    Great resort!

My friend and I just returned from a week at the Riu Palace Macao. (01/21/2026- 01/28/2026). We had a spectacular time. Check in was seamless and they are always there if you need anything. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice balcony view. Variety of restaurants. We tried the Volare(Italian) and the Kabuki (Asian). Both were very good. We heard mixed vibes from people who ate at the steakhouse and/or Krystal (Mediterranean) so we stuck to the Patio which is the buffet. If you can't find something there to eat then I don't know what to say. Food was good and a huge variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The entertainment staff was superb! They went out of their way to show us a good time and it was great! They were there from morning to night and always with a smile on their face! I would like to give a special shout out to Oni! He is amazing and made my week special. Also kudos to Eliser(spelling?) and Marlene (not sure if I got the name correct) who were also great. The shoes were good and they had a pool party and games going on all day. The choice to participate is yours and there is no pressure. I have been to many all inclusive resorts and this one by far is at the top of my list!. I highly recommend Riu Palace Macao, Punta Cana. I will definitely go back!

Best holiday of our lives 5*

The absolute best holiday of our lives. From the moment we walked into the hotel we felt like royalty. We visited for our 10 year anniversary. The place was absolutely faultless. The staff , rooms, pool, service , food all was 10/10. I’m not a fan of all inclusive food especially the buffet. But this excelled my expectations fresh food cooked every day and a really good buffet selection. Another big factor to me is the fact you can have Pepsi in the morning at breakfast time this was absolutely amazing! The pool was cleaned daily. The beach - we came during hurricane season and the beach had a fair amount of sea weed however this didn’t bother us, the staff were working tirelessly to ensure it was spotless from first thing in the morning. The entertainment staff were amazing and the pool bar men worked tirelessly to accomodate everybody all whilst having a good chat and providing entertainment . We made friends for life with the men serving at the pool bar. A big shout out to Victor for waiting on us hand and foot by our pool bed each morning for a ‘morning mimosa’ by the end of our 10 night holiday we didn’t have to ask he knew exactly what we wanted . He always ensured our glasses were full and we always had a good chat and a laugh. We can’t thank him enough as he made our experience 5*. The restaurants in the hotel were absolutely superb !! We have no faults we are still dreaming about this holiday now and look forward to coming back sometime in the near future with our children this time too! Thank you so much for a holiday of a lifetime we will definitely be back :)

