Gone down hill
Very disappointed. We had booked a pool/sea view room. We were given a side view. Being gold members were hoping to feel just a little bit special. There was no acknowledgement of this when we checked in. We had to ask to move rooms, which we did the following day when one became available. This was on the second floor, not a lower level room as requested and not a good view but it was the best they could offer. No help was offered to move. We had an email from the hotel which mentioned about upgrading to an Elite room which we tried to book but none available. The Elite club took away from other guests. There are no ground floor rooms or sea view rooms as these are reserved for the Elite club. The breakfast area is jammed packed as an area has been set aside for the Elite club. You have to wait for a table and then have to weave in and out to be able to get to your table. There are very few comfy sun beds and lounge chairs. You had to queue for drinks and only Elite members were able to book tables at the restaurants. There was no Kulinarium restaurant, our favourite, even though it was advertised when we booked. Also no mention of the Elite club. We felt very inferior. We were eventually given a gold member towel but only 1 between us.

Love Riu Palace Macao
The Riu Palace Macao was wonderful. They took care of us. The food was very good for an all-inclusive resort. They need to watch the small details that are evident like some peeling paint. Everyone that we came in contact with made the trip very enjoyable.

Great Hotel
The hotel was immaculate. The food was extensive and of good quality with several different restaurants to choose from, all included in the inclusive package. As were the drinks in the room. The pool bar can get noisy so the beach is the place to head for a quieter experience. The entertainment do their best to include you but it is more directed at American guests and the staff struggled a little to understand the British accent.

Great place to stay
Pros. Excellent food. Service very friendly and excellent. No need to pre book any of the restaurants. Grounds nice and very well maintained. Nice beach. Plenty of loungers around the pool, amongst the trees (shade) and on the beach. Room cleaning and mini bar service also excellent. Cons. Asked (months in advance) for King bed, quiet room and view. Was allocated room 4041 which was a double plus 3/4 bed and directly above evening entertainment. View was nice though. Spoke to others with similar experiences.
