which serve lovely meats and gorgeous seafood! Staff in all restaurants and the buffet work so hard making sure you’re served and happy, they literally don’t stop and are all so friendly and helpful! On this particular holiday myself and my friend didn’t do any excursions we just stayed around the pool/beach area but we were never bored for some poolside entertainment as the entertainment team are absolutely fantastic and they do not stop! From morning until evening they’re doing games, quizzes, dance lessons, competitions and stage performances and they really don’t get enough credit, they truely made our holiday enjoyable and we made great friends with some of them, all of who were similar ages to us so it was fantastic they got us involved with activities. A special shout out to Alexis, Eduardo, Jonathan, Miguel, Isazc, Damien, Norberto, Samantha and Jessy who brought pure vibes to the pool and stage areas, they do such long shifts in the scorching sun but constantly look like they’re having the time of their lives at work which is refreshing to see and they all seem to have a great chemistry and get along well with each other. I can quite honestly say we had the best holiday again and will definitely be back!

Not All Riu Palace Hotels Maintain the Same Standard
This review is intended more for the European traveller, rather than the majority of guests who stay at the Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas. My husband and I have enjoyed holidays at several five-star Riu Palace hotels, all located in Europe or Cape Verde. Choosing Mexico this year, I expected a similar level of quality to that we have consistently experienced at other Riu hotels within this category. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Six months ago, we stayed at a Riu Palace in Gran Canaria, where guests were kindly asked to observe the evening dress code, and everyone complied. By contrast, at Riu Palace Las Americas, guests wore virtually anything, including open shirts. It seemed as though the hotel staff simply did not care. While the hotel itself is attractive, the atmosphere is not what we have come to expect from a Riu Palace property. Approximately 90% of the guests appear to be short-stay American or Canadian visitors who give the impression that they have booked for the all-inclusive experience. I’ve been informed that all-inclusive holidays are not available in the United States. The result is an overwhelmingly noisy environment, with guests speaking loudly, drinking to excess, and behaving in a manner reminiscent of an 18–30 holiday in Ayia Napa. Large party groups often took full advantage of the free-flowing drinks and held noisy, late-night gatherings in their rooms. During the day, the main pool area is constantly filled with loud music, shouting, cheering, and heavy drinking. Although the hotel is relatively small, the sunbed situation is dire, with more than 35% of them already towel-reserved by 6 a.m. We selected this hotel based on the abundance of five-star reviews on TripAdvisor, unaware of the geographical origin of most reviewers. In conclusion, while this resort may well cater to what an American short-stay holidaymaker desires, it does not deliver the refined, high-quality adult-only experience that European guests have come to expect from Riu Palace hotels.