    Overall, very good visit

First, before getting into our review, I will say for a Dominican trip, this resort has a lot to offer to people wanting different things, quiet and secluded, more open and louder, simple food, specialty food, etc. When we see the questions on social media, we often see different answers for basic questions and as you will see if you tag along, both can be true at the same time. We traveled with our almost 20 yr old daughter and her 2 besties also almost 20. They got a standard room set up to sleep 3 and except for a couple minor plumbing issues early on and a couple bug issues later in the week, both were handled promptly, their room was good for them. They were actually located directly above the stage area and with their balcony door closed, you couldn't hear a thing. They enjoyed listening to the shows in the evenings and went to every one of the Riu foam party events. We went 1 evening with them, it's a younger crowd but well ran, plenty of room and has plenty of security. We had a delay arriving as did many planes from all over and the Punta airport was hoping the night we arrived. We got through customs and got our bags super quick, past the hall of annoyance and out the doors we went, our guy from Amstar got us to our private transportation and off we went. We arrived at the Hotel close to 7pm and checked in, here's where our biggest hiccup occurred. The ladies' room was all good and check in was fine except the suggestion by Wilfredo multiple times that we upgrade their room. We declined as we had exactly the room type we wanted for them. I am fully aware of the "requests can't be guaranteed" clause in all our paperwork but it's still frustrating. We were return customers, brought more people with us and therefore spent a decent amount that was prepaid months ahead of time as well as our request to be in the 6000 block of rooms (we had a swim up room), we enjoy being close to the walk way, spent every afternoon in our swim up and the waiters come right up to your room, very nice, as well as getting to meet and visit with people. Instead, were given a room on the 5000 block on the complete other side of the resort. This room was very damp and moist everywhere inside, the swim up pool and lounge area literally faced the chain link fence, tons of shrubbery only feet away and the hotel next door. I can completely see anybody staying in this area of the resort would need damp rid and better be wanting to enjoy all the quiet during their trip. We showed our paperwork and explained we'd love the room where we requested. Wilfredo refused saying there were no rooms in that block but continued to offer to upgrade the ladies' room. We went to our unwanted room and thought we'd take a stab in the morning. 7am the following day on our way to breakfast we brought our paperwork to the front desk and were politely greeted by Alex, we explained to her our situation, showed our paperwork and asked if anything could be done, we had to get out of the 5000 block. Alex immediately said yes, no problem at all and moved us to the room we had requested months earlier. Wilfredo was still there, appeared to be getting off shift and apologized for the "misunderstanding" last night. There was no misunderstanding. Moving on, We enjoyed the food options actually more this year than last, we ate in every restaurant including the elite. Service was not great the nights in the Italian or Steak house but the meals were very good. The Italian was my wife's least favorite, the steakhouse was probably mine but was still decent. The Krystal meal was very good and the Asian meal was easily our favorite, tons of food, great service and a great atmosphere. We enjoyed daily walks on the beach that they work hard to clean up every morning from the seaweed. Daily volleyball, water aerobics and other games a plenty available all day. It rained a couple days for brief periods of time. Our room was kept super clean,, fridge restocked off of the app quickly, we did room service a couple times and the menu is small but it was reasonably quick and the food was good. The wife had a minor medical issue while we were there, we visited the onsite dr's office, the dr did the exam, a full write up and issued medication. Our total was a few hundred dollars and our travel insurance reimbursed us when we got back. The wife and ladies did the massages at the spa and loved them as well as the water therapy. Deogo at the buffet was far and above the best service staff we had anywhere during our trip, he does amazing work! As for damp rid, dirty swim up pools and rooms that we've seen some chatter about. I would summarize in the 6000 area, this was not an issue for us, we had no bugs, no mold, no humidity in the room, pool was cleaned every morning, we'd see them cleaning during morning coffee. The 5000 block, the limited time we were there, I could see all of these things being issues.

Another great trip to RIU Palace Macao

This was our second stay at RIU Palace Macao and we had another pleasant stay at this resort. The wait staff is friendly and so appreciative of any gratuity you leave them. The entertainment team is top notch and to be honest, the reason that we decided to return. A special shout out to Oni that made sure we were always informed of what was happening during the day. Iduary was the sweetest gal and the best water aerobic instructor that I have ever had at an all inclusive resort. A fun time every day! The resort is not huge and we love that… no fighting for a lounge chair at the pool. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian and the variety at the buffet was always great.

The good, the bad and the ugly

The Good - well appointed hotel with nice rooms although beginning to show their age. Ours definitely wasn’t a suite and although I booked and paid for pool view they tried to give me garden view til I pointed out their error! Food is generally good particularly in buffet where there’s plenty of choice. More limited in restaurants where menus never change but still quality food. Lots of sunloungers although they need more umbrellas dotted about as these are very much sought after. Beach is lovely, lots of palm trees and sunbeds but sea is quite rough. Two of the three pools are very nice and seem clean and you can change beach towels all day. The Bad - Swim up rooms are wrongly marketed. I doubt anyone other than a small child could swim far in waist deep water thats about 10ft square and consequently they barely seemed used. The swim up pool it appears is solely used by those wishing to drink all day in murky dirty water and probably not use bathroom at all. It gets very lively and music gets way too loud at 4pm. The Ugly- reserving cabanas at 5am shouldn’t be allowed. Music in swim up bar after 4 is intrusive in all pool areas and can even be heard on beach. Inconsiderate drunken people shouting as they make way back to rooms at 4am probably after reserving cabanas they won’t use til after noon.
